Elizabeth Smart’s Mother Faced Kidnapper

Now a Mormon misionary in France, Elizabeth Smart is an American woman who survived a nine-month kidnapping and is now a political activist. More than seven years after the abduction of Smart, one of her abductors was sentenced last Friday to 15 years imprisonment by a federal judge. Wanda Barzee apologized to Elizabeth’s family during the sentencing hearing in Salt Lake City. Barzee pleaded guilty in helping Brian David Mitchell kidnap Smart, then 14, from her Salt Lake City home in 2002. “I know the gravity of my crimes and how serious they are,” said Barzee, 64. “I’m just so sorry again for all the pain and suffering I caused upon the Smart family.” Previously, Smart’s mom Lois had scolded Barzee, telling her, “What you did to Elizabeth and our family was wrong and evil.” “You hurt our family in ways you’ll never know,” Lois Smart said. “It was unconscionable what you did to [Elizabeth]. I hope you will be able to make peace with your maker.” U.S. District Judge Dale Kimball gave Barzee seven years of credit for time she has already served and ordered her to spend the rest of her term at a medical and psychiatric center for female federal prisoners in Texas. In exchange for the sentence, Barzee agreed to testify against Mitchell, whose trial is slated to begin this November. Mitchell, 56, is accused of abducting Smart at knifepoint from her bed and forcing her to become his plural wife. Smart was held for nine months by Mitchell and Barzee in the Salt Lake City foothills and San Diego area before their arrest in 2003 when they were spotted walking with Smart in a Salt Lake City suburb. Kim’s not exactly hurting for kash these days, of kourse, so we doubt she kares. But it’s somewhat surprising the Kendra tape has garnered this much interest. Man, Jennifer Aniston just looks so hot … literally. In a new ad campaign for SmartWater, the actress is drenched in sweat, showing Brad Pitt what he’s missing … her ripped, impressively toned abs. Wearing workout gear and clutching a bottle of water, the physucally fit 41-year-old gives the camera a breathless look. The text of the ad reads: “Working out feels great… afterwards … That’s why I drink Smart. It’s hydration I can feel. (And that’s one part of my routine I never sweat.)” Enough talk. More hotness (and fitness) … Yoga and fitness buff Aniston, who some say has the best body ever , has been a brand spokeswoman for Glaceau SmartWater, since back in 2007. Hey, it’s not Jennifer Aniston nude (like her new perfume ads) but it’s pretty solid. Makes you want to … work out? Maybe a little if she were there?

Texas Appliance Rebate Starts Monday – Texas Powerful Smart – Today begins the signing up for the appliance rebate program and if you are thinking to upgrade your dishwasher, hot water heater and fridge, then do something now. Texas residents who apply for a rebate must replace an old, but functional, appliance from one of the eligible categories with a new ENERGY STAR or CEE qualified appliance. Rebate amount vary based on what you buy. For example, the rebate for a new washing machine ranges from $150 to $255 depending on the type and if you recycle the old one. In some reports, rebates range from $45 up to $1,000 and may even be more if you qualify for the additional rebate through your electric utility. Katy State Rep. U.S. Moviegoers Will Have Better And Healthier Snack Options

It isn’t quite a surprise to see or do things we traditionally do.  Fried chicken and gravy, pasta and wine, pizza and beer..fruit-vegetable-yogurt and movies??? What?? If Sony executives get their way, U.S. moviegoers will have the  better option of healthier snacks when watching movies. In a recent speech at ShoWest, the country’s largest tradeshow for the movie theater industry, Chief Executive Michael Lynton of Sony Pictures Entertainment  called upon concessionaires to provide betther and healthier options like fruit, granola, yogurt and vegetables with dip instead of high-calorie soda, buttery popcorn and candies. It’s “the right thing to do for our industry, for audiences and for our country,” said Lynton. Lynton’s colleague, Sony’s Executive Vice President for Global Communications Jim Kennedy, attempted to fight the causes of child obesity in his previous post with the Clinton Foundation. With this new intiative, he is telling CNN that Sony is asking theaters to accommodate the 60 percent of parents who feel that their overall moviegoing experience would be improved if there were healthier options available at the concession stand. Nielsen conducted a poll revealing that two-thirds of all moviegoers and three-quarters of parents would be more likely to buy the healthier options if available. Kennedy, himself a fan of a popcorn and M&Ms combo “I go back and forth between the sweet and the salt — though I wish the M&Ms came in smaller bags.” says neither set will suffer. “We’re not asking theaters to stop selling sodas, and we know most moviegoers are unlikely to change their habits. It just makes sense to offer more choices.” “It’s a new source of income for theaters. They’ve already innovated by adding digital technology and more comfortable seats. This is consistent with that level of innovation,” he said. The National Association of Theatre Owners Representatives and several major chains were unavailable for comment. According to SmartMoney.com interview with Warren Miller, senior equity analyst for stock tracking service Morningstar, of every dollar spent at the concession stand, 85 cents is profit. I can only assume it’s got something to do with evolution, you know how the stupid dogs in the dog park are always the biggest and strongest, while the smart ones can survive using their intelligence, the idiot ones rely on their ability to run fast, because based on Audrina’s body, she could run away from oncoming traffic if she happened to step into the shit, where as someone like me doesn’t know how to run, but would never get myself in the situation in the first place.
