Can a Hit Song Algorithm Really Pick Hits?

A new Web service based on an algorithm helps determine chart-topping hits that has shown to pick winners eight out of 10 times. The technology mathematically analyzes the underlying patterns in a track, including harmony, chord progression and lyrics.The computer then compares the song’s mathematical characteristics against other past hits.
