On the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Shelley Smith has come out and revealed her own diagnosis on Twitter. “I now join the one in eight women who are battling breast cancer. Early detection will save my life. Tell loved ones,” wrote the long-time sports journalist, who has been with ESPN since 1997. “My tough cancer treatment will begin in January. Until then, I spread the praise of mammograms and ultrasound. Early detection.” Smith also acknowledged her “cancer warrior sisters” in a subsequent message, along with “so many others who are inspiring me.” “And remember, the warning signs are not just lumps,” added the Emmy winner, who has also written multiple books. “Check for irregular shape, skin condition and pain. And follow up.” Smith recently spoke with Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts about her own breast cancer battle and received the following advice from Roberts: “Fight. Fight, fight fight. Don’t worry about anything else…You have permission to be selfish. The message here [is] know your body. Don’t be afraid! It’s better to know that not to know.” Inspired, Smith closed her Tweets for the day by writing: “I am strong and positive as I fight this, just like so many of my breast cancer warrior sisters. That’s the word according to TheHollywoodGossip : You probably best remember Moises Arias from the Willow Smith photo controversy a few months back. With the couple appearing as happy and as stable as ever, Will Smith paid tribute to his beautiful wife on Facebook yesterday, giving Jada a special 43rd birthday shout-out via some kind of confusingly awesome photo. “Happy Birthday, My Love. It’s unclear when it was snapped, but it appears to be of Will and Jada playfully parodying a cardboard cut-out of themselves making like a pair of Dancing With the Stars contestants… if that show had been around in the 1980s.
