Congressman Danny Davis’ Teenage Grandson Murdered Over His Shoes In Chicago Greiving grandfather and U.S. Congressman Danny Davis lost his 15-year-old grandson, Jovan Wilson, over “gym shoes and clothes” during a home-invasion at his residence in Chicago last night according to ChicagoTribune . Another tragic instance of a young person losing their life in the embattled city. “He was a typical 15-year-old,” the congressman said. “He liked basketball. If you listened to him he was a basketball star, but he liked basketball and music. All those kinds of things. He was an avid sports fan, he knew all about, you know, the stats of different players.” Two teens, 15 and 17, boy and girl respectively, broke into Davis’ south side home where Jovan, his 3 siblings and an uncle were. Police say the teen assailants targets Jovan and wanted his sneakers (at the risk of being irresponsible, no one would be surprised if these were Jordans). After a brief argument, the 15-year-old boy pulled a pistol and shot Jovan in the head. He was pronounced dead on the scene. “Initially it was that he had been shot and then actually the police commander called me and indicated that, there during a home invasion, he had been shot and it didn’t look good,” Davis said. “Immediately I simply left and came out to the area where it had taken place,” Davis said. “It’s totally disconcerting.” In speaking on the gun violence in his city, Davis revealed a heartbreaking truth: “I guess that I always knew that the possibility existed that it could happen close to me,” Davis said. “As a matter of fact, I thought it was so unfortunate because Jovan had just reached a point, 15, his grades had improved at school. His father had just told me about how proud of him that he was because he was catching on and realizing that all of his life was in front of him.” R.I.P. Javon Wilson. He tells RadarOnline that his daughter doesn’t belong at the bing… “I’m not giving her child support right now because she’s taking my daughter to prison and I have asked her numerous times to stop doing that,” he told Radar. Copes normally pays Almufti $450 a month in support for their daughter. “My daughter is eight years old, she is not happy to go into a prison,” he insisted. “If you want me to give you money, I will, but at the same time you have a responsibility to our daughter.” and added that even Phaedra Parks doesn’t bring her children to the jail. He blasted, “If Apollo is in my daughter’s life, that’s no problem — but don’t take her to prison. Phaedra doesn’t even take her kids to prison!” In another twist, Copes is confirming that his ex-wife is filming RHOA and bringing their baby girl along for the ride. SMH! “She took my daughter out of school a week an half ago to go to Atlanta to film,” he told Radar. “Who takes their kid out of school to go film when it’s not educational? Philando Castile Shooting Update The officer who fatally shot Philando Castile has been charged, but only with manslaughter. Jeronimo Yanez is facing second-degree manslaughter and two charges of dangerous discharge of a firearm. During the press conference where Yanez’charges were announced, Prosecutor John Choi noted that the officer and his partner pulled over Castile July 6 because he matched the description of a robbery suspect with a “wide-set nose.” He also added that “There simply was no objective threat posed to Officer Yanez.” The Star Tribune reports: Jeronimo Yanez faces three criminal charges for the killing of Philando Castile, Ramsey County Attorney John Choi announced Wednesday. Choi said it was his conclusion that “use of deadly force by Officer Yanez was not justified.” Yanez was charged Wednesday with second-degree manslaughter and two felony counts of dangerous discharge of a firearm. Before Yanez, no officer had been charged in more than 150 police-involved deaths in Minnesota since 2000. Yanez was summoned to make his first appearance in Ramsey County court at 1:30 Friday. Choi said the charges were filed following 19 weeks of investigation and a review of the dash cam footage and audio footage taken during the shooting. […] In explaining how Yanez’s actions did not meet the legal standard for justified use of deadly force, Choi said “it is not enough… to express subjective fear of death or great bodily harm.” Mind you Philando told Officer Yanez that he had a weapon and assured him that he was not reaching for it before he was shot 7 times. Well this is a start, but is a second-degree manslaughter charge really enough? Furthermore do YOU think it will stick???
