King of body horror David Cronenberg hasn’t dipped his toes back into the creepy-crawly well in years (his next, the Rob Pattinson starrer Cosmopolis , arrives later this month) but fear not: son Brandon Cronenberg is here to follow in his father’s footsteps with his own disturbing directorial debut! Who’s hungry for a story about cloned flesh-chomping, disease-surfing celeb hobbyists? Snack on the trailer for Antiviral after the jump. Caleb Landry Jones ( X-Men: First Class ‘s Banshee) stars as Syd March, an employee at a medical facility where celebrities grow viruses on their skin that are sold to fans eager for a way to get closer to their idols. When he steals an infection from superstar Hannah Geist (Sarah Gadon) that turns out to be fatal, Syd must unravel the mystery behind her particularly squirmy strain. It’s a metaphor! Antiviral debuted at Cannes and will screen during next month’s Toronto Film Festival. Early reviews from the Croisette heralded Cronenberg Jr. as a compelling heir to his pop’s genre legacy and praised Jones’s central performance (you may also remember him from The Last Exorcism and Friday Night Lights ). Rihanna has been nixed as the face of Nivea products. No specific reason or action was cited as the reason, but Stefan Heidenreich, the head of the brand, clearly isn’t a big fan of the controversial singer. Heidenreich publicly expressed disapproval with the skin care line’s decision to have the sexy star as its public face, saying “Rihanna is a no-go.” “I do not understand how to bring the core brand of Nivea in conjunction with Rihanna. Nivea stands for trust, family and reliability,” he added. Heidenreich told the singer’s ads shot last year – see one of our all-time favorite Rihanna pictures above – should have never been released. Ouch. Tell us how you really feel. For her part, Rihanna responded by posting a generic head shot of Heidenreich on her Twitter with the caption, “No caption necessary.” So, yeah. That about sums it up.

Why did she cut herself back in the day? “There were times I felt so anxious, almost like I was crawling out of my skin – that if I didn’t do something physical to match the way I felt inside, I would explode… I cut myself to take my mind off that. I just didn’t care what happened. I had no fear.” How is she recovering? “I make time for myself and meditate. I’ve spent the past two years getting over an eating disorder and issues like self-harming and bipolar disorder . I have to work on this stuff every day. I’m reminded of that whenever I eat or feel down.” What is her new perception of beauty? “I used to feel my most beautiful when I was on the red carpet or at events or something where I’m all dolled up. Now I feel like the moment when I feel most beautiful is when I’m able to hang out with a guy without my makeup on or lay on the beach with no makeup on and not even worrying about what my hair or what I look like before I fall asleep.” How does she feel about her fellow X-Factor judges? “Britney is such a sweet girl! Well, it’s certainly great to be cast in a hit franchise that producers are itching to see the good times roll on. Scarlett Johansson ‘s portrayal as the Black Widow in Marvel’s The Avengers was one component in a half-dozen super-heroes that has brought in over $1.45 billion since its release in late Spring. With money like that rolling in, no point in jiggering with a winning formula. And to keep the good times going, the producers have offered up a record-breaking paycheck for Johansson to reprise her super-hero role. The Hollywood star has been offered a cool $20 million in order to lure her back in the skin-tight black suit for more flips, punches and acrobatics for future adoring audiences in the franchise’s next installment, according to the New York Post . That is “slightly” more than the $19 million Angelina Jolie reportedly received for her turn in The Tourist If that pans out, that will be quite a pay raise from the current film, which is the biggest of the summer tentpoles so far. According to The Hollywood Reporter in May she made between $4 – 6 million plus bonuses, similar to Samuel L. Jackson, but much less than Robert Downey, Jr.’s reported take (Chris Hemsworth, Chis Evans, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo made about half that). Last month, Forbes magazine dubbed Kristen Stewart the highest paid actress in Hollywood between her Twilight and Snow White and the Huntsman gigs. The two made her a celestial $34.5 million between May 2011 and May 2012. Usually we have no regrets about spending our lives doing things besides hang out on the Santa Monica pier. Sure, the weather’s always nice there, but we think it’s nicer having all the things like showers and wi-fi and air conditioning that come with living indoors. Until now. Apparently Kate Upton was recently booted from the popular SoCal beach bum hangout after a wardrobe malfunction left her breasts exposed to the crowd that had gathered to watch her GQ photo shoot. As Kate tells the San Francisco Chronicle : “We were on that ride where the seat spins while the actual ride is spinning, and I’m wearing a one-piece. And all of a sudden the whole entire top falls off!” Kate said. ” I’m holding myself, laughing, turning bright red, but a lot of people are watching, so they kicked us out of the Santa Monica pier – it was so embarrassing. You wouldn’t think that would happen with a one-piece! ” And you’re telling us that NOT ONE of those street performers and hackey sack players and bodybuilders and guys who will write your name on a grain of rice took pictures? ‘I broke my clavicle, like, two months ago,’ Weezy tells MTV News at Atlanta’s Birthday Bash. By Rob Markman, with reporting by FLX Lil Wayne Photo: Lil Wayne takes his skateboarding seriously, so the Young Money cash king doesn’t really mind the bumps and bruises that come along with the sport. Actually, Weezy describes it as “fun.” MTV News caught up with Wayne on Saturday after he got offstage at Birthday Bash in Atlanta. Tunechi joined Kelly Rowland to perform their hit collaboration “Motivation,” but instead of simply walking out to the crowd of 20,000 like the rest of the night’s acts, Wayne rolled out onstage riding his board. Backstage, a shirtless Tune was riding around the Philips Arena, and those lucky enough to get close to him may have noticed a bright yellow bandage on his left shoulder. “I broke my clavicle, like, two months ago. What happened was, I didn’t go to the doctor when I broke it, so it healed on its own,” Weezy explained. “Whenever you let a break heal on its own, it don’t heal right, so I got a lot of bone callouses around it. “So this tape keeps my bone from popping out of my skin,” Wayne said, pointing to his shoulder with a childlike grin. “It’s fun.” This isn’t the first time the multiplatinum rap god has injured himself while skating. Last August, Weezy had to get nine stitches after he took a spill in a St. Louis skate park. “The Lou was good, but I busted my fuggin head at the sk8park! 9stitches! Gnarly gash over my left eye! Brown reportedly needed eight stitches to close up his wounds. By Gil Kaufman Chris Brown Photo: A spokesperson for the New York nightclub W.i.P. told MTV News on Friday (June 15) that club management had turned over to police investigators video footage of the melee between the entourages of Chris Brown and Drake . An NYPD spokesperson confirmed that the videotape had been turned over and that police were reviewing it as part of their investigation. At press time the police would not give any further details about the findings, but TMZ reported earlier in the day that Brown had given a statement to police and that his lawyer had handed over unspecified “physical evidence” that allegedly implicates Drake in the fight. Drake’s reps had also reportedly spoken to investigators, but the NYPD spokesperson declined to specify who had come forward so far, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation. The W.i.P spokesperson also cautioned that a widely circulated video labeled as footage of the fight is actually an unrelated clip shot in a different club in New Jersey. And while some sources have claimed that the fight was not over the men’s mutual history with Rihanna, an unnamed source told Us Magazine that the “We Found Love” singer “loves” the suggestion that she was the cause. “Men fighting over her? Are you kidding? Of course. [She] loves the drama,” the source said. Radar Online reported on Friday (June 15) that Rihanna consoled Brown on Thursday night at Jay-Z’s 40/40 club in New York all night and, “it was clear that she loved the attention he was giving her … those two have a thing for each other that will never die, no matter what, and they’re on their way to really being back together. Chris just adores her. And she tended to him, making sure the gash on his chin from the fight was OK.” The site also reported that Brown needed eight stitches to close up the wound on his chin and had to get a tetanus shot as well. His bodyguard, Big Pat, reportedly needed 20 stitches to close up the wound on his head and also received a tetanus shot, while Brown’s girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, sustained minor cuts and had some glass fragments removed from her skin. TMZ added that NBA player Tony Parker suffered a serious eye injury during the bottle blitz. “I was there with a bunch of friends when the fight broke out,” he said. “They started to throw bottles about. I got it all .. the cornea has been touched. I can’t do anything for seven days. But I was lucky. The injury won’t prevent me from competing in the Olympics in any way.” The star San Antonio Spurs point guard will represent his native France in the summer games. A person who was reportedly at the club on the night of the melee said it was sparked when a member of Drake’s entourage threw a bottle at Brown’s crew, but that “Chris and Drake never got in each other’s faces … it was entourage versus entourage, never Drake versus Chris.” Nobody seems to want to go on the record, but several anonymous witnesses also reportedly told TMZ that a member of Brown’s 16-member crew, “was throwing gang signs and screaming at Drake’s table.” Witnesses pegged that dreadlocked man as the “primary instigator” of the brawl, claiming he verbally taunted Drake’s table and yelled out, “somebody’s gonna die.” He also later allegedly threatened rapper Meek Mill, saying, “F— you, we’re gonna kill you n—a.” As this was going on, Brown is reported to have stood up and embraced the dreadlocked friend. If the purported gang signs were indeed thrown and are on the videotape being reviewed by police, TMZ reported that it could spell trouble for Brown, whose five years of probation from his felony assault conviction on Rihanna stipulates that he cannot associate with gang members. In another bit of potential fall-out from the scuffle, TMZ noted that the New York City Council is holding an emergency meeting with nightclub owners to discuss whether bottle service policies should be changed in the wake of the fight. “I am deeply concerned by reports of the bottle throwing melee that injured more than five people in SoHo this week,” said City Council speaker Christine Quinn in a statement. “That is why I have immediately convened an emergency meeting next week between my office, the NYPD, and the nightlife industry … The purpose of this meeting is to send a clear message to all nightclub patrons that bottles cannot be used as weapons and to determine if the guidelines surrounding bottle service need to be updated or reworked.” A number of photos have been posted online showing the purported aftermath of the bottle blitz, depicting the floor of the club awash in broken glass.
