Unlike most people who marry into the British Royal Family, Meghan Markle was famous long before she said “I do.” But basic cable legal drama fame isn’t quite the same as marrying one of the most sought-after the men on the planet and becoming a freakin’ duchess overnight. So we suppose it should come as no surprise that Meg experienced some growing pains while transitioning from Rachel Zane to the Duchess of Sussex. As you may have heard, Meghan’s rekindled friendship with Kate Middleton is the subject of a People magazine cover story this week. The issue actually features several stories about the formerly dueling duchesses, including one about how Meghan has struggled in adjusting to this new, much brighter spotlight. “Meghan has struggled with the intensity of the spotlight,” a source close to the royal family tells People . “Although she is a former actress, this is on a different level.” Apparently, Meghan has mostly grown accustomed to her role at this point, but she still finds it challenging to live her life under such intense scrutiny. “It is an isolated existence,” the insider claims. No word on whether or not the rumors that Harry is encouraging Meghan to enter therapy are related to all this pressure. But frankly, we would hope anyone who has this much on her plate is receiving some sort of professional counseling! Interestingly, it seems Meghan’s feelings of isolation may have helped her bond with Kate. The Duchess of Cambridge has admitted to feeling “lonely at times” as a mother living life in the public eye. “Tou do feel quite isolated. But so many other mothers are going through exactly what you are going through.” “Babies are a great leveler,” says royal commentator Victoria Arbiter. “The minute you’re bonding over your stories and sleepless nights, suddenly all the stuff that mattered before doesn’t matter anymore.” We’re sure in the very near future, we’ll see another round of rumors claiming that Meghan and Kate are feuding or that Meg is cracking under the pressure of life as a royal. But for now, these reports of Meg and Kate helping one another settle into their changing roles is a welcome change of pace. “Sex sells” is one of those ad industry cliches that’s so well-worn that you could probably get laughed out of a Madison Avenue boardroom for uttering the phrase. But that doesn’t make it any less true. And no one understands the marketing power of flesh quite like the members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan. For the most part, the sisters use nudity to promote nothing other than themselves. After all, nothing is more lucrative to Kim, Kylie, and company then their personal brands. And that’s what makes Kendall’s latest thirst trap such a departure. She’s not just doing it for the clout this time. She’s doing it to line her pockets as part of a sweet endorsement deal. “When my acne was at its worst, I was a high schooler who didn’t want to leave the house,” Kendall captioned the pics. “Now I’m content with my skin. If you want to try Proactiv, you won’t regret it.” She then advised you to check out the link in her bio, which of course, steers you to Proactiv’s site. Why would you have to get naked to talk about a condition that primarily afflicts your face? To show that you’re comfortable in your skin, of course! Yeah, it’s a bit of a reach, but at least they made some attempt to justify the nudity — albeit a pretty lame one. Of course, that just highlights the corniness of this entire ad campaign. The Kar-Jenner crew gets naked all the time, and it needs no lame corporate justification, as the only thing they’re selling is themselves. The only purpose served by the nudity is to keep the tens of millions of followers in place so that they can attract a metric f–kton of attention when they do post unrelated sponsored content. Using the nudity as a direct sales tool is too obvious a grift. We can’t imagine momager Kris would approve. Then again, based on the level of celebrity pitch-people they’ve attracted in the past, we’re guessing Proactiv offers up some insane paydays. Kendall has talked about her acne in the past, so she does have sufficient cred to talk about this stuff knowledgeably. But we can’t help think the Proactiv people are asking too much of her. On one occasion, Kendall teased “a big announcement” and kept fans in suspense for 24 hours. The announcement? You guessed it — a new line of Proactiv products. Endorsement deals are great and all, but not if your corporate overlords are forcing you to alienate your social media following. Besides, Kendall doesn’t have the greatest history with ads . Maybe she should just stick to modeling or come out with a fashion line or something. After all, you don’t become the world’s youngest self-made billionaire by selling out to make other people rich. Last month, Anfisa Nava conquered at ther very first bodybuilding competition . She’s always looked good in a bikini, but she went through a radical body transformation to qualify and to win. Now, Anfisa is clapping back at body-shamers who tell her that she’s too muscular. People have tried to say all sorts of things about Anfisa’s new figure, as if it were their business. Clearly, she has been aware of these critics all along. “They say ‘Muscles make you look manly’…” Anfisa’s caption begins. She continues: “I personally have never felt more feminine and happy than I do now.” Hey, good for her! “It’s all about how you feel on the inside,” Anfisa correctly affirms. “And not what you look like on the outside.” That’s true with self-confidence, gender expression, and so much more. “All shapes and sizes can be beautiful,” she accurately states. Anfisa notes that this beauty is possible “as long as you live in harmony with yourself.” That’s a really encouraging message — especially from someone whose recent body transformation was so dramatic. Right on the heels of her victory, it would be easy for Anfisa to ignore hateful comments. Instead, she’s reminding everyone that what is or is not “girly” is incredbily subjective. Anfisa herself is clearly over the moon about her recent awards. “To be honest I still can’t believe I won every class I competed in last weekend,” Anfisa gushed. “Only when I look at the photos and my trophies,” she admitted. “I realize that it actually happened!” Anfisa’s bodybuilding was a means to an end — and also something to pass the time while Jorge remains in prison. But some people didn’t like the look on her body. They felt that she looked too lean, or too muscular, or both. Those same people decided to be very vocal about their opinions on social media. Having a strong opinion one way or the other on someone’s appearance is mostly normal. Trying to make that opinion Anfisa’s problem by tell her about it is not okay. It’s not like she’s gonna f–k you either way. Anfisa’s diet comes down to what she eats and how much of it. She has explained that she trimmed down by making food herself instead of going out to eat. Anfisa then coupled that with ecercise to build muscle. The final and most difficult step was a non-sustainable starvation diet undertaken in the days before the competition. That was the diet that made her muscles especially visible. Now that the competition is over, Anfisa is on a “reverse-diet” to try to restore some of her body’s energy reserves. It wasn’t so many months ago — last December, really — that this was just an idea in Anfisa’s mind. She worked hard and made it happen. It looks like she could have a real future in this bodybuilding “hobby” that she chose for herself. Of course, in only about 13 months, her husband Jorge may be released from prison. (That is expected, but he may have to wait a few months longer than that) Anfisa may want to keep up with her career after he comes home, or she may not. Either way, more power to her. It’s only mid-July, but all over the country, school districts are shortening breaks in favor of longer school years. And so, in some areas of the South (Where their summer breaks tend to start and end earlier.), it’s already back-to-school season. Most kids are probably pretty bummed about starting school in mid-July — but we’re guessing Kaiser Griffith and Maryssa Eason are pretty okay with it. Yes, it’s hard to believe he’s growing up so fast, but little Kaiser began kindergarten this week. Jenelle posted photos of Kai’s first day of kindergarten and Maryssa’s first day of 7th grade on her Instagram page this week. “#FirstDayOfSchool,” she captioned the pics. “These kiddos are getting so big, so fast!” Jenelle continued, adding the hashtags, “#BittersweetMoments #Motivated and #SchoolDays.” Some fans were taken aback that Jenelle’s kids start school so early in the summer. Others, of course, are still in shock that she was able to regain custody of Kaiser and Maryssa . Yes, as we’re sure you know, Evans lost custody of three of her kids following a CPS investigation back in May. The shocking decision to dismiss the case did not go over well on social media — which is no great surprise, what with the kids being returned to a home with a psychopath who’s known to shoot and kill beloved pets during his infamous temper tantrums. Jenelle’s comments section is a curated space these days, with the disgraced former reality star devoting a lot of time to deleting negative comments. But clearly, she didn’t catch them all — or consider the fact that folks on other social media platforms can still discuss her pics with impunity. “Ummm I thought you coparented with everyone fine? Where is his Father & WTF kind of school/parents would let this guy around their kids?” asked Twitter user @anon_mafioso, remarking on Nathan Griffith’s absence from the photos “You should be thankful you even get to see those kids,” Instagrammer shesworthwords commented. That one pretty much sums up the general feeling toward Jenelle getting her children back. She made it clear from the start that she considers herself the victim of an appalling injustice and feels that her kids were taken from her as the result of a smear campaign coordinated by the media and her family. This, obviously, is batsh-t thinking, but it’s what we’ve come to expect from Jenelle. We just hope that she occasionally takes some time out from her self-pity to consider the fact that is indeed quite lucky to have her kids returned to her — and she should do everything in her power to provide a safe and stable environment for them, so that they need not be uprooted again.
