Stassi Schroeder is persona non grata around the Internet right now. And for a fairly understandable reason. The 29-year old Vanderpump Rules star addressed the victims of Hollywood’s ongoing sexual misconduct scandal on her Straight Up with Stassi podcast this week… … only she didn’t exactly take their side, for some strange and indefensible reason. Instead, she actually titled the latest episode “Are we on a male witch hunt?” and made comments that implied men such as Kevin Spacey and Charlie Rose were the ones getting a raw deal these days. In response to Schroeder’s stance, critics jumped on Twitter and jumped all over the reality star. “so I’m never one to go here but I’m disgusted after listening to @stassi newest episode,” wrote one annoyed individual, adding: “How dare you question these victims, mock #metoo , or even defend men who push boundaries with women.” Added another: “I’m only 15 minutes in and I’m already offended. I’ve never heard such ignorance or general disregard for women. She’s literally saying basically women only are lying for attention and we just are on a man with hunt. And another: “No one can MAKE me suck a dick’ And it’s official I’ve turned the podcast off.” During her podcast, Schroeder took issue with the idea that women were forced to give oral sex in some of these alleged situations. “I’m sorry, no one could make me suck a dick,” she said, adding: “I’m sorry it sounds like he thought you liked it because you were making out with him. And now that it’s a trend and it’s #metoo you’re going to come out and accuse him because you regret it.” Pretty easy to see why so many people are so upset with her, isn’t it? Not just people, though, Advertisers have also come out and distanced themselves from her podcast. Rent the Runway, for example, Tweeted the following: “We’re shocked by @stassi’s comments re the #metoo campaign. It goes against everything RTR stands for as a company and has publicly advocated. “Our 1st ads were slated to run on Mon but effective immediately we’ve terminated our relationship with her podcast.” Another advertiser, Framebridge, shared this sentiment: “In no way do @stassi’s comments about the #metoo campaign reflect our beliefs. We are ending our relationship with the Straight Up with Stassi Podcast effective immediately. “We will always stand by brave women sharing their stories.” How has Stassi responded to this scandal? By using it for PR purposes. She Tweeted in reply to the advertiser boycott and the backlash from listeners: “Just finished recording a follow up episode… stay tuned.” Nope, sorry. Kendra Wilkinson is the outspoken star of We TV’s Kendra on Top . We say outspoken because, well, she has no filter. Whether she’s posting a sultry selfie on social media, or just appearing on her reality TV show, she’s always stirring up some sort of controversy. We’re not even sure she knows she’s doing it, and that’s likely why she’s such a draw with viewers. The 32-year-old was on a road trip with her husband, Hank Bassett, and thought it would be fun to stop by a cotton field in Texas because “she always wanted to pick cotton.” Have a look at the picture in question below. It shows Wilkinson posing with some cotton and a whole field of cotton behind her. People took offense to the post and immediately started slamming the star in the comments section of the snap. “Racist piece of s–t,” one user wrote. Added another: “People are upset because you are joking about history that you are just simply ignorant about. Some things just keep to yourself.” While some chose to go on the offensive, the star’s legion of fans also came to her defense. “Been watching Kendra from day one, she’s a free spirit,” one fan commented. “You are just combing through social media praying for anything to pound on and rip it to shreds… Hello her husband and children are part black.” “Don’t give the haters the benefit of explaining what ur doing like picking cotton,” said another. And which of these fowl players would we trot out as the recipient of the prestigious 11th Annual Spencer Pratt Thanksgiving Turkey Award!? Without further ado, here are our Top 10 Turkeys of 2017 … we’re talking about some serious bird brains who need a pumpkin pie to the face. 10. Nick Viall . The fourth time was not the charm for the Bachelor Nation pass-around, though it was a feather in his cap, or something. 9. O.J. Simpson . After nine years in prison, The Juice is Loose. Hopefully the bird is the only thing that ends up dead at his home Thursday. 8. Usher . We don’t mean to infer things about folks, but when your name becomes synonymous with herpes? Not a good sign typically. 7. Justin Bieber . Still never ceases to amaze that the one-time baby-faced global teen heart throb morphed into the globe’s top douche. 6. Kris Jenner . How many of your kids do you have to force to procreate the sake of your bank account? Four out of six in one year? 5. Scott Disick . Pretty Much Every Male in a Position of Power in Hollywood . It started with Harvey Weinstein, but it didn’t end there. In fact, it still feels like we’re just getting started here. The dominoes keep falling day after day after day. When will it stop? If you really require an explanation, go and read any page of any site of the Internet. If you want more fallout, wait an hour. When the mogul was exposed as a serial sexual harasser and abuser, it opened the floodgates and exposed an epidemic. The #MeToo movement has become exactly that. Tragic as it is that this behavior is so rampant, at least it’s no longer secret, and a long-overdue national debate is being had.
Miley Cyrus really wanted to have a happy birthday on Thursday. But a bunch of curious and misguided Instagram followers wouldn’t allow the singer to celebrate turning 25 on the same day she also celebrated Thanksgiving. The singer shared a seemingly sweet and innocent photo late Monday in anticipation of the dual occasions, posing in front of some giant balloon letters and writing as a caption: “So close to b-day time! Stoked for a day full of Tofurkey & loved ones! Ain’t it ironic? #VeganTurkeyBaby.” You can actually see in the mirror, if you look very closely, that boyfriend Liam Hemsworth is snapping the picture. How romantic, right? Take a look for yourself: Followers very much took various looks for themselves , analyzing Miley’s lean and stomach in such a way that many believed her to be pregnant. “Uhm…..is that a baby bump?” asked one commenter, while another chimed in with a similar sentiment: “Come on! That belly can’t be from the thought of eating turkey for thanksgiving!!! That’s pregnant belly!” It’s sort of a weird pose, we’ll grant these individuals as much. Still, come on now. Do they not understand that it’s pretty obnoxious to publicly presume a woman is pregnant just because you’re taking a peek at her figure? This person thinks so: “We’re allowed to wear baggy tops on a daily basis and we’re more so allowed to have a tummy. “Why does everyone have to assume you’re ‘pregnant’ if you were a baggy top where it looks like you’ve got a tummy. It could just be a food baby.” And Miley also thinks so, considering what she wrote as a follow-up on Tuesday: “RUDE!!! Not pregnant just eating a s— ton of tufurkey,” wrote Cyrus in response to the chatter. Thankfully, Miley didn’t let these quasi trolls ruin her birthday. The artist went ahead and shared an image of herself as a child, sporting a wide, happy grin and writing: “Birthday Mood!” Can you believe she’s 25?!? It seems like just yesterday that we met the star as Hannah Montana. Elsewhere, meanwhile, there’s another rumor that continues to circulate around the singer/actress. Hey, have you heard the good news?! Javi Marroquin and Briana DeJesus are officially dating! And not only that, but they seem to be comfortable enough with each other that they're working on merging their families into one, even though they've only been dating approximately three seconds! See, over the weekend, Javi threw a birthday party for Lincoln, the son he shares with Kailyn Lowry. He invited Briana DeJesus and her two daughters, and what happened next … well, you really just have to see it to believe it. It’s true, they do — even before Briana joined the cast of Teen Mom 2, she and Javi were exchanging flirty tweets. Say what you will about their relationship, but it’s had a long, long buildup. 2. Javi’s Pursuit Though they have known each other for a while, it wasn’t until earlier this fall when Javi really began to go after Briana hard. In September, he even gave an interview to Radar in which he said that he’d “be open to dating Briana” because “she’s a really cool girl. Her whole family is awesome. She’s really beautiful. We text back and forth. We’ll see what happens.” Subtle, Javi. 3. Complicated The thought of the two of them actually getting together seemed a little far-fetched. After all, Javi already married a Teen Mom when he married Kailyn, and Briana just gave birth to another guy’s baby in July. Would forming a Teen Mom super couple really be the right move? 4. YES Apparently so: in October, Javi confirmed that he and Briana were finally officially together! It was still a little weird, because she denied it at first, but it seems she’s cool with being public now. So we’re really doing Javiana, it seems. 5. Spiteful Love As you can imagine, things didn’t go so well after the world found out about Javi and Briana’s love. Many reports claimed that Kailyn believed Javi’s just getting with Briana out of spite, and … yeah, we can see it. During this entire season of Teen Mom 2, Javi’s seemed heartbroken that Kailyn moved on so quickly, so it makes sense that he’d try to get under her skin any way possible. 6. The Thirst is Real A lot of people think Briana isn’t with Javi for love — or not JUST for love, anyway. Some theorize that she’s trying to marry him to get his military benefits, others say that she just wants to settle down with a guy who would actually create a family with her, unlike her first two baby daddies. The long and heretofore illustrious career of Charlie Rose may be over. The veteran journalist has been suspended by PBS and CBS amidst accusations of sexual harassment and misconduct. The accusations have been made by eight different women. In a bombshell report published on Monday by The Washington Post , these alleged victims shared eerily similar stories about how the reporter would act in horribly inappropriate ways toward them. There are accusations that Rose would place sexually explicit phone calls… expose his genitalia… and grope the women without their permission. Three of the women spoke on the record, while five spoke on the condition of anonymity. But all expressed stories that detailed how Rose would either walk out of a shower, naked, in their presence; and/or would grope their buttocks at company parties; and/or place his hand on their upper thigh, awaiting a reaction. Said Reah Bravo, who worked as an intern and then associate producer for Rose’s PBS show beginning in 2007: “It has taken 10 years and a fierce moment of cultural reckoning for me to understand these moments for what they were. “He was a sexual predator, and I was his victim.” The women were employees or aspired to work for Rose at The Charlie Rose Show from the late 1990s to as recently as 2011. They ranged in age from 21 to 37 at the time of the reported encounters. Rose is 75 years old and his one-on-one interview program airs on PBS and Bloomberg TV. He also co-hosts CBS This Morning and is a contributing correspondent for 60 Minutes. “In my 45 years in journalism, I have prided myself on being an advocate for the careers of the women with whom I have worked,” Rose said in a statement to the Washington Post, adding: “Nevertheless, in the past few days, claims have been made about my behavior toward some former female colleagues.” He continued as follows: It is essential that these women know I hear them and that I deeply apologize for my inappropriate behavior. I am greatly embarrassed. I have behaved insensitively at times, and I accept responsibility for that, though I do not believe that all of these allegations are accurate. I always felt that I was pursuing shared feelings, even though I now realize I was mistaken. I have learned a great deal as a result of these events, and I hope others will too. All of us, including me, are coming to a newer and deeper recognition of the pain caused by conduct in the past, and have come to a profound new respect for women and their lives. Shortly after news of Rose’s allegations broke, PBS announced it is stopping production on the anchor’s self-titled program. Meanwhile, CBS News has also suspended him from his regular duties. In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein sex scandals , numerous Hollywood power players have been taken to task for their deplorable behavior toward women, minors, and others who were in positions that left them vulnerable to being taken advantage of. Some were complicit in Weinstein’s behavior, while others engaged in abuse and harassment of their own that was brought to light thanks to the example set by the disgraced mogul’s courageous accusers. Ben Affleck falls into both categories. Along with his childhood friend Matt Damon, Affleck rose to prominence with his performance in Goodwill Hunting , a film he also co-wrote with Damon, earning the young collaborators a pair of Best Original Screenplay Oscars. As with so many other films produced by conglomerate-owned “indie” outlets in the early ’90s, Hunting was ushered into existence by Harvey Weinstein. So like Quentin Tarantino, Kevin Smith, and many others, Affleck and Damon were faced with some difficult questions following the revelations of Weinstein’s rampant abuse. Primarily, the public wanted to know if these men were aware of Weinstein’s behavior and if they took any steps to prevent it. Before he even had a chance to issue a response, however, Affleck was accused of groping an MTV host and harassing a Canadian entertainment journalist. The father of three laid low for a few weeks after that, and it’s been widely rumored that Affleck checked back into rehab recently. Of course, Ben long ago made the leap from indie darling to superhero franchise star, which means that when promotional obligations arise, he doesn’t have the option of keeping a low profile, even when riding out a scandal. As such, Affleck stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night for an interview with a host who’s been outspoken in his disgust with the recent round of appalling reports coming out of Hollywood. “I don’t remember it, but I absolutely apologized for it,” Affleck responded in response to Colbert’s question about allegations that he groped Hilarie Burton back in 2003. “I certainly don’t think she’s lying or making it up,” he added. “It’s just the kind of thing that we have to as men, I think, as we become more aware of this, be really, really mindful of our behavior and hold ourselves accountable and say, ‘If I was ever part of the problem, I want to change. I want to be part of the solution,’ and to not shy away from these uncomfortable or awkward or strange encounters that we might’ve had where we were sort of navigating and not knowing.” It’s a bit odd that Affleck suggested there might be any doubt as to whether or not the incident took place, considering it was caught on camera, but … at least he’s trying? Asked about his ties to Weinstein, Affleck had this to say: “It was awful to see the extent of these terrible crimes and it was hideous. I haven’t worked for Harvey in more than 15 years, but nonetheless, I felt this attachment. “I did movies like Good Will Hunting , Shakespeare in Love and Chasing Amy – early movies that I really loved doing, when I still was totally brand new. “And so it sort of rained that a little bit to realize while we were having these experiences and making these movies, there were people who ere suffering and dealing with awful experiences. I didn’t really know what to do with that, you know? It’s hard to know.” Again, it would have been better if Ben didn’t feel the need to preface his remarks with a lame attempt at self-absolution (“Sure Harvey basically kicked off my career, but we haven’t worked together … since I was in my thirties!”) but at least he’s taking part in this crucial conversation. The fact is, in the weeks and months that follow, more stars and power players–some of whom may be deeply beloved by large segments of the population–will be implicated in acts of sexual misconduct of varying severity. For some, there can be no redemption. Others may find themselves in positions where forgiveness might be possible, but it certainly won’t come easy. Ben’s right when he says men in all industries and of all orientations must be more mindful of his behavior.
