Nude in Theaters: Shame and Sleeping Beauty [PIC]

We’ve got some really solid recommendations for movie nudity this weekend, so forget fighting over Xbox 360s at the mall and get thee to a movie theater! Finally opening stateside this weekend is Sleeping Beauty , the kinky arthouse flick that marks Sucker Punch (2011) star Emily Browning’ s nude debut. This is no accidental nip slip or 30-second butt shot: Emily gets completely nude, baring boobs, bush and butt in three scenes and her petite little pontoons and supple seat meat in three more. The plot is total film-student weirdness (based on the novella House of the Sleeping Beauties , Emily plays a college student/hooker who drugs herself into a deep sleep so her elderly clients can fondle her snoozing nude form), but you don’t need a PhD in cinema studies to appreciate the nudity- just a pulse. Also hitting theater screens this weekend is Shame , the first NC-17 movie to get a wide release since 2007’s Lust, Caution . The ladies are pumped for star Michael Fassbender’s naked Fassdong in this picture (so stay away if you’re terminally terrified of tools), but you’ll be pumping yourself when you see Drive and Wall Street 2 star Carey Mulligan making her full-frontal debut 20 minutes in. Fassbender plays a sex addict who plows his way through the young, attractive female population of Manhattan, so look out for additional nudity from Mari-Ange Ramirez , Amy Hargreaves , Charisse Bellante and Nicole Beharie. Plus, DeeDee Luxe and Calamity Chang skingage Fassbender in a FFM three-way so steamy, even New York magazine had to admit in their review: “[Even though] the sex they’re engaging in is self-destructive and soul-destroying … it will admittedly make for terrific screen captures on Mr. Skin. ” Mr. Skin members can check out more from Emily Browning and Carey Mulligan right here at MrSkin.com

REVIEW: Strange, Hypnotic Sleeping Beauty Sends No Clear Message — Thank God

When Australian writer-director Julia Leigh’s Sleeping Beauty made its debut at Cannes last May, the responses among critics I talked to veered from bland outrage to vexed boredom. That doesn’t leave a lot of middle ground, and I had to see Sleeping Beauty a second time before I was reasonably sure what I thought about it. I’m still not reasonably sure what I think about it: The picture is clinical in its approach and its technique, yet it leaves so many questions unanswered — it’s straightforward in a vague, maddening way. It’s also strangely, obliquely compelling.

REVIEW: Ralph Fiennes Takes a Dud of a Play and Turns It into a Not-Bad Coriolanus

It’s dangerous to underestimate modern-day reinterpretations of Shakespeare, a la Baz Luhrmann’s William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet and Michael Almereyda’s Hamlet, not because Shakespeare necessarily needs to be modernized, but because it’s astonishing how much retooling, rejiggering and restuffing he can withstand: His work is like a magic carpet bag that never gets filled up or worn out.

In Dreams: Celebrity Nudes on DVD and Blu-ray 11-8-11 [PICS]

We’ve got the fluff dreams are made of nude on Blu-ray this week, from Angelina Jolie as a scorching Sapphic supermodel in the unrated version of Gia (1998), Isabella Rossellini fully nude in the kinky cult classic Blue Velvet (1986), and the undead, undressed working girls of Frankenhooker (1990). Plus, style reigns in the arty neo-noir One in the Gun (2010) and Catherine Breillat ‘s equally atmospheric The Sleeping Beauty (2010), both nude on DVD. The Change-Up (2011) is also new on DVD and Blu-ray, but proceed at your own risk: those funbags are CGI fakes: When a woman is as gorgeous, sexually charged, and self-consumed as supermodel Gia Carangi was, it’s hard to imagine her rolling out of bed and looking into a dressing-room mirror without stopping to slip a hand into her swampy delta and strumming the bean while feasting her eyes on her immaculate self. Honestly, what could compel such a perfect creature to do anything other than loll stoned all day in bed with tweaking fingers trading off duty on nipples and love nub? The answer, according to the singularly sexy biopic Gia (1998), is that only another chick of equal, complementary appeal- future superstar superstar Angelina Jolie – can capture the attention and motivate the affections of such a splendid narcissist. Take a long, hard look. Could you possibly have behaved differently, if you were her? What evil lurks in the grasslands of American suburbia? A severed ear crawling with ants, drug-sniffing Dennis Hopper , and a full-frontal Isabella Rossellini , that’s what, at least in the world conjured by loon director David Lynch in Blue Velvet (1986). Teen sleuth Kyle MacLachlan solves a twisted mystery by endangering his mind, body, and soul in a world of kinky, nightmarish freaks along the way. If you like your women stark raving mad and completely starkers, then say hello to Isabella’s bouncing sisters and their bearded cousin running naked and turning Blue Velvet into a blue movie. The splatterific cult classic Frankenhooker (1990) follows med-school dropout Jeffrey Franken ( James Lorinz ) as he cruises the red-light district looking for prostitutes to supply his girlfriend’s ( Patty Mullen ) decapitated but still living head with a stitched-together body using his new invention, “supercrack”, as bait. Fast-forward to the 1 hour mark, where Patty bares her frankentush and frankenhooters for a john, then franenstraddles, frankenrubs, and frankenslays the poor bastard. Look for a whole bevy of topless hookers, including Vicki Darnell and Jennifer Delora in a supercrack-fueled orgy in a hotel room. Take a twisty, turny stroll down neo-noir lane in the LA thriller One in the Gun (2010). Surrealism and Lynchian ambiance are the order of the day in this tale of Mickey Lewis ( Steven Man ), a down-on-his-luck artist who is hired to paint the home of seductive millionaire Katrina Webb ( Katherine Randolph ). A series of double, triple, even quadruple-crosses lead Mickey to a fateful desert motel filled with secrets about his past, present and future. Femme fatales Katherine Randolph and Kristina Coolish kick things up a notch or ten by appearing fully nude, Kristina at the 20 minute mark and Katherine 24 minutes in. Add some skintillating T&A from Kika Perez, and you’ve got a slice of skinema that’ll really cock your trigger. The classic fairy tale gets the sexy treatment you’d expect from director Catherine Breillat in The Sleeping Beauty (2010). When princess Anastasia ( Julia Artamonov ) was born, an evil witch decreed that she’d die at an early age; three good witches tried to reverse the curse, but the best they could do is cause her to fall asleep at age six, only to awaken a hundred years later at the physical age of sixteen. When Anastasia finally awakens, she has steamy affairs with both a gypsy girl ( Rhizlaine El Cohen ) and young nobleman Johan ( David Chausse ). Julia gives us a lingering look at her love muffins lying in bed with her lady love 1 hour, 9 minutes in, and again with her guy 1 hour, 15 minutes in. That’ll give you some sweet, sweet dreams! Two best friends swap bodies after peeing in a magic fountain in the comedy The Change-Up (2011). Dave Lockwood ( Jason Bateman ) is an uptight family man who longs for the freedom skinjoyed by his freewheeling single buddy Mitch Planko ( Ryan Reynolds ). But Mitch also envies his buddy’s stable life, and after a night out discussing this very issue the inebriated twosome stop to pee in a fountain before heading home. That pee turns out to be the diddle of destiny when, the next morning, Mitch and Dave awaken to find they’ve switched bodies. Leslie Mann (left) appears to make her nude debut baring boobs as Dave’s long-suffering wife, and Olivia Wilde similarly appears to show some suckle stalk underneath her long black hair as she mounts Mitch/Dave, but don’t be fooled. Those ta-tas are CGI imposters added in post-production. And that’s a change-up we can’t get behind. CU Next Tuesday, skin fans, for all the newest and nudest releases on DVD and Blu-ray right here at the Mr. Skin blog!

Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton Get Into The Octagon for Warrior

Would you have loved The Fighter more if Micky Ward and Dicky Eklund fought each other at the end, and if Paramount dropped the “The” in the film’s title? Good news, then! The trailer for Warrior has arrived to make those improvements — and it even ignores the Masshole accents. (Which may or may not be an improvement from where you’re sitting.)

Hailee Steinfeld In Talks for Romeo and Juliet

Gone are the days when Hailee Steinfeld had to define ridiculous words like “blingatude” in Kmart commercials. The Oscar nominee is in talks to play the lead in a new adaptation of Romeo and Juliet from Gosford Park screenwriter Julian Fellowes. The movie, budgeted at $15 million, will shoot in Italy later this year. Steinfeld will also revisit the classics in a “revisionist” Sleeping Beauty from screenwriter Linsday Devlin. [ THR ]
