Fantasy Football Draft 2013: Don’t Select Aaron Hernandez!

With everyone’s fantasy football draft just days away, THG is here to offer advice on practically every position on the field. Which quarterback should you take after Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees? What about the best running back after Adrian Peterson? The top receiver after Calvin Johnson ? Now, it’s time for the tight ends. We’d stay away from Aaron Hernandez and then we’d pick the following players in the order listed below: Jimmy Graham : The clear top choice. He’s Brees’ number-one option and he’s in a contract year. Rob Gronkowski : He’s either number-two… or he’s not on the list. Recent back surgeries make it impossible to know his status, but will challenge Graham is healthy. Jason Witten : It doesn’t get much less sexy… or much more consistent. Tony Gonzalez : Ditto, really. No way would he return for another season if he didn’t feel like he could compete at a high level. Antonio Gates : Has fallen considerably from his status a couple years ago, but still among the elite. Pretty big drop-off after him. Vernon Davis : Had a couple big playoff games, but didn’t really connect with Colin Kaepernick prior to them. The loss of Michael Crabtree could also mean more double teams. Kyle Rudolph : Someone has to catch the ball in Minnesota. Right? Brandon Pettigrew : Will be overshadowed by Calvin Johnson, of course, but where do you think Matthew Stafford will turn whenever Megatron draws too many defenders? Greg Olsen : A quality safety valve for Cam Newton. Owen Daniels: Finished at number-8 tight end in regular ESPN fantasy scoring last year despite nagging injuries.

Raz-B on Life Support After Gruesome Bottle Attack

Raz-B is on life support in a hospital in China after the 28-year-old R&B singer suffered an absolutely brutal bottle attack to the face this week. Raz-B’s publicist, Toy Jones, tells celebrity news site TMZ: “He is in a coma and needs as many prayers as possible.” Raz was performing at a club China on Thursday and was hit in the face with a glass bottle – while trying to break up a fight that erupted in the crowd. He received medical attention hours after the incident and underwent surgery to repair a gash in his lip (below), but the next day, he did not wake up. Raz’s backup dancer rushed him to a nearby hospital. Doctors tested for brain activity and found the situation was dire; Raz is breathing from a ventilator at this time and has been slipping in and out of consciousness. The singer (real name De’Mario Monte Thornton) and You Got Served actor is probably most famous for being a founding member of R&B boy band B2K. Here’s hoping he can make a miraculous recovery.

Hugh Douglas: FIRED By ESPN Over "Uncle Tom" Comment

Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive standout Hugh Douglas has been fired by ESPN after allegedly calling his co-host Michael Smith an “Uncle Tom.” Hugh Douglas Threatens, Insults Michael Smith Douglas, co-host of Numbers Never Lie , reportedly got into a heated altercation with Smith at the National Association of Black Journalists Convention. At the Florida event last week, Hugh allegedly hurled the racially charged insult at Smith (both are African-American), who he also reportedly threatened to beat up. Douglas never confirmed the incident, but ESPN had previously told media outlets they were “aware there was a disagreement” between the two men. ESPN then fired Douglas moments ago. Douglas tweeted, “I am very disappointed to be leaving ESPN and will have more to say about this situation and my future at the appropriate time.”

When The Checks Stop Coming In: Ex-MLB Star Dwight Gooden Evicted From Jersey Mansion

Dwight just can’t seem to catch a break. Dwight Gooden Evicted From Mansion These ballers make all this scrilla and don’t have two dimes to show for it. Jermaine Dupri and Dwight need to take the same money management class. According to TMZ More problems for Doc Gooden — the troubled ex-MLB star has just been evicted from the NJ mansion he was renting after allegedly stiffing his landlord for months … TMZ has learned. What makes the situation even sadder … Dwight’s estranged wife was living in the home with their 2 young kids — who were all forced to leave in July, when officials enforced the eviction. According to court docs, obtained by TMZ, Dwight and his family moved in to the home back in September 2011 … and agreed to pay $4,500 per month in rent. But things went south in March — when Dwight’s wife got a restraining order against the former NY Mets pitcher following a domestic dispute, forcing Doc to move out. The homeowners claim Doc’s family stayed in the home all of March, April, May and June — but they never got a check from the Goodens for any of those months … and that adds up to some serious debt. The homeowners filed legal docs against Gooden — demanding the back rent plus penalties, totaling more than $18,984 … AND they also want legal fees. The court also granted the landlord’s permission to evict the Goodens — and on July 11, Docs family was forced out of the home. It’s unclear where they’re living now. We reached out to Dwight’s people — so far, no word back. That’s what happens when these athletes try to ball out of control, but their pockets are lighter than a feather. It’s sad the wife and babies had to be put out on the street.

The doctors are not letting this danger to society out. Amanda Bynes Loses Bid For Freedom They need to hold her azz for as long as they can….no one wants to see her burn her dog alive. According to TMZ Amanda Bynes was just shut down in her bid to leave the psychiatric hospital where she has been held against her will for more than a week … TMZ has learned. Amanda appeared before a judge in the psych ward, as her lawyer argued there was no legal basis to hold her for the two additional weeks … sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ. We broke the story … Amanda was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold 10 days ago after starting a fire in the driveway of a home near L.A. The hold lasted 3 days, and then doctors stepped in and got a judge to extend the hold for 2 additional weeks so they could properly diagnose her. Our sources say Amanda’s lawyer argued at today’s hearing the actress was capable of caring for herself and she was not a danger to others. As we reported, Amanda is actually doing a lot better since doctors have started giving her a cocktail of meds. We’re told there are clear signs Amanda is schizophrenic. In the end the judge agreed with the doctors, that Amanda needed to stay in the hospital because her mental situation is still precarious. Amanda does not acknowledge she has a mental illness, and doctors believe there’s more than a good chance she would not take the meds that have stabilized her if she’s out on her own. All those voices she heard should have told her not to wear those horrible blonde wigs anymore.

Former NFL Star Aaron Hernandez Pens Letter From Jail, “God Put Me In This Situation For A Reason”

He has nothing else better to do. Aaron Hernandez Writes Letter From Jail When ninjas are behind bars facing years in jail, they find God real quick. God put you in jail for a reason, but why were you holding a gun on that surveillance footage? God always knows something we don’t. According to TMZ Aaron Hernandez wrote a pen pal a letter from inside his jail cell, declaring his innocence, saying his murder charges are God’s plan, and vowing to return to the NFL … and TMZ has a copy. We have verified with law enforcement the letter is the real deal. You can read it yourself … among the highlights: – “The world just makes things out of false accusations … and it will all die down, especially when they say NOT GUILTY” – “All the people who turned on me will feel like crap.” – “God put me in this situation for a reason.” – “Can’t wait to sign [autographs] again when I’m playing again an [sic] prove all the haters WRONG.” As for the fan who received the letter, Karl … he just called in to “TMZ Live” and told us he wrote Hernandez first. Karl says he sent the letter because he was in the same jail 15 years ago, and wanted to reach out to Hernandez to give him some encouragement. Karl also says he would like to visit Aaron in jail — if Aaron will let him. FYI, Hernandez — who’s been accused of murdering semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd — has been denied bail and will remain behind bars until his trial. Hit the flip to view the letter.

Ariel Castro Pleads Guilty to Rape, Kidnapping, Murder; Sentenced to 1,000 Years

Ariel Castro agreed to a plea deal in an Ohio courtroom Friday that will save him from the death penalty, but never again will he see the light of day. He was sentenced to life, plus 1,000 years in prison. Ariel Castro Pleads Guilty The deal, reached with prosecutors, would let him avoid the possibility of a death sentence and spare his victims from having to testify at a trial. The plea deal entails that the Cleveland kidnapping perpetrator be sentenced to life in prison without parole – he will never even get a parole hearing. It would also mean that a trial Castro was facing on August 5 would not happen and he would not face the possibility of being sentenced to death. Judge Michael J. Russo went over the deal with Castro, and told him that he would be labeled as a sexual predator. Castro replied that he understood. Russo went through charges Ariel Castro faces relating to the allegations he held three women captive for a decade and asked how he pleaded. Over and over and over again, he replied: “Guilty.” An attorney for three kidnapping victims told CNN that they were hoping for a plea deal because they did not want to take the stand at Castro’s trial. One can certainly sympathize with that. A law firm representing Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry and Georgina “Gina” DeJesus, issued a statement after Ariel Castro agreed to a plea. “Amanda, Gina, and Michelle are relieved by today’s plea,” according to Jones Day. “They are satisfied by this resolution to the case, and are looking forward to having these legal proceedings draw to a final close in the near future.” The women want to remain private and don’t want to speak to media or others, the statement said, but they’re grateful for the support they’ve received.

Those are the exact words Batali used when asked how he’d react if Bieber peed in one of his restaurant’s mop buckets, as the singer was caught on tape doing in footage that circulated a few weeks ago. Mario Batali on Justin Bieber Bourdain has also referred to Bieber as a punk . Yesterday morning, meanwhile, Selena Gomez said she would always protect her ex . But who could have guessed Justin would need protecting from Anthony Bourdain and Mario Batali?!?

Beth Chapman Arrest Warrant Issued Over "Coarse Language"

Dog the Bounty Hunter’s wife Beth Chapman apparently found herself on the other side of the law after a bizarre incident this week in Colorado. While fishing with her husband and kids, a teenager in a car sped past. Chapman yelled at the teen, calling her a tramp, a slut and a whore. Beth then reportedly called 911, alleging that someone who was with the teenage driver was carrying a gun. Police arrived, but the Chapmans had left. However, because it’s illegal to taunt someone with “coarse language” in Colorado, the teenager filed a criminal harassment complaint against Chapman. Police attempted to notify Beth Chapman to pick up the summons, but she reportedly did not show up, at which point they issued an arrest warrant. Yes, Colorado legalized marijuana , but you can’t call someone a tramp. According to news reports, her lawyer has reportedly been in contact with local authorities to arrange the logistics of Dog’s wife turning herself in. We’d watch out if we were these crazy-driving teens.
