Not Beliebers: Katy Perry gets booed when she suggests covering a Justin Bieber track at London show

Katy Perry found out the hard way that not everyone shares her love for Justin Bieber when she told fans she was thinking of singing one of his songs at her gig at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on Friday The I Kissed A Girl star, 26, mused out loud that she fancied tackling one of the 17-year-old’s tunes – perhaps Baby? – during the sell-out date, but got booed and catcalled for bothering. The singer was apparently left shocked by the hostile response, and chided the audience: ‘Justin is mine and (husband) Russell’s adopted son. We love him dearly. Don’t boo him, guys. Come on.’ Katy and Justin have become good friends with Katy puckering up to congratulate him at winning four gongs at the American Music Awards last November. According to The Sun, the teen star reckons his deprived upbringing makes him an ideal candidate to play Charles Dickens’s classic character .  Good friends: Justin and Katy at last November’s American Music Awards in Los Angeles Speaking about growing up in a council flat in Canada, he confessed: ‘That place was really dirty. We had mousetraps everywhere because there were mouses – uh, mice – in the house.’ ‘I didn’t have a real bed. I slept on a blue pull-out couch in my room. We didn’t have anything in the fridge, except maybe luncheon meat for school and macaroni and cheese. I’d love to play Oliver Twist.’ In other Bieber news, his 3D concert movie Never Say Never has become the most successful ever live film, overtaking the takings of the late Michael Jackson’s This Is It.   In the U.S. alone, the film has already made $72.2 million since it’s release last month, compared to Jacko’s This Is It which grossed $72.1 million in 2009. The star was in Germany at the weekend and larked about trying on a blonde wig during filming of TV show Wetten Dass…? at a fairground in Augsburg. Nate Dogg’s Death Was ‘A Crushing Blow,’ Warren G Says

‘I’m hurting,’ Warren tells MTV News after raucous SXSW tribute to late friend. By James Montgomery Kurupt and Warren G Photo: MTV News On Saturday night at South by Southwest, Warren G , Daz, Kurupt and Snoop Dogg paid homage to their late friend Nate Dogg with a raucous tribute show that celebrated the music of a man who lived every day to the fullest. And while the mood onstage was definitely joyous — the quartet performed many of the songs Nate leant his voice to, in a poignant tribute to his talents — backstage at Austin’s Venue 222, things were much more muted. In fact, when Warren G spoke to MTV News about his late cohort, he didn’t hide the fact that he (and everyone who ever knew Nate Dogg) was still hurting inside. In fact, starting with the moment he heard the news of Nate’s passing, things have been far from normal. “I was out on the Sweat Tour with Snoop, and we had got the word from his family on what was going on, and it was just a crushing blow for us,” Warren said. “Just, from going to see him and lifting his spirits up when he was in therapy, and stuff like that, it’s just crazy for that to happen. And I still don’t believe it, you know what I’m saying? “It kind of hurts me when I look at this shirt [the organizers of the SXSW tribute show sold Nate Dogg T-shirts, with proceeds going to the late singer’s family], it’s like, ‘Damn, that’s my homeboy on this shirt,’ ” he continued. “And I’m hurting, and you know, a lot of people are showing tons of support for his family, for his homeboys, and we really and truly appreciate that. It’s real love.” And though they took the stage that night with a heavy heart, Warren and his cohorts also did it knowing that their friend was with them in spirit, and that by honoring his music, they were also honoring a man they all knew and loved. “It means a lot, you know, because this is something that’s being done for a person that we really love. It’s deeper than music, that’s a brother to us, to me and Kurupt and Snoop and Daz … it’s really deeper than that,” he said. “I mean, like, I’m not a psychic or a genie or a gypsy or anything, but I know deep down in my heart he’s around us, he’s with us … he’s with us in spirit. Everything we do, he’s a part of it.” Related Photos 2011 SXSW Music Festival Nate Dogg: A Life In Photos Related Artists Nate Dogg Warren G

Selena Gomez Plans Britney Spears Tribute For Her Tour

But she won’t be trying to copy Brit’s dance moves: ‘I wouldn’t want to butcher it!’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Christina Garibaldi Selena Gomez Photo: MTV News Selena Gomez is a die-hard Britney Spears fan, so when she hits the road on her upcoming tour, she plans to pay homage to the Femme Fatale herself. “We haven’t announced anything yet, but I’m kind of creatively thinking of what I want,” she told MTV News. “We are working on a few cover songs. We are working on a Britney tribute, which I’m so stoked about, ’cause I love Britney. I was like, ‘I have to do it.’ I wanna do a mash-up of all her songs and just go for it.” The tribute will look to the past and to the future in terms of Spears’ discography, Gomez teased. “Were gonna do a little tribute. We’re gonna do her hits, ‘ … Baby One More Time,’ and then I think we’re going to try to incorporate ‘Toxic’ and that phase,” she said. “And then we might do some of her recent, new stuff.” While she may sing some of Spears’ biggest hits, she has no plans to re-create any of her famous dance moves. “I don’t think so. I’m not going to even touch Britney!” she said. “She’s so good. I wouldn’t want to butcher it. I’m just going to pay tribute to her! I’m gonna say she’s awesome.” Gomez is also very excited for March 29 to come around — that’s the day Spears releases her new album, Femme Fatale. “I’m so excited, and I’m ready to hear all of it,” Gomez gushed. When she spoke to Ryan Seacrest recently, Gomez shared that Spears’ show was the first concert she ever went to. “We were in the nosebleeds with my cousin,” she recalled. “I got the T-shirt and glow stick. and I just remember it being the highlight of my life! I felt like I was on cloud nine!” Which Britney songs do you want Selena to perform? Share your ideas in the comments! Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: Selena Gomez

Jennifer Hudson Says R. Kelly, Alicia Keys ‘Gave Me My Sound’ For I Remember Me

Singer calls Kelly’s ability to channel her ‘kind of creepy.’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Christina Garibaldi Jennifer Hudson Photo: MTV News On Tuesday, Jennifer Hudson drops her new album, I Remember Me , and it seems the artists she worked with on the record also remembered her. For the release, she hooked up with Alicia Keys and R. Kelly, who seemed to channel the singer perfectly — almost too perfectly. “R. Kelly was writing for me at the time, and I didn’t even know it, and they just sent me this song,” she recalled to MTV News about the track “Where You At.” “You don’t want to get your hopes up too high of being able to work with someone like R. Kelly, and when they sent the song, they told me, ‘Kelly put up a shrine of pictures of you to channel you, and he created this song.’ ” Whatever he was doing seemed to really work, as Hudson explained: “It was kind of creepy to me, because when I heard the song, I was like, ‘Oh my god! … He’s, like, giving me me! This is what I would do! This is something I would say.’ And I hadn’t even met him until after … and I’m like, ‘This is bizarre.’ ” Crediting Kelly and Keys, Hudson notes that “they gave me my sound.” And it seems whatever otherworldly bond she had with Kelly, she had a more-grounded one with Keys, with whom she worked on the songs “Angel,” “Everybody Needs Love” and “Don’t Look Down.” “I must say that working with Alicia was my favorite sessions in the recording studio ever, and I think it was partly because … it was a learning experience,” she said about Keys, who gave birth days after their sessions. “She’s just amazing to work with. We had such a good time together. … It was an amazing, fun experience.” Which I Remember Me collaboration are you most looking forward to hearing? Tell us in the comments below! ‘Glee’ Wins With Originals ‘Loser Like Me,’ ‘Get It Right’

After veering into Rebecca Black territory with ‘Only Child,’ the New Directions hit the mark at Regionals. By Aly Semigran New Directions perform in the “Original Song” episode of “Glee” Photo: FOX The stars of “Glee” have become chart-topping , record-breaking , award-winning sensations — all while singing other people’s songs. Now, after two seasons, the Fox series opted to make its own music. During Tuesday night’s episode, the kids of McKinley High created a set list of new songs that reflected the show’s message, all while paying homage to the tunes that they’ve previously covered. Gleeks have had a chance to hear some of the originals, namely “Loser Like Me,” “Get It Right” and “Hell to the No” for a few weeks now. Ryan Seacrest debuted “Loser Like Me” and “Get It Right” on his radio show in late February, and both songs are featured on Glee: The Music, Volume 5, which was released on March 8. Meanwhile, all three numbers have been available for listening on Gleethemusic.com , but fans finally got to enjoy the songs in context with the story. While gearing up for Regionals, some New Directions members came up with their own songs. In addition to the three radio-ready tunes previously mentioned, there were two silly serenades whose literal message called to mind this week’s viral sensation, Rebecca Black’s “Friday.” Santana (Naya Rivera) sang a dedication to her smiley beau Sam (Chord Overstreet) called “Trout Mouth,” Puck professed his admiration for his zaftig girlfriend Lauren Zizes (Ashley Fink) with “Big Ass Love,” and Rachel (Lea Michele) wrote a very literal tune about being sibling-free, “Only Child.” The first of the big three originals came from Mercedes (Amber Riley), an ode to defiance called “Hell to the No.” The soulful singer belted lyrics like, “Mama said, ‘Get your ass outta bed’/ I said, ‘Hell to the no,’ ” while accompanied by a foot-stomping beat from the band. The Mercedes original (there’s even a reference to her previous tater-tots crusade in there) was reminiscent of an earlier Riley performance: her octave-raising cover of Jazmine Sullivan’s “Bust Your Windows” in season one. But Riley wasn’t the only actress with a solo standout. Lea Michele loaned her trademark voice to the ballad “Get It Right.” The song, which has hints of prior “Glee” favorites such as Paramore’s “The Only Exception” and Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” is about Rachel’s struggle to get over ex-boyfriend Finn (Cory Monteith). The Golden Globe-nominated star sings, ” ‘Cause my best intentions keep making a mess of things/ I just want to fix it somehow/ But how many times will it take for me to get it right?” That was soon followed by “Loser Like Me,” a song that’s something of a lyrical Cliff’s Notes about the show itself. Keeping in line with the recent trend of “It’s good to be different” tunes such as Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way,” Katy Perry’s “Firework” and Pink’s “Raise Your Glass” (the latter two have also been covered on the show), the song is a spirited, if not slightly corny number. The inspirational pop ditty, which along with “Get It Right,” was written by “Glee” music producer Adam Anders along with pop mainstay Max Martin, was about New Directions’ response to Coach Sylvester’s (Jane Lynch) endless taunting and scheming against them. It featured lines like, “Pushed me up against the locker/ But hey, all I do is shake it off/ I’ll get you back when I’m your boss.” “Get It Right”, “Hell to the No” and “Loser Like Me” are all currently available for download on iTunes.

Jennifer Lopez Features Lil Wayne On Next Single

‘I’m Into You’ will be next single off Love? album, which still has no release date. By Gil Kaufman Lil Wayne Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images Steven Tyler isn’t the only “American Idol” judge trying to make the most of a double dose of weekly prime-time exposure on TV’s biggest reality show. While Aerosmith’s back catalog has gotten a boost thanks to its prominent placement on “Idol,” fellow judge Jennifer Lopez has parlayed her spot on the program into the highest-charting single of her career with “On the Floor.” And over the weekend, she revealed that she’s got a strong follow-up single ready to go. Speaking with fans during an online chat , on Saturday, Lopez said she’s finished a song called “I’m Into You” with Lil Wayne that will be the next single from her still unscheduled Love? album. “My next single I believe will be a song called ‘I’m Into You’ and it’s going to feature Lil Wayne, so look out for that,” she said. Asked to name her favorite rapper, Lopez said it used to be Nas, but that these days she’s really feeling Weezy, whom she called a “very unique” and “fresh” voice. “Plus he’s on my single!” And though J.Lo did not have a specific release date to announce for the album, she said it would “probably” come out in late May, once two or three singles have hit radio. That would be perfect timing, of course, since “Idol” wraps in mid-May. Lopez, who has toured sporadically during her music career, also said that she planned to launch a world tour in support of Love? . Over the course of the two years she worked on the new album, Lopez said she also recorded Spanish-language versions of some of the songs, and plans to release a full-length Spanish album next. Asked what the hardest part of being a judge on “Idol” this season has been so far, Lopez said, “I didn’t expect that it would be such an emotional roller coaster for me.” She also admitted that saying goodbye to the departing contestants has been very difficult for her. Top 10 50 Cent Songs

Continued here:

50 Cent has been known to be a trouble maker in the music industry and it may be easier to pick his top ten beefs, but it is just as easy to pick 50 Cent’s top 10 songs. After dealing with industry politics and the politics of the streets, 50 Cent found himself along side Eminem dominating the rap game. Check out my top 10 50 Cent songs below. WBW: Top 9 Music Videos Of The 2000s “In Da Club” –  They say any song that’s simple and catchy and it doesn’t get any simpler than:  “Go Shorty, it’s your birthday we gone party like its your birthday.” After releasing several hot mixtapes on the streets, I think this track may have certified 50 Cent as a legit maker. Dr. Dre’s beat had such a perfect bounce that folks that it was meant for Detox. “What Up Gangsta” – The follow up track after the intro on Get Rich Or Die Trying was the perfect aggressive track to start the album off.  The beat dropped with such force that you knew he meant business from the jump. What makes this one of 50′s  best is that he basically laid it down that he wanted problems. Hate him or love him you would not ignore him! “Many Men” (Wish Death) – The song told the story of how and why people hate on another individual working hard to get to the top. This worked so well because 50 Cent was an underdog, but ironically he is the one now looking to end careers. “I Get Money” –  During the battle with Kanye West on who would sell the most records, this was the track that put life into the Curtis album. The shocker was getting Diddy and Jay-z on the remix, one of 50 Cents many great ideas,  along with sampling the classic Audio Two’s “Top Billing.” There was also some controversy about the beat being extremely similar to Cassidy’s  2005 hit “I’m A Hustler.” “Candy Shop “- Featuring Olivia (who was once the first lady of G-Unit) has to be 50 Cent’s most commercial song to date.  When I say commercial, I mean the sound had to be the most pop 50 Cent has ever gone. The chart topper helped 50 Cent sell over 1 million albums during its first week release of  ”The Massacre.” “Window Shopper” – off the “Get Rich or Die Tryin” soundtrack is where 50 Cent got to do what he does best;  stuntin on em and taunting people. “How 2 Rob” – featuring D-Dot aka The Mad Rapper was what got 50 Cent noticed in the public and industry. I think any song about how to rob actual rappers and r&b singers would get attention, but 50 Cent caused a frenzy with this one by naming names of real people. A few people even made response records. “21 Questions” is one of 50 Cent’s best ballads. As soon as that Barry White guitar lick kicks in you know where things are headed. Yes, his first album was probably his best but this was a big reason why. “Ayo Technology ” featuring Justin Timberlake also helped keep the album “Curtis” alive after releasing several singles that did not grab the attention of the people. “Wangsta”- The second single off the 8 Mile soundtrack coining the term “Wangsta” as someone who does a lot of fronting, who isn’t what they claim to be. The hood began using this term for a while and some people possibly still do. Word was this term was created to describe his rival Ja Rule. Tareq and Michaele Salahi to Sue VH1 Over Celebrity Rehab Firing?!

The Salahis are idiots who need to take a long walk off a short pier. We may have just risked litigation by saying that, because White House party crasher turned loser reality star Tareq Salahi is hinting that he may sue Celebrity Rehab for illegally firing his wife because of her “health condition.” It’s unclear what “condition” Tareq is referring to, but whatever. Barack would not approve of this nonsense. Michaele Salahi has said that she suffers from multiple sclerosis, which we feel bad about and all, but milking it for Z-list fame won’t get you sympathy. Tareq and his lawyers issued a statement saying, “[Michaele] was fired due to her health condition [in] violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.” Earlier this week, Tareq said that his wife’s only addiction was “chocolate” … leaving many wondering why she was even on the show in the first place. They later said she went on the program to receive help from Dr. Drew to treat MS. It’s not clear how the good doctor planned on doing so, however.
