Uum…Okay: Polar Vortex Video Challenges Have People Experimenting In Freezing Weather

Link:

Source: Wojtek Zagorski / Getty The polar vortex has been quite offensive these past couple of days. As of Thursday, it’s already taken over a number of states in the U.S. with the Midwest being hit the hardest. According to ABC 6 , some states in this area are experiencing temperatures in the negative 30s, and if you add wind chills to the mix, states like Illinois have experienced weather that feels like negative 57 degrees . According to The New York Times ,  eight weather-related deaths have already been recorded in the Midwest while the east coast isn’t that much safer with cities like New York experiencing single digit temperatures. But despite all this, folks will still find a way to capture the madness on camera. You can blame it on snowed-in boredom or you can blame it on plain curiosity. But whatever the reasoning, people are playing in the snow in the most bizarre and hilarious ways. First, a few people are putting their dogs on the line to test the weather. Some pet owners have been letting their canines out into the cold just to find out if they’d be thrilled for a walk. For many, the answer was a hard no. Just let Twitter user @IamNPaterson and her dog tell it… My dog when the #polarvortex arrives in #newjersey “No. Absolutely not.” @njdotcom pic.twitter.com/uUFKWu2BzV — Natalie Paterson (@IamNPaterson) January 30, 2019 Then, there were people who put their scientist hat on to discover the shocking effects of freezing temperatures. One Twitter user posted a video of herself soaking a T-shirt then sticking it outside in the cold. The results were a clothing item that could stand on its own after just a little over an hour outside. It’s no joke out here. One of the most viral videos, however, is a challenge that carried over from previous years. People have been boiling water and throwing it into the freezing air, creating a snow-making affect. Peep the slow motion spectacle below.   According to Wired , because the water is so hot, it has enough energy to transition from liquid to gas quickly. When the hot water is projected into the cold air, a few things happen. First, the hot water is making water vapor thanks to evaporation. Second, the water is breaking into smaller blobs of water as it moves through the air. Both the evaporation and smaller blobs cause the water to cool off quickly. In addition to this, the cold air can’t hold a lot of water vapor (which is why the air is much drier in the winter), so the water vapor doesn’t stay in the air, but it condenses out. Viola. Instant snow. People across social media have been trying their luck at the phenomenon whether it be -10 degrees temperatures or -20 degrees  outside. Whatever the case might be, make sure to stay warm and stay safe. The polar vortex will still disrespect you and your entire video.

Roloffs Enter the Guinness Book of World Records, Can Now Trash Talk the Kardashians

Take this, Kardashians. Go ahead and suck on it, Duggars. Not even close, Wilkinson-Basketts! The Roloffs now have bragging rights that no other group of relatives on reality television can match. We mean this both literally and officially. On Monday, Matt Roloff surprised Instagram followers by sharing two very sweet photos on his official social media account, both of which were accompanied by a caption that explained an impressive family achievement. We’ll go ahead and let Matt explain on his loved ones’ behalf: “The Roloff family’s very exciting news to share with you all… We have – along with all of YOU – made history,” he wrote to open this caption, adding in more detail: “We’ve been awarded by the Guinness Book of World Records for the most family-focused reality television shows in the history of television!! “We couldn’t have done it without all of you. “If you have been a fan for a while, help us share the exciting news by sharing this photo on social media and mentioning how long you have been watching #LPBW. “We appreciate you guys! @mattroloff @rolofffarms #littlepeoplebigworld #theroloffs #therolofffamily #worldrecord.” Wow, huh? We had no idea this even was a record one could achieve. But Little People, Big World has been on the air since 2005. As you can maybe see in the photo above, the series hit the 298-episode mark in January, which was apparently the figure needed to propel the Roloffs to the top. For comparison’s sake: Keeping Up with the Kardashians has aired 214 episodes, while 19 and Counting may have threatened this figure if TLC had not canceled the series in the wake of that Josh Duggar molestation scandal. At the time of its axing, that family-based program had aired 227 installments. This news comes at an interesting time for the show and for the family as a whole. There’s been chatter among fans regarding the series’ future, based on Matt’s bombshell news that he’s moving to Arizona . It’s unclear at the moment if this will have any impact on TLC renewing Little People, Big World for a new season. The past few episodes of the show have also focused more than ever on tension between Matt and Amy, both of whom seem sick of working so closely together and definitely sick of living so close to each other. This tension has been heightened of late because both Matt and Amy are involved in serious romantic relationships. What might happen to the series if Matt marries Caryn Chandler and/or Amy marries Chris Marek? Again, we don’t know. But as you can see by the comparisons we made above, Little People, Big World is not in any danger of losing this record any time soon. Its flown past the 300-episode milestone at this point and, even if it ends after this season, no other family-oriented reality show appears to be close. So… congratulations to the Roloffs. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching your adventures over the years and we hope there are many more to come in the years ahead. View Slideshow: Little People, Big World: Why It May Be Ending … Soon!

Dennis Rodman Cries Over Trump-Kim Summit, Confirms We’re Living In Most Bonkers Timeline

When you hear the names Donald Trump and Kim Jong-Un, your first thought probably has to do with stocking up on canned goods or making peace with your god. Your second thought might be something along the lines of, Damn, those dudes are both rocking some almost impossibly sh- tty  hairstyles. So perhaps it should come as no surprise that Dennis Rodman — he who brought the aesthetic of a Hot Topic clerk to the National Basketball Association — should also be involved in the summit taking place in Singapore this week. Is the Worm still rocking hair colors that make him look like he was recently fired as the bass player Chumbawumba? Tough to say, as Dennis is rarely seen without his MAGA hat these days. As you've likely heard, Rodman has traveled to North Korea several times, and he's long been an outspoken supporter of Trump. So with the help of his sponsor — a virtual currency for cannabis entrepreneurs called PotCoin —  Rodman traveled to Singapore to … … Well, we're not exactly sure why he was there, but while discussing his previous forays into foreign policy on CNN, the 57-year-old broke down in tears. “When I went back home, I got so many death threats,” 57-year-old Rodman cried. “When I came home, I couldn’t even go home. I had to hide out for 30 days. But I kept my head up high, brother. I knew things were going to change. “I believe in North Korea,” Rodman then blurted, in case anyone was unconvinced that whoever runs the simulation we call life is currently on a bender. Depending on your political affiliation, you're probably saying to yourself either: “Jeez, the guy feels safer in North Korea than he does at home among the sicko libs!” Or: “Yeah, dude, generally aren't big on sanctioning murderous regimes by partying with psychotic dictators. Somehow, both sides are both right and wrong. Don't ask us to explain that; this situation has caused our brains to leak out of our ears.

Alaskan Bush People Season 8 to Focus on Ami’s Cancer

We have some good news for Alaskan Bush People fans… … and also some really terrible news for Alaskan Bush People fans. Unfortunately, the importance of the latter far outweighs the importance of the former. But we’ll start with a programming update: The long-awaited eighth season of this Discovery Channel hit will premiere on August 24 at 9/8c. Set your DVR and plan your upcoming vacations accordingly. The really terrible news, however, has to do with just what these new episodes will focus on. According to Radar Online, Ami Brown’s cancer has returned — and this tragic circumstance will serve as the crux of what fans will see on screen later this summer and later this fall. “Ami went to UCLA with Billy and son Bear, and her cancer is back,” an insider has told the aforementioned celebrity gossip site. Darn it. This sucks. We reported in late May that Ami checked back into a California hospital in order to have further tests run. At the time, however, we were still awaiting the results of these tests and had not heard any confirmation about the return of Ami’s illness. The mother of seven was diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer last year. Her prognosis at the time was grim, but undergoing numerous rounds of radiation and chemotherapy, the reality star announced she was cancer-free in December 2017. For some awful reason, fans had taken this remission to mean that Ami never had cancer, an assertion that Discovery Channel Executive Vice President Laurie Goldberg had to actually address a few weeks back. “Ami’s battle with cancer is very real,” Goldberg said at the time , adding: “It is just disgusting that anyone would say her cancer is not real or that it was created for the show.” Seriously. Not even the Kardashians would conjure up a cancer storyline for the sake of ratings. This latest Radar report makes us feel sad, but also asks that fans remain optimistic. That’s the approach Ami and her loved ones are trying to take. “She is still dealing with some residual effects of her diagnosis and treatment, but she is continuing to recover well,” the insider says . “She has the love and support of her entire family, and is determined to beat this.” This same source concludes that the new season of Alaskan Bush People will tell a significant chunk of Ami’s story. Not for the sake of ratings. But simply because this show chronicles the lives of the Browns and this diagnosis is obviously the most important thing going on in those lives right now. “It’s going to be a huge part of the upcoming season, and there will be interviews with her doctors and other medical professionals who have helped her along the way,” the source says. Alaskan Bush People is currently filming for the new season in Washington state, far from the family’s native Alaska. Expect plenty of changes to be afoot, except for one key one: the entire family will be involved. View Slideshow: Alaskan Bush People: 13 Secrets They Don’t Want You to Know

Tonya Harding, Adam Rippon Join Dancing With The Stars’ All-Athlete Season!

Watch out for your kneecaps! (Kidding!)  Tonya Harding will be on the new season of Dancing With The Stars . Olympic snowboarder Jamie Anderson and Olympic figureskater and media darling Adam Rippon will also be joining the cast. The finale of Dancing With The Stars was last November, and it’s about time that the world learns who’ll be starring on this next season. Well, Us Weekly reports that Tonya Harding will be one of the “stars” who will be dancing. Harding was infamous in the ’90s after her ex-husband … who was also her bodyguard … orchestrated a “hit” on Nancy Kerrigan, designed to injure Harding’s rival so that she could not compete. Harding did not order it herself, and complains that she has been unfairly condemned for it. But she did admit to knowing about the attack before it happened . It’s worth noting that Kerrigan has competed on Dancing With The Stars before, during season 24. This will be the dance competition’s first-ever all-athletes season, so this controversial Olympian won’t be alone. Olympian Adam Rippon made headlines earlier this year over his back-and-forth conflict with Vice President Mike Pence . Rippon is openly gay, Pence is notorious for holding extremely anti-gay views. Donald Trump himself has reportedly joked that Pence would prefer to see gay Americans be executed by hanging. And Pence’s history of espousing extremely conservative views and carrying those beliefs into government speaks for itself. Rippon, however, turns out to be a media darling, adored by American fans for his unbridled honesty and his sense of humor. He’ll make a great addition to this upcoming season. As one of the best figureskaters on the planet, he’ll also be one hell of a dancer. Jamie Anderson will also be on Dancing With The Stars . She is an extraordinarily talented snowboarder. Anderson is one of the top slopestyle riders in the world, and demonstrated this at the Sochii Winter Olympics in 2014 and in the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in 2018. With four gold medals, five silver medals, and two bronze medals, she’s proven that she’s devastating in the snow. But how will that translate to dance? We’ll just have to wait and see. Tonya Harding reentered the spotlight recently with the Oscar-nominated film, I, Tonya . It appears that she hopes that this film can be part of her redemption in the eyes of the public. “The media had me convicted of doing something wrong before I had even done anything at all,” she lamented last December. “I’m always the bad person.” Honestly, she hasn’t always done herself that many favors, as she has sometimes taken odd stances in interviews over the years. It will be interesting to see how well she takes the inevitable jokes at her expense when she appears on Dancing With The Stars . To be clear, ABC has yet to officially confirm that Harding, Rippon, and Anderson will be on this season. They’ll announce the full list of “stars” on Friday, April 13th, on Good Morning America . Considering how interesting these three names are, we have to wonder who else will be among their competition. And, for that matter, who their dance partners will be. Rest In Peace: Toys ‘R’ Us Founder Dead One Week After Company Goes Under

Source: Cheryl Chenet / Getty Toys “R” Us founder Charles Lazarus has passed away at the age 94 years old, just one week after the company announced it plans to shut down all U.S. operations. It’s quite possible Lazarus died of a broken heart. As Just Jared reports, he started the company back in 1948 when he was just 25 years old “in anticipation of the baby boom” and remained CEO until 1994—only to see it closing down in 2018, of course. The company said in a statement, ““There have been many sad moments for Toys ‘R’ Us in recent weeks, and none more heartbreaking than today’s news about the passing of our beloved founder. He visited us in New Jersey just last year, and we will forever be grateful for his positive energy, passion for the customer and love for children everywhere.” May Charles rest in peace.

Awkward Bikini in the Snow Dance of the Day

It’s cold as fuck where I am and I don’t have the resources thanks to not investing all the money I never had into start-ups in 2008 like I was Ashton Kutcher, you know to get a piece of everyone’s pie, making me a billionaire.. Instead I focused on bullshit dog shit money, probably the worst money a site with the traffic I used to get could get, because I just cared about drinking… So that now I can’t afford a nice insulated house with state of the art, or really any heating system.. Instead, I’m in a cold as fuck, damp as fuck, basement with a spaceheater than may kill us in our sleep.. What better way to celebrate winter, and the bullshit that is winter, than see some woman we don’t know awkwardly dance in a bikini for social media.. If you don’t like that’ – here’s a bikini snow angel… The post Awkward Bikini in the Snow Dance of the Day appeared first on DrunkenStepFather.com .

Kendra Caldwell SLAMMED for Endangering Her Unborn Child?!

Life is tough for a Duggar woman. Like, real tough. You get married as young as possible most of the time, and from then on out you’re pretty much just a baby factory. Yep, if your last name is Duggar and you have a uterus, you best believe that uterus is going to do some hard time . Oh, and definitely be prepared to be judged for each and every choice, valid or terrible, you make while parenting your gaggle of kids. One of your “duties” is to make yourself available to your husband at all times — meaning if he wants sex, well, then you better get to sexin’. If you like fashion and beauty, you don’t have too many options, because you have to dress modestly and haircuts should be few and far between. (Apparently perms are OK though? Whatever, Michelle.) The Duggars believe so strongly in their fashion choices that it’s been actual news when one of the girls has worn pants . For real. Now that we’ve gone over all that, let’s take a gander at this new photo of Joseph Duggar’s wife, Kendra Caldwell, with Amy Duggar: With the rules of Duggar ladies fresh in your mind, there’s a good chance you see a few issues with the picture already, right? If you don’t though, don’t worry — Amy posted this photo on Instagram, and you know her followers were ready and willing to tear this apart. First, let’s take a look at Kendra’s attire here. Because yes, she is wearing a skirt while tubing! “Is that a skirt in the snow?!” one concerned citizen asked. Another said “It’s weird to me to be sledding in a skirt — it’s actually hilarious to me.” For the Duggars though, the skirt does make sense. Kendra’s wearing pants underneath the skirt, but the skirt’s purpose is to hide any of her figure that might have shown through the pants. Modesty, get it? The bigger issue here for most people is that Kendra and Joseph just announced that they’re expecting their first child , so for Kendra to do a physical activity while pregnant, that’s not OK. One person called this “not something you should do while pregnant,” and another said “Kendra um aren’t you pregnant not very wise.” “I’m not her doctor but I do care about a precious unborn baby’s safety,” someone else wrote. “I don’t think people should intentionally do things that could cause harm to their unborn baby.” “I would just not risk getting a injury to myself or my baby if it wasn’t a must,” yet another cautious commenter said. “I’m sure there is safer activities she can do while she’s pregnant that are fun and less risky.” “She can flip on the tube or hit a bump or tree. I just don’t think it’s the best idea.” View Slideshow: Joseph Duggar & Kendra Caldwell Wedding: First Kiss (and More) Revealed! The thing is, and many of Amy’s followers pointed this out, Kendra is barely three months pregnant, if that. Doing some tubing down a hill like this isn’t going to hurt anything. What do you think: should Kendra take her skirt and her fetus inside, or is she fine?
