Hello Again

I want to thank everyone for being so patient with me and the site. After the election, I didn’t know what to do with the blog because its origin was chronicling my journey with Dad on the campaign. I was uncertain about what my future would be let alone the future of the blog after the election. I am finally now in a place where I am ready to share my life again. And when I mean share, I mean share for real like I used to. No, it will not be as fascinating as it was on the trail, but I can guarantee you it will be fun. So, what I have been doing? After the election things were very hard. People would come up to me when I was grocery shopping as if someone in my family had died. But slowly and surely, with lots of help from my family and incredible friends, I began to feel like myself again. Then, inauguration day came and the rush of disappointment flooded in all over again. The only way I can explain this feeling is a very bad heartbreak. And, like any heartbreak, it takes time to heal. I originally thought I was going to rush back to New York. But while I was home I started decorating my apartment (which had previously consisted of my laptop, bed and shoes) and catching up with friends. I like being able to see my little sister Bridget (who will leave for college in a year) whenever I want. We rescued two kittens from the humane society about a month ago. I named mine “Mouse” and she named hers “Bisqut.” We have become very attached. I also forgot how much I love the desert and how soothing I find the landscape. Being away from home so much last year had made me appreciate it that much more now. New York may still be in my future, but for now home is here. As I announced a month ago, I am working for The Daily Beast (a topical blog founded by Tina Brown) and LOVE it. The people are amazing and I like that there are people I worked with on the campaign that work on the site as well. I am also working on some other really exciting projects I am passionate about and PROMISE to share with everyone as soon as I am able. All I can say is that you won’t be disappointed. In the meantime, I will keep you updated on all the little and big things. I also am going to share things I get asked about all the time. From discount fashion tips to healthy snacks that actually taste good and everything in between. And of course, new playlists! To my readers, thank you for all your support. Love, Meghan Song of the Day: “The Passenger” by Iggy Pop

The World’s a Better Place When It’s Upside Down Playlist

Hey everyone, So, I know it’s been forever since I posted a playlist. And like always, this is what has been rolling around my iPod recently. I am OBSESSED with this band “Girl in a Coma” and the song “Their Cell” is one of the most melodically beautiful songs I have heard in a long time. The lead singer’s voice will captivate you like it has me! The title of this playlist is from Gabriella Cilmi’s “Sweet About Me” which I have been singing to my sister, Bridget, recently. I promise more posts and pictures coming soon! xoxox

Sienna Miller Shitty Panty Flash Scares Me of the Day

I am glad that Sienna Miller is wearing panties….Mainly cuz I am convinced this bitch has AIDS….but also because I don’t think she’s all that into hygiene or pussy maintenance cuz she’s some gutter drunk from the UK who fucks a variety of men, married or not, as long as they have a cock, she’s ready invite them in for a cup of tea….I am also kinda freaked out with whatever unstable shit her face is doing in this shit while taking to her sister and some gay dude…but that doesn’t change the fact I do wish that we had a bit of a better angle on this though, cuz seeing a nasty pussy trying to escape her panties to hunt out the next home to wreck, especially when it was one I wanted to fuck back when it was hot, is excitng, while seeing this shit is kinda dull…. Stupid American Tourists & the State Dept That Loves Them

Gunmen kidnapped two American tourists in Yemen. They’ve apparently just been released. But who goes “touring” in Yemen? Did they not hear about this dude named Anwar Al-Awlaki, who is behind many recent Islamic terrorist attacks and attempted attacks on U.S. soil. His call to kill Americans might be a hint: Don’t. Go. To. Yemen. Dummies. These people are idiots. And I bet they’re either Muslims, themselves, or really, really delusional left-wingers who still see world-class armpits like Yemen as “exotic” locales for touring, and still romanticize Islam (while they hate all other religions except Buddhism). “Oh, look, Amber. Check out those charming headscarves. How quaint. Ditto for that ornate beheading knife, which I’m sure is only used on sheep.” Then, there are Shane Bauer, Sarah Shourd, and Josh Fattal–the three faux-journalists stuck in jail in Iran. The three are really pan-Islamist, anti-Israel far-lefties living in Damascus, Syria. One of them, Fattal, is supposedly Jewish. What kind of dumbass Jew from America goes hiking in Iran? Only an imbecile-owitz. Fattal and the other two knew better. If they’re living in the torturistan of the Assads (Syria), they knew full well not to go “hiking” in Iran. But they did anyway. Now, Iran and the mothers of these three Islamo-pandering stooges are pushing a “prisoner exchange deal” with the U.S. The Sarkozy idiots in France just did one, last week, releasing an Iranian arms dealer and refusing to extradite him to the U.S. for his criminal nuclear parts purchases (on behalf of Iran), in exchange for some far left French academic who went to Iran (another “tourist” who should have been left to rot there). And finally, there are Laura Ling and her sister, Lisa Ling. They’ve written a book about Laura Ling’s imprisonment in North Korea. Who told her to go there? If you go to Kim Jong-Il’s antithesis of Wonka World, you know what to expect. You’re gonna be imprisoned and tortured. She chose to go. But, instead of saying: you went at your own risk and you knew the consequences, so there’s nothing we can do, the U.S. did biz with Kim. Bill Clinton was interrupted from his position as Chief Justice of the Hawaiian Tropic bikini contest to negotiate and rescue these two faux-heroines. Now Laura and Lisa Ling’s book is all the rage on Oprah (for whom Lisa Ling reports regular propaganda), People Magazine, and everywhere else. My favorite headline is the People Magazine blare: “ESCAPE FROM NORTH KOREA.” Um, here’s a tip, People: no one escaped. The U.S. State Department and Bill Clinton repeatedly cajoled and posed to get these two spoiled, whiny women out of North Korea. added by: crystalman

Heidi Montag’s Father Sort of Defends Speidi

This season on The Hills , Spencer Pratt has gone completely off the deep end, declaring that he doesn’t allow wife Heidi Montag to watch TV or go online. Still, Heidi’s dad, Bill Montag, isn’t too worried. Why? “Heidi is such a strong-willed individual that I don’t think that Spencer is going to manipulate her.” Clearly Bill doesn’t watch The Hills , despite once being on it. “Also I think she knows, and so does Spencer: if I thought my daughter was in any harm’s way with Spencer, I would be there,” adds her cowboy dad. Still, Bill is concerned about Heidi, who ceased communication with her father in March and changed her phone “so I can’t even reach her,” he says. Spencer Pratt and Bill Montag on The Hills . “I think they’ll realize there are people that love them and care for them and friends and family,” he says. “I pray for them to find peace and happiness. They’re not going to find it in crystals and light and all this stuff I’ve read about.” LOL. Good to see he’s keeping up on celebrity gossip . The Colorado rancher – who divorced Heidi’s mom, Darlene Egelhoff , when Heidi was 3, has mixed feelings about his daughter’s plastic surgery binge. “I’ve always thought that Heidi always looked like me, and [her sister Holly Montag] looks like her mom,” Bill jokes. “I remember Heidi saying in a magazine once that she didn’t want my nose, so I gave her grief about that!” Montag feels like he “let her down” because he wasn’t aware she was unhappy enough to change her appearance, but he still supports her decision. “We don’t always approve of everything our children do, but we support them and we’re there for them … She doesn’t need a lecture about the whole thing. The only thing I can say is we’re there and we’re her family. She and I were very close.”

Nun at St. Joseph’s Hospital (Phoenix) "Rebuked" Over Abortion Decision to Save Woman

Nun at St. Joseph's Hospital rebuked over abortion to save woman by Michael Clancy – May. 15, 2010 12:00 AM The Arizona Republic Read more: http://www.azcentral.com/12news/news/articles/2010/05/15/20100515phoenix-catholi… A Catholic nun and longtime administrator of St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix was reassigned in the wake of a decision to allow a pregnancy to be ended in order to save the life of a critically ill patient. The decision also drew a sharp rebuke from Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted, head of the Phoenix Diocese, who indicated the woman was “automatically excommunicated” because of the action. Neither the hospital nor the bishop's office would address whether the bishop had a direct role in her demotion. He does not have control of the hospital as a business but is the voice of moral authority over any Catholic institution operating in the diocese. The actions involving the administrator, mostly taken within the past couple of weeks, followed a last-minute, life-or-death drama in late 2009. The patient had a rare and often fatal condition in which a pregnancy can cause the death of the mother. Sister Margaret McBride, who had been vice president of mission integration at the hospital, was on call as a member of the hospital's ethics committee when the surgery took place, hospital officials said. She was part of a group of people, including the patient and doctors, who decided upon the course of action. The patient was not identified, and details of her case cannot be revealed under federal privacy laws. The Catholic Church forbids abortion in all circumstances and allows the termination of a pregnancy only as a secondary effect of other treatments, such as radiation of a cancerous uterus. The hospital defended the ethics committee's decision. In a statement, Suzanne Pfister, a hospital vice president, said that the facility adheres to the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services but that the directives do not answer all questions. “In this tragic case, the treatment necessary to save the mother's life required the termination of an 11-week pregnancy,” Pfister said. Pfister issued the four-paragraph statement on behalf of the hospital, its parent company Catholic Healthcare West, and the Sisters of Mercy, McBride's religious order. McBride was part of the discussion about the surgery, described as urgent. It involved a serious illness, pulmonary hypertension. The condition limits the ability of the heart and lungs to function and is made worse, possibly even fatal, by pregnancy. In a statement issued to The Republic late Friday, the diocese confirmed that Olmsted learned of the case after the surgery. “I am gravely concerned by the fact that an abortion was performed several months ago in a Catholic hospital in this diocese,” Olmsted said. “I am further concerned by the hospital's statement that the termination of a human life was necessary to treat the mother's underlying medical condition. “An unborn child is not a disease. While medical professionals should certainly try to save a pregnant mother's life, the means by which they do it can never be by directly killing her unborn child. The end does not justify the means.” Olmsted added that if a Catholic “formally cooperates” in an abortion, he or she is automatically excommunicated. Excommunication forbids the person from participating in church life. Remedies are available through an appeal to the Vatican or confession. “The Catholic Church will continue to defend life and proclaim the evil of abortion without compromise, and must act to correct even her own members if they fail in this duty,” the bishop said. It is unknown whether the bishop took action against the others who were involved in the matter, and Pfister would not answer questions about the physicians involved in the surgery. Neither Olmsted nor his spokesman at the Phoenix Diocese would answer additional questions. Although Olmsted does not have direct control of the hospital, his authority as bishop over Catholic institutions is substantial. For one thing, religious orders work in the Valley at his invitation. In an e-mail, Pfister said McBride has been transferred “to another position in the hospital to focus on a number of new strategic initiatives.” According to the medical directives that the hospital follows, abortion is defined as the directly intended termination of pregnancy, and it is not permitted under any circumstances – even to save the life of the mother. On the other hand, a second directive says that “operations, treatments and medications that have as their direct purpose the cure of a proportionately serious pathological condition of a pregnant woman are permitted . . . even if they will result in the death of the unborn child.” A letter sent Monday from Catholic Healthcare West, signed by Sister Judith Carle, board chairwoman, and President and CEO Lloyd Dean, asks Olmsted to provide further clarification about the directives. Agreeing that in a healthy mother, pregnancy is “not a pathology,” it says this case was different. The pregnancy, the letter says, carried a nearly certain risk of death for the mother. “If there had been a way to save the pregnancy and still prevent the death of the mother, we would have done it,” the letter says. “We are convinced there was not.” James J. Walter, professor of bioethics at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, a Catholic university, said that is a tough argument to make. He said a pregnancy may be terminated only in limited, indirect circumstances, such as uterine cancer, in which the cancer treatment takes the life of the fetus. Catholic teaching, he said, is that a pregnancy cannot be terminated as a means to an end of saving the life of a mother who is suffering from a different condition. Asked if the church position prefers the mother and child to die, rather than sparing the life of one of them, Walters said the hope is that both would survive. Not all faith groups see things the same way. The Jewish tradition, the Mormon Church and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America are among the groups that frown on abortion on demand but permit it when the life of the mother is at stake or if the mother is impregnated by rape or incest. McBride declined to be interviewed. She was the highest-ranking member of the Sisters of Mercy at the hospital, which the order founded in 1895.
