“The Wire” Actor Melvin Williams Dead At Age 73 If you’re a fan of the acclaimed HBO series “The Wire”, you surely remember the character of Deacon, a church man who was “all up in everybody’s s#!t”. Although he was acting, Melvin Williams wasn’t exactly playing a role. He was really in these streets HEAVY back in the day. Via WashingtonPost Melvin Williams, whose life as a West Baltimore drug kingpin in the 1960s and post-prison redemption earned him a place on HBO’s “The Wire,” died Dec. 3 at a hospital in the city. He was 73. Citing friends of Mr. Williams, the Baltimore Sun reported the cause was cancer. Known as “Little Melvin” — or Slim or Black, the latter for his preference for dark clothing — he once ruled the illegal drug trade along the city’s Pennsylvania Avenue that prosecutors said grossed $1 million a day. He served many years in federal prison for drug and gun convictions, and was one of the first criminals profiled on the BET program “American Gangster.” He later spoke about having undergone a personal religious awakening while in prison, warned against drug use and counseled young men to steer clear of gang culture. While still a prisoner, Williams told a Federal Judge of his drug-dealing deliverance: “Sometime in my 50s, I became aware that there was a God in charge, and not a Melvin” Williams’ story is fascinating and we highly suggest you looking him up. In the caption he brags about getting the tiger as a gift, and while that is impressive, tigers are also endangered. SC Legislator Hands Out Confederate Christmas Cards A lawmaker in South Carolina — yes, the same South Carolina where 9 innocent people were killed by a Confederate flag-weilding racist psycho — just handed out Christmas cards to his counterparts featuring the stars and bars waiving high on the grounds of the Statehouse, referencing “memories of a happier time” and chastising his republican counterparts for the “betrayal” they committed by voting to remove the flag from the premises. Via The Charlotte Observer : A South Carolina lawmaker has sent out a Christmas card featuring a photo of the Confederate flag that refers to “memories of a happier time” and suggests those who voted to remove the flag from in front of the Statehouse ask God for forgiveness for their “betrayal.” Rep. Chris Corley said Thursday that he sent the cards to his Republican colleagues as a joke. He says he sent a card with a photo of his children to others. The card displays a photo of the flag when it still flew in front of the Statehouse. Lawmakers voted in July to remove the banner in response to the fatal shooting of nine black parishioners in a Charleston church. The suspect in the shooting was seen in photos posing with the Confederate flag. SMH. So what was the joke exactly?? Because this guy being ignorant and insensitive seems pretty serious to us…

Witnesses Mistake Stabbing At Art Basel Event As Performance Art Miami’s annual Art Basel draws thousands of celebrities, artists, art enthusiasts, and partygoers from all over the world every December — making for an interesting mix of characters on the streets of South Beach. Two women got into an intense argument while attending an exhibit on Friday night…but since the women were positioned so near to other pieces of contemporary art, no one realized the heated exchange was indeed real. Not even when one woman pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the other repeatedly in the arms and neck. Via PageSix : One woman stabbed another during a fight at world-famous Art Basel Miami Beach, causing at least one patron to think he was watching performance art. Miami Beach Detective Kathleen Prieto told the Miami Herald the suspect stabbed the victim’s arms and neck during Friday’s fight. She said the victim is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. The suspect was arrested. The fight happened near an exhibit by artist Naomi Fisher. She told the Herald one witness thought it was a performance with fake blood until he realized the blood was real. The paper says others thought the police tape cordoning the area was an installation. Art Basel Miami Beach spokeswoman Sara Fitzmaurice said in an email to The Associated Press Friday, “The attack was an isolated incident that was immediately secured. Our thoughts are with the victim.” Damn!!! Hopefully she will be alright. We wonder how many people walked by without helping, or even took pics with their phones while this attack took place?? SMH.

Dressed in holiday green and a knit cap and flanked by two human cymbal stands, Perez uses four taut tushes as bongos to turn the beat around. The booty-licious drum sets, each in tiny red thongs, are not dressed for winter. Two of the butts presumably belong to men, as a coda suggests. No matter, the cheeky campaign has drawn ire about being sexist. “I really don’t understand this video at all. It’s 2015, almost 2016 and this is like a step back in time.
