Racist Clemson Student Popped After Threatening To Lynch Black Student Protestors

Twitter Racist Student Popped After Calling Student Protest A “Slave Auction” And Much Worse Students who are protesting the defacing of an African American History Banner at Clemson University were met with threats instead of support from one white student and now that student has been arrested. 21-year-old Jamie Reece Moore was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a cellphone after posting threatening messages on the app “Yik Yak” according to The Root . Here is what happened to spark student protests, as reported by the Associate Press . In four years at Clemson University, the rotting bananas hanging from an African-American history banner on campus weren’t the most racially offensive thing biology major Brendan Standifer has seen. They were just the latest. Standifer said a quiet racial schism runs through the campus. “The only time you see true unity is on game day,” he said of the university’s football team which made it to the national championship game in January, but lost. Standifer, who is black, joined a few dozen other students Monday on the steps of Sikes Hall, Clemson’s administrative building, for the sixth day of a protest demanding more diversity at South Carolina’s second largest university. The protest was still underway Wednesday.  Just 6 percent of Clemson students are black in a state where nearly a third of the people are African-American. None of South Carolina’s 13 public four-year colleges and universities has a smaller percentage of black students, and Clemson’s African-American enrollment is behind most major Southern universities. The University of Mississippi is 13 percent black. University of South Carolina students are 10 percent African-American, while Auburn University, founded in circumstances to Clemson by agricultural interests unhappy with their state’s flagship university, has 7 percent black enrollment. The Root reports that Jamie Reece Moore, 21, who was fed up with the protests decided to post the following racist massages for other student to see on Yik Yak according to a police report. * “What time is the lynch mob tomorrow? I got a couple hundred feet of rope.” * “Let’s do to the Clemson protesters what Ohio did to the Kent State student protesters 40 years ago.” * “Drive by at Sikes?” * Slave auction tomorrow morning at 8am @ Sikes Hall. Lots of good protest workers. Get them while they’re mad!!!” * “So have they started lynching protesters yet?” SMH, why is this white student so BOTHERED by what a small amount of black students are doing?? Oh yea, racism.

Get Involved: Voter Turnout For Black Women Is A Major Key To Keeping Donald Trump Out Of The White House

Black Voter Turnout Is Imperative To Keeping Donald Trump From Being Elected President RawStory taken the liberty of breaking down exactly why it is SO important that each and everyone of us do our civic duty and cast our votes. All of us, but especially black women… As the Democratic nominating contest speeds up, African-American voters – especially women – have some tough, and influential, choices to make. South Carolina is the first primary where African Americans are the majority of Democratic voters, controlling 55 percent of the vote. That makes South Carolina a battleground for black votes, especially those of African-American women. We know that victories in early primaries are important. Later voters often pick their candidate based on early primary outcomes. The South Carolina primary is perhaps as important as the Iowa and New Hampshire primaries because it could create momentum in subsequent contests where black votes will help candidates win. The following statistics explains exactly how influential the black vote can be and how detrimental it can be for us if we don’t… African-American voters are the most loyal supporters of the Democratic Party. Their support for Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore was 90 percent in 2000. In 2004, they voted for John Kerry by 88 percent. Barack Obama won an all-time high of 95 percent in 2008. According to exit polls, black voters were 13 percent of the national electorate in 2008. They represented approximately one in every 4.25 Obama voters that same year. Sixty-five percent, or 15.9 million, of voting-age African Americans cast a ballot in the general election, compared to 66.1 percent of white citizens. But, the voter turnout rate among eligible black female voters was 68.8 percent – the highest of all racial, ethnic and gender groups in the 2008 American presidential election. Especially in southern states with large black voting-eligible populations – including South Carolina, Mississippi, Georgia, North Carolina and Louisiana – the black female voter outperformed in terms of registration and turnout. Since 1996, this gender gap has been consistently present. African-American women voted at higher rates than African-American men by a range of 7 or 8 percentage points in 2008. That rate was even higher – about 9 percentage points – in 2012, which is 6 percentage points higher than other racial groups. All this is to say that we, as people of color, HAVE to have the same level of enthsiasm about voting in November as we did in 2008 when Obama was running for his first term. Anything less than that will lead to all of us watching “President Trump” take the oath in 2017… Image via Shutterstock

Miss Teen South Carolina Reflects Back On Embarrassing 2007 Flub

No one will ever forget the gobbly gook answer Miss Teen South Carolina Caitlin Upton gave when Friday Night Lights ' Aimee Teegarden asked why a percentage of Americans couldn't locate our country on a world map. “I definitely went through a period where I was very, very depressed ,” Upton told New York Magazine in a Where Are They Now-type series on past internet sensations. “I had some very dark moments where I thought about committing suicide. The fact that I have such an amazing family and friends, it really, really helped.' Upton got a little upset talking about the incident, in which she nervously rambled for 30 seconds. “This is the first time I’ve actually been able to talk about it. It was awful, and it was every single day for a good two years. “I’ve only spoken to my fiancé about how I felt in those moments truthfully, and my best friend. And, recently, my mom. But, like, my dad doesn’t even know yet. People were awful to Upton after the flub.   “I lost a lot of close friends over it — people I’d been friends with since I was 10, people I grew up playing soccer with,” Upton, who is now engaged and works as a model, admitted. “One group of girls took me to this party at the University of South Carolina, and I walk in, and the entire USC baseball team surrounded me and bashed me with the harshest, meanest comments I had ever heard.” Others would leave threatening letters in Upton's parents' mailbox; one even read “GO DIE CAITE UPTON, GO DIE FOR YOUR STUPIDITY.” Though she's not fully over her 15 minutes of infamy, Upton is thankful for another model who shares the same name. “The past few years, going brunette, I have not had any recognition for the Miss Teen USA Pageant at all,” Upton said. “But I also get recognized for having a similar name to Kate Upton. So I’ll go into my auditions and be like, 'Yes, yes, I know — I’m the other one.'” I still feel SO BAD for this girl.
