Via NYDN : A man shot while walking away from two Los Angeles County deputies tried crawling away before succumbing to his gunshot wounds Saturday morning, according to a video of the shooting. The two deputies fired more than a dozen shots at the allegedly armed man as he walked away and continued to do so after knocking him to the ground, according to video shared with KTLA-TV. Several calls to 911 said a black male wearing a checkered shirt had brandished a handgun and fired shots at several locations before 11 a.m. Saturday, authorities said. In a video shot from a nearby restaurant, he appears to calmly walk away seconds before deputies opened fire. The suspect allegedly refused to drop a weapon and pointed it at the officers before being shot, police said citing investigators and witnesses. Anti-police brutality protesters rallied around Robertson, a father of three children, at the site of his death where police stood by wearing riot gear and ready to use tear gas. SMH.

According to Esquire reports and forensic evidence Christ wasn’t rocking blonde locks and blue eyes… From the first time Christian children settle into Sunday school classrooms, an image of Jesus Christ is etched into their minds. In North America he is most often depicted as being taller than his disciples, lean, with long, flowing, light brown hair, fair skin and light-colored eyes. Familiar though this image may be, it is inherently flawed. A person with these features and physical bearing would have looked very different from everyone else in the region where Jesus lived and ministered. Surely the authors of the Bible would have mentioned so stark a contrast. On the contrary, according to the Gospel of Matthew, when Jesus was arrested in the garden of Gethsemane before the Crucifixion, Judas Iscariot had to indicate to the soldiers whom Jesus was because they could not tell him apart from his disciples. Further clouding the question of what Jesus looked like is the simple fact that nowhere in the New Testament is Jesus described, nor have any drawings of him ever been uncovered. There is the additional problem of having neither a skeleton nor other bodily remains to probe for DNA. In the absence of evidence, our images of Jesus have been left to the imagination of artists. The influences of the artists’ cultures and traditions can be profound, observes Carlos F. Cardoza-Orlandi, associate professor of world Christianity at Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta. “While Western imagery is dominant, in other parts of the world he is often shown as black, Arab or Hispanic.” And so the fundamental question remains: What did Jesus look like? Lance Stephenson And Baby Mama Back In Court Over $12,000 A Month Support The mother of Lance Stephenson’s two children said the NBA baller tried to lowball her out of court on their kids child support – but she wasn’t having it. “He told me they didn’t need the amount of money I’m receiving now, and he’ll do anything for them, and he doesn’t want to come to court anymore,” Feby Torres testified Friday during her child support trial in Brooklyn Family Court. Torres said she didn’t respond to his text message request back in September, instead opting to have her day in court. Torres wants her current $6,000 a month child support payment doubled to $12,000 a month, with the extra money going to things like childcare so she can go back to school and finance a move to a safer area of Brooklyn. “I would like the court to award me something reasonable, something that fits my children’s needs,” Torres said. Torres testified that she’s living in such a rough part of Brooklyn that she heard “several” gunshots two days ago right outside her daughter’s bedroom window when she was home with the kids. More child support would mean she could move to a safer nabe and buy her son furniture. “The night before yesterday, there was a shooting directly around the corner from my home,” Torres said. “It was fairly close to my home. I could hear it.” But Stephenson’s lawyer Laurence Greenberg said the current $6,000 a month was more than enough for her and the kids – Laylah, 4 and Lance Jr., 1. Torres testified that she hadn’t gotten a job since she dropped out of school more than a year ago, and Greenberg said her financial records show she managed to squirrel away nearly $4,000 of the child support in a savings account. All the while the stay-at-home mom has been appearing for free in music videos, like 2 Milly’s “Milly Rock.” “There is money being spent where by there’s no need for additional child support,” Greenberg said. “Ms. Torres makes no financial contributions to the children, has her own personal expenses met…she is enhancing her own personal lifestyle.” Greenberg, said Stephenson was willing to pay any reasonable expense for his kids, including the $3,000 she said she needs for their summer camp. “This is all very nice,” Torres’ lawyer Daniel Nottes said, “but the kids are still living in a place where there’s gun shots.” Stephenson didn’t comment during the hearing, but will take the stand in March when the case is back in court. Somalian Man Angry His 12-Year-Old Was Asked If Her Backpack Had A Bomb SMH. This is so racist it makes our skin crawl. A Somalian eight grader was questioned by a teacher at Shiloh Middle School in Gwinnett County whether she was carrying a bomb in her backpack. According to AJC reports : Abdirazik Aden, who was born in Somalia, said that on Monday, his 12-year-old daughter was going to class when a teacher stopped her and asked what she had in her bookbag. He said his daughter told her books. The unidentified teacher responded by asking, her if she had a bomb in her bag? “My daughter wanted to know why she was asking her that,” he said. He said his daughter was upset when she called to tell him about the incident. He went to the school to see what happened and was told by an assistant principal that it was a mistake. “I was upset,” said Aden, who lives in Snellville and works as a truck driver and grocery store owner. “I was going to take my daughter out (of that school) “We are from Africa, we are Muslims, we live in America,” he said. “I didn’t teach my children to hate people or to think they are better than other people. I don’t want nobody to treat them like that.” We don’t blame him for being pissed. What would you do if it was your kid? Would you demand she be switched into a new class or a new school? Would you sue??? Here’s the school’s side of the story: Sloan Roach, spokeswoman, for Gwinnett County Public Schools, confirmed the incident happened. “The remark was not appropriate, but based on their conversation and investigation,” school officials don’t believe it was made with “ill intent,” Roach said. She said it was a regular teacher, not a substitute, who made the remark. The teacher was trying to get the students to put away their backpacks quickly and made the remark to the student that was basically, what do you have in there, a bomb? The school’s principal, Eli Welch, conducted an investigation and spoke with the teacher and the parent. At least they admit the remark was inappropriate. SMH. Flickr
A NY Man Arrested For Hate Crime After Slapping Muslim Restaurant Employee 26-year-old Robert Murino was arrested for a hate crime after he went on an angry anti-muslim rant and slapped an employee at a New York restaurant according to a report in the NYDailyNews … “How do you feel about ISIS,” he asked one worker, according to court papers. When Tahir Mahood, 34, of Howard Beach, Queens, tried to calm Murino down, Murino slapped him. “I’ve been here for the last two years and nothing ever happened like this before. … As a Muslim, I want to be polite, I don’t want to fight anyone,” he said. At that point, Murino was escorted out, but he returned a short time later, picked up a chair and smashed two glass partitions at the food counter. Aroldis Chapman Accused Of Choking His Girlfriend A baseball star has been accused of choking his baby’s mother and firing off a gun 8 times within their garage. However, with little to no cooperation from the victim, it’s not looking like charges will be filed… Via People : Cincinnati Reds All-Star pitcher Aroldis Chapman allegedly shoved and choked his girlfriend and then went into the garage of his Davie, Florida, home alone and fired eight rounds with a handgun into a concrete wall, according to a police report obtained by PEOPLE. The alleged incident occurred on Oct. 30 but was first reported on Monday in a Yahoo Sports report. The report states that Chapman, 27, “was involved in a physical altercation with his girlfriend… over information she obtained from his cellphone.” According to the report, Chapman’s girlfriend told cops that he ” ‘choked’ her by placing his hands around her neck, but did not prevent her from breathing at any time.” She also allegedly told them that he pushed her up against a wall and caused her to fall to the floor. Chapman allegedly admitted to cops that during the argument, he left the house and got into the passenger seat of his Land Rover, where he punched the side window with his left hand – his pitching hand – causing a laceration. After that, Chapman allegedly told cops, he locked himself in his garage alone and shot several rounds inside. Police recovered eight shell casings. But once cops needed to press charges, Chapman’s girlfriend changed her tune… No arrests were made in the incident. Investigator Mark Brent wrote: “Due to conflicting stories, lack of cooperation by the victim and witnesses, no physical injuries, and the fact that Mr. Chapman fired his gun in a closed garage with no one present, there is insufficient evidence to charge him with a crime.” Chapman’s girlfriend, who is the mother of his infant child, left the house with police still there, the report states. When Brent asked the girlfriend’s brother to pass along his telephone number, the brother allegedly told Brent that she probably wouldn’t call him, the report states. Interesting. Apparently the MLB is still looking into this one. No word yet on what plans, if any, they have to discipline one of their all-star players over this incident… Getty
