Actor Windell D. Middlebrooks Dead At 36 What a sad, unexpected passing . Via HollywoodLife : Windell D. Middlebrooks, who has appeared on countless television shows including Parks and Recreation, Cougar Town and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, died on Mar. 9. After being found unresponsive at his Los Angeles home, Windell was transferred to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Windell, who gained global recognition for his role in the Miller High Life commercials as the “Miller High Life Delivery Guy,” had his whole life ahead of him. Along with his involvement on the aforementioned series, he was also a series regular on the ABC drama, Body of Proof. While no official cause of death has been announced, foul play is not suspected to have played a role. Originally from Texas, Windell attended Sterling College and then went on to receive an MFA from the University of California, Irvine for acting. He got his professional start acting on Disney channel shows including The Suite Life on Deck and Hannah Montana. So sad. Our thoughts are with his friends and family.
“Blurred Lines” Ruled A Copyright Infringement The ongoing saga of Robin Thick’s smash hit “Burred Lines” has finally come to a close, and the courts have ruled that he and Pharrell did indeed steal Marvin Gaye’s iconic “Got To Give It Up” to create the song of 2013. The hit stayed at #1 for 12 weeks…and notably drew the attention of Marvin Gaye’s family. As the song’s writer/singer Robin, and producer Pharrell , must now pay up $7.3 million to Marvin’s family to make up for the copyright infringement on Marvin Gaye’s 1977 hit. TI was not ruled to be responsible for any copyright violation. A rep for Pharrell spoke with TMZ an stated that they are reviewing the case and considering additional options, asserting that the song was “created from his heart, mind and soul and the song was not taken from anyone or anywhere else.” YouTube
Florida Woman Hit By Train While Texting You all have GOT to stop playing with your phones near moving trains ! A Florida woman walked right into the path of an oncoming freight train while texting on her phone. Surprisingly…the woman lived to tell the tale and only suffered fractures to her arm and injuries to her leg. A 27-year-old woman had a miraculous escape after walking into a moving freight train while texting on her mobile phone. Sheena Keynna was hit by the train on Monday afternoon as she walked around the crossing gates and into the path of the passing freight train in Lakeland in central Florida. Police Sgt. Gary Gross told the Ledger of Lakeland the woman ‘wasn’t paying attention.’ She suffered a compound fracture to her right arm, and her right leg was injured. She was taken to a hospital, but no additional information was available. The train had two locomotives and was carrying consumer goods from Winter Haven to Jacksonville. Two Amtrak trains were delayed during the investigation. Let this be a lesson everyone — look up from those smartphones sometimes!

Chinese Doctors Remove Chopstick From Toddler’s Brain This kid might not be responsible enough to feed himself yet. Via NYDN : A Chinese boy who got a chopstick lodged inside his head for more than a week is recovering after doctors removed a 2 ½ inch portion of the eating utensil from the toddler’s infected brain. The nearly 2-year-old boy from Chaoyang City in Northeast China’s Liaoning province inadvertently stuffed a chopstick up his nostril when he fell on the implement while eating a meal in late January, CCTV America reported. Hanghang had been eating chow mein with his parents when the accident happened, and his mom and dad removed the visible portion of the chopstick from their child’s nose before taking him to a local hospital for an examination, according to the Daily Mirror. Doctors didn’t give the boy an X-ray and released him, only to have his parents bring the toddler back 10 days later complaining that their child felt drowsy and mentally fatigued, CCTV reported. “Half of the chopstick was totally stuck in his head from his nose,” Li Shaoyi, an attending doctor at Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University, told the state news organization. “They only took out half of the chopstick and the other half was still stuck in it.” Medical officials completed the procedure on Tuesday and reported that the boy had made significant improvements but needed to stay in the hospital longer to treat his brain infection, CCTV reported. The chopstick hit a non-functional section of the brain, doctors told the TV channel. You can’t take your eyes off these little kids for two seconds, can you? SMH.

Lee first opened up the can of worms by responding to Mo’Nique’s claims that she was blackballed from Hollywood after filming “ Precious.” He insisted that it was actually Mo’Nique’s “unreasonable demands” while working on “Precious” that negatively affected her career, and she’s been making her media rounds to speak on her side of things ever since. Man With Clean Criminal Record Jailed For Murder Over Facebook Posts A Las Vegas man was taken into custody and carted back to his hometown of San Diego in July 2014. He had no idea why he was being picked up until authorities let him know he was being taken in for a string of murders in the state of California. Even though he was positive that he had never killed anyone — and ironically, the DA in charge of his arrest was certain of this too — his perceived association with gang members who may have had landed him behind bars. Via Voice of San Diego : District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis is using an obscure criminal statute, Penal Code section 182.5, for what appears to be the first time ever in California to prosecute a group of 15 San Diego men, including Harvey. The DA has admitted that some of the men had nothing to do with the underlying crimes at the heart of the case – a series of shootings by Lincoln Park gang members in 2013. Rather, they’re charged with conspiracy for belonging to the same gang as the shooters. For that, they could go to prison for life. It’s guilt by association, basically, and if federal law is any guide, it’s perfectly constitutional. The law says a person who “willfully promotes, furthers, assists, or benefits” from a gang crime can be charged with conspiracy. The benefit Harvey received out of the shootings, according to the DA, is street cred. If someone in the gang commits a crime, the reasoning goes, the whole gang gets a boost to its reputation. “They’re saying I benefited because my stature, my respect, went up. I didn’t even know I had any stature. I don’t understand how someone can benefit from something they don’t even know exists,” said Harvey. “It’s not a quantifiable thing, there’s no measure for stature. They’re the ones quantifying it.” You may recall a local rapper was arrested under the same code last month, for his own perceived affiliation with the same gang — except his “crime” was name-dropping gang members and landmarks that associate him. But Harvey’s association with the gang comes from “evidence” compiled mainly from Facebook: Harvey’s case has none of those sexy First Amendment issues. Much of the evidence being presented against him isn’t rap lyrics but Facebook posts that prosecutors say link him unmistakably to the Lincoln Park gang. But he, like Duncan, has no criminal record and is facing up to life in prison if convicted. Harvey insists he’s no gang member – just a victim of living in a gang-heavy neighborhood, and thus, falling into the state’s gang database by virtue of having been seen in gang territory and socializing with other gang members, i.e., his friends and neighbors. Phony Promoter Sells Bogus Drake Concert Tickets Fans were shocked earlier this week as the announcement came out that Drake is going on 8 tour dates in the month of May. Presumably in promo of his surprise release “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late,” in Miami and Houston alone, fans have clamored to get their hands on the $350 tickets for the chance to see Champagne Papi live and in person. The only issue? Drake hasn’t signed on for any tour dates. Anywhere. Whatsoever. According to TMZ , Drake just recently caught wind of the scam. Neither he, the rest of YMCMB, nor anyone in his OVO camp have any idea who the promoter is that’s cashing in at his fans’ expense…but he’s pissed and “out for blood.” Right now, he’s advising his poor gullible fans to call the police if they got scammed…because he isn’t planning shows in those cities anytime soon.
