In the months since she married Prince Harry , Meghan Markle’s life has developed into a unique mix of fantasy and nightmare. She may have gone from actress on an obscure basic cable legal drama to international icon, but that transformation has come with a hefty emotional toll. Part of the problem is the British tabloid press, which has been benefited tremendously from publishing scathing headlines at Meghan’s expense. But what’s reportedly much more devastating to Meghan is the role that her awful family has played in spreading damaging secrets and lies in an effort to destroy her public image. Sources close to the Duchess of Sussex say she’s not terribly surprised that her half-sister, Samantha Markle, is attempting to cash in with constant slander, as the failed actress has been deeply envious of Meghan for her entire life. However, Meg is absolutely floored by her father’s decision to take part in Samantha’s relentless bullying campaign. According to new reports from multiple outlets, just prior to her wedding, Meghan penned a heartfelt letter to her father, in which she implored him to stop making disparaging comments to the press. “Dad, I’m so heartbroken. I love you. I have one father. Please stop victimizing me through the media so we can repair our relationship,” reads a portion of the letter, according to the Daily Mail . Earlier this week, five friends of Meghan’s spoke to People magazine and revealed that their objective in doing so was to “stand up against the global bullying” that she’s endured since entering the global spotlight.” They revealed that in response to his daughter’s letter Thomas Markle suggested that the two of them participate in a photoshoot. “She feels like, ‘That’s the opposite of what I’m saying. I’m telling you I don’t want to communicate through the media, and you’re asking me to communicate through the media. Did you hear anything I said?'” said one of Meghan’s friends. “I think she will always feel genuinely devastated by what he has done,” remarked another. The consensus among the anonymous friend group is that Thomas and Samantha are intentionally causing harm to the Duchess’ public image — not to mention her psyche — with no regard for the fact that Meghan is currently pregnant with her first child. “We worry about what this is doing to her and the baby,” said one female associate. “It’s wrong to put anyone under this level of emotional trauma, let alone when they’re pregnant.” In response to Samantha Markle’s claims that Thomas has been unable to contact his daughter, the friends revealed that that’s simply not the case. “He knows how to get in touch with her,” remarked a former costar. “He’s never called; he’s never texted. It’s super painful because Meg was always so dutiful.
