By Jayson Rodriguez Trey Songz in the video for “Bottoms Up” Photo: Atlantic Records Trey Songz premiered the first video from his forthcoming album Pleasure, Pain & Pleasure on BET’s 106 & Park Tuesday night, the up-tempo “Bottoms Up,” featuring Nicki Minaj . The clip was directed by Anthony Mandler (Jay-Z, Rihanna, Drake) and shows the singer in a funhouse type of environment. Clad in all black, from his suit to his dark sunglasses, Trey Songz is surrounded by women dancing seductively behind glass walls. Themes of bondage and voyeurism are teased throughout the clip as the singer makes his way around the space, while quick edits and lighting changes create a frenetic vibe. Songz described the video as a tool that “heightens” the energy of the track. ” ‘Bottoms Up,’ I feel, is a very creative video,” he told MTV News earlier this month from the set. “[It’s] different from me or what’s expected from me and anything I’ve shot for that matter. Anthony used a lot of different shooting techniques. I think it heightens whatever it is that the song has already — the drive, the vigor, the club anthem, the energy in the record is definitely heightened in the video.” Nicki Minaj guests both on the song and in the clip, and Songz said the femcee did an “excellent job” contributing to “Bottoms Up.” Minaj spits, “Yelling, all around the world, do you hear me/ Do you like my body, Anna Nicki?/ Rest in peace to Anna Nicole Smith.” Minaj sports a blond wig and snug black bustier in the video. “She definitely comes in and spazzes,” the singer said. “She brings a different energy to the record. Michael Douglas To Undergo Treatment For Throat Tumor

By Kara Warner Michael Douglas Photo: MTV News Michael Douglas is set to begin chemotherapy after doctors recently discovered a tumor in his throat. People magazine reports that the “Wall Street” actor’s doctors expect Douglas to make a full recovery as soon as he completes eight weeks of treatment, which will reportedly include a combination of radiation and chemotherapy. “I am very optimistic,” Douglas said in a statement to the magazine. No word yet on how the treatment will affect his work schedule, as Douglas has a lot on his plate, including promotion for his return to the character Gordon Gekko in “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,” which opens at the end of September. Douglas is also set to appear alongside a slew of stars in Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming action thriller “Knockout.” The cast includes Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender, Michael Angarano, Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas and Bill Paxton. When MTV News last caught up with the 65-year-old actor, he appeared happy and healthy at the Film Society of Lincoln Center Honors, where he received the year’s top honor, presented to Hollywood legends. At the time, Douglas was hard-pressed to pick his favorite role from his four-decade-long career in the business. “You work as hard on your failures as on your successes,” he said. “I’d say tonight, particularly because [director] Curtis [Hanson] is here, I liked ‘Wonder Boys’ a lot. ‘Solitary Man’ is right up there. Rihanna Fans Are Sure ‘Love The Way You Lie’ Is About Chris Brown

Given the very public abusive relationships Rihanna and Em have gone through, many fans believe the artists drew from personal experience for the collaboration. Concertgoers waiting for the singer’s Last Girl on Earth Tour stop in New York City on Thursday (August 12) told MTV News that the “Umbrella” singer’s tumultuous past with ex-beau Chris Brown informed her performance in “Lie.” “I would say it’s like the Chris Brown situation, just because … they go from hating each other then loving each other then back to hating each other and all this stuff,” Stephanie Gutez observed about the “Lie” video, which features Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan as a feuding couple. “That’s how Rihanna and Chris Brown pretty much are.” Video director Joseph Kahn has insisted that while relationship abuse is an issue that Em and Rihanna have dealt with, the video isn’t about either star’s past. Although Rihanna doesn’t mention any of her ex-loves by name in the song, Nicole Hollins is convinced the singer has Brown in mind. “She’s just talking about … hurt, but she loves the way he’s hurting her. In that relationship … she was abused by him,” Hollins said. “So it’s little hints in the song that [sound] like it’s referring to Chris Brown. I think it is. I don’t care what anyone says.” Cassidy Santos said the video has a cautionary message, warning people about what happens when love goes too far. “I thought it was interesting how [Rihanna] and Eminem compared the way their lives were,” Santos said. “Since what happened with Chris Brown, it showed that people shouldn’t do that to women.” Rebecca Snoddy said “Lie” keeps it real about the difficulties that any couple, famous or otherwise, must contend with. “I think it depicted [the relationship] in a way that’s honest and truthful like any other relationship would be,” Snoddy said. What’s It Like To Sing With Green Day At Lollapalooza? Dan Michie Knows

By James Montgomery Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong performs at Lollapalooza Photo: Rich Sancho/ MTV News It’s been a fixture at recent Green Day shows for the band to pick a hyperventilating fan out of the crowd and have them sing “Longview,” but rarely — if ever — do they perform the song as mightily as 17-year-old Dan Michie, who wowed fans with his rendition (and boundless enthusiasm) during the band’s Saturday night set at Lollapalooza . In fact, Michie ruled the stage to such an extent that MTV News tracked him down and asked him all about his moment in the spotlight. And, not surprisingly, he doesn’t remember a whole lot of it. “To be honest, the entire time, I wasn’t even thinking. It just happened,” he laughed. “When Billie [Joe Armstrong] picked me, everyone was screaming so loudly that I didn’t know what he was saying. I knew he was pointing to someone around me, and before I knew it, security was yanking me over the barrier. One guard carried me like a baby and pushed me towards the stage, and then, since it was the first time I’d used my legs in like eight hours, I almost tripped and fell on my face.” Luckily, he didn’t. He slowly got to the stage and saw Armstrong (and tens of thousands of fans) staring directly at him. And then, things went completely blank. “There are no words to describe it. If you’ve ever seen 80,000 people before, that’s one thing, but seeing them look back at you, that’s something that doesn’t even seem real,” Michie said. “And then, when I was walking towards [Armstrong] to give him a hug, I was just thinking, ‘Oh my God.’ You see him in pictures every day, but it’s a completely different thing to see him in real life.” And then, after giving Armstrong a quick kiss — “It was kind of wet,” Michie joked — Green Day kicked into the song, and Michie just sort of took off. He rocketed back and forth across the stage, belting out the lyrics perfectly, while the crowd cheered and the band tried very hard not to crack up. And, as is par for the course, he doesn’t really remember much of this either. “It just happened. I didn’t have to think of the words; they just came out,” he said. “And I had seen videos of other fans singing [the song], and they just stood there, so I knew I wanted to run around and go crazy. But I don’t really remember doing it.” After his performance — and subsequent ovation — Armstrong gave Michie a guitar, which was certainly amazing but sort of presented him with a whole new challenge: How the heck was he going to get home? He had originally planned on taking the train, but Green Day’s tour manager wouldn’t allow it, so, for a moment, he appeared to be stuck in Grant Park. Thankfully, the band arranged for a driver to take Michie back to his house in the suburbs of Chicago, where he — and the guitar — now safely rest. And though he plays in a band (they’re called Patmos ), he has no plans of ever using the guitar onstage. “It’s going in a frame,” he said. In the days since his performance, Michie has become a bit of a star. Footage from Lollapalooza has made the rounds on YouTube , and complete strangers are leaving him congratulatory messages on his Facebook page. For a kid who’s a Green Day obsessive, it’s pretty much the greatest thing that ever could’ve happened. And it’s made even sweeter by the fact that he had come so close to joining the band before, only to have his hopes dashed at the last second. “When I saw Green Day at the United Center last summer, Billie was looking for people to pull up and play ‘Jesus of Suburbia’ on guitar,” he said. “I had a sign, and after he had pulled up a kid and kicked him off right away, he talked to me for a solid 13 seconds about playing the song. He then proceeded to pick a kid who was about three people away from me. I know what it’s like to be disappointed like that, but believe me, if you try really hard and be nice to people, your dreams will come true.” What would you do if your favorite band pulled you up onstage? Cam’ron Says Reunited Diplomats Have ‘Eight, Nine Songs Done’

By Shaheem Reid Cam’ron of The Diplomats Photo: MTV News While Cam’ron says the Diplomats haven’t yet found a label home for their reunion album, they’re still working together and have almost 10 new songs in the can. “It’s a few people that’s been getting at us, but the money’s not really where we want it to be,” Killa Cam told MTV News about label negotiations. “So we’d rather distribute it ourselves until somebody comes with the right amount of money. Jim is using the ‘Salute’ record as his single, so we’ll build off of that. But basically, with the Diplomat thing, everybody is gonna do it, but we got obligations.” Cam’ron was also quick to point out that everyone is on speaking terms, but they all have records they’re working on outside of the Dipset project as well. “Jim got his album he definitely gotta turn in,” he said. “[Me and Vado] got this Gunz and Butta thing. Juelz is putting his album together. Nobody wants to stop where they already have contracts and obligations, but we working too. We got eight, nine songs done.” Cam, Juelz, Freekey Zekey and Jim Jones recently released the song “Salute.” Cam said Jones spearheaded their first song together in years. “Jim’s got a good work ethic too. His work ethic is crazy,” Cam explained. “He’s in the studio all the time. I’m in the studio. The producer AraabMuzik is signed to DukeDaGod. Araab went and took Jim some beats. I already had the beat [for ‘Salute’]. Jim said, ‘Let’s do something to this.’ We got it done. “It wasn’t no big story behind it,” Cam added. “He sent me the record, I did it. He went to Juelz’s studio, I knocked it out. Jim comes by my crib where the studio at. We sit down for two, three hours, and we go in the basement and knock the songs out. I’m not gonna sit here and act like some spaceship landed or a boat docked. Jim comes by the house, we go in the basement, we smoke, do the song, that’s it. We go back in another two, three days and do the same thing.” While there’s no concrete date for the Diplomats album, Killa says his and Vado’s LP Gunz and Butta should be out around September 28, with a mixtape from the two dropping first. On the album’s cover, you see Cam and Vado dressed in suits, standing in a boardroom with the New York skyline behind them. “At the end of the day, we just hanging on the block, so you see we dressed like whatever,” Cam said of the Gunz and Butta cover. “When it’s time to get corporate, we’ll throw on that suit and tie and go to the penthouse, have a roundtable meeting. We know how to balance the beam. We know how to get street, but we know how to get cleaned up also. The pop star says that the third single from his My World 2.0 will be the breezy “U Smile,” a song that was originally slated for release earlier this year. “It’s OFFICIAL- “U SMILE” is gonna be the New Single!! The song is dedicated to the fans so this one is for all of u!! Radio here we come!!” Bieber tweeted on Friday afternoon (August 6). “U Smile,” which has a retro Motown vibe, features the singer expressing his devotion to his sweetheart. ” ‘Cause my cards are on the table/ And I’m willing and I’m able/ But I fold to your wish/ Cause it’s my command,” he croons during the song’s bridge. The mid-tempo number was originally suppose to be released back in March but for some reason was held back by the release of the dance cut “Somebody to Love.” Bieber had already started promotion for the song, even treating national television audiences to live performances of the track on “American Idol” and “Saturday Night Live.” But if history repeats itself, there’s a strong possibility that “U Smile” will earn the 16-year-old yet another hit. When the song was first digitally released on iTunes this past spring, it moved quickly up the chart. The singer took to Twitter at the time to thank fans for the speedy accomplishment: “wrote this song for u guys, and now u are all helping it climb the TOP TEN of ITUNES… U SMILE is #10 already! thank u so much. Lets go #1!” he tweeted . The Biebster spoke to MTV News in March about working on the track alongside songwriters Jerry Duplessis, Arden Altino and Dan August Rig. “I worked with August. I got him. He’s a really good writer,” the singer said of his collaborator. “The song is amazing. We really love the song, so we decided to cut it. It’s really amazing.” What do you think Bieber fans? It was probably just the passionate yelps of students at Seminole High School, who were granted a surprise show from none other than singer and inducer of mass tween mania, Justin Bieber. The Biebs dropped by Seminole High to present the school with a $5,000 donation from the Grammy Foundation and Best Buy to support music education. The singer strummed the guitar, pounded the drums and chatted with students, who were attending a summer band camp, according to reports . “The students had no idea I was coming, and it was fun to completely surprise them,” Bieber said in a statement . “I was excited about this opportunity to team up with Best Buy and the Grammy Foundation to raise awareness around the important cause of funding music education programs in schools. I talked to students about pursuing their passion in music and encouraging them to keep doing what they’re doing.” Bieber also shared the experience with his more than 4 million Twitter followers, revealing that he battled illness to make the surprise appearance. “I actually got sick in the middle of the show and they wanted to cancel but the show must go on and the fans gave me my second [wind],” Bieber tweeted . The singer added that the energy from his Beliebers, especially the female ones, helped get him through the performance. “Been sick all day…but we are toughing through it.
