Dirty South Teams Up With Axwell, Rudy For ‘Dreams’

Aussie says he hopes to have track ready for Miami Music Week. By Adam Stewart Dirty South Photo: MTV News It’s looking like another big year for Aussie Dirty South (born Dragan Roganovic) as he gears up for what’s certain to be a massive week in Miami. Coming off a huge 2010, highlighted by his club smash “Phazing,” Roganovic is now poised to unleash a Miami monster with good friend and Swedish House Mafia third Axwell . “He was actually just here with me in the studio a few minutes ago,” Roganovic told MTV News. “We’ve been working on our new track along with Rudy called ‘Dreams,’ a really solid big-room track that we’re trying have finished for Miami.” If it indeed makes the cut in time for Miami Music Week, the piano-laden progressive house bomb featuring Rudy’s vocals is poised to be one of Miami’s most-buzzed-about tracks. Having already been featured on several Dirty South and Axwell collaborations including their latest, “Open Your Heart,” and Axwell’s anthemic remix of TV Rock’s “In the Air,” Rudy brings high-flying and euphoric vocals into the mix. “Dreams” comes on the heels of another massive release, “Coming Home” featuring Skylar Grey, a remix commissioned by Diddy himself, which dropped on Beatport just last week and is grabbing massive support from the likes of Pete Tong and others. Dirty South will have a major presence at some of Miami’s biggest shows this week, including his own Star Phazing party Thursday at Mansion and the Surfcomber Closing Party with Axwell on Sunday. He’s also slated to take the stage at Swedish House Mafia’s “Miami Masquerade Motel: One Night Stand,” where he’ll play along with, among many others, his good friend Max Vangeli. Some fans expressed concern the two DJs were feuding, based on some recent tweets. “First gym session in a while, I’m in pain!” Vangeli tweeted. “You mean, you just got back from ‘Pilates For Young Women Class’?” Dirty South wrote back. “It’s funny with Max and I. Most people totally understand that it was just him and I going back and forth, totally joking around,” Roganovic explained with a laugh. “But some people took it seriously and thought were really going at it! But it’s all fun, and we’re good friends. We’re actually getting shirts made up for Miami with the two of us with boxing gloves on!” Related Artists Dirty South Axwell

When Harmony Korine’s short film Umshini Wam screened alongside the latest from Korean filmmaker Park Chan-Wook ( Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Thirst ) at SXSW, both efforts had an unproven element to unveil. For Korine, the wild cards were his stars, the South African hip-hop act Die Antwoord. But for Park, it was something even more groundbreaking: he filmed the mystical, spiritual ghost story Night Fishing entirely using the iPhone 4.

Billy Burke on His ‘Tasty’ Turn in Drive Angry 3D and the Red Riding Hood/Twilight Connection

Twilight fans who flock to see Drive Angry 3D this weekend in support of Billy Burke are in for a bit of a surprise, as the actor — who plays the calm, mustachioed father to Kristen Stewart’s Bella in Summit’s Twilight Saga films — swaggers his way through the South as a sexually-charged Satanic cult leader. To put it plainly, Burke’s Jim Jones-meets-Jim Morrison villain gives co-star Nicolas Cage a run for his money in the anti-subtlety department, and Burke clearly relished every second of the departure from Charlie Swan.

The Fire Rages On In Egypt: Protesters Give The Government An Ultimatum ‘Sh*t Or Get Off The Pot’

Gotta hand it to these folks in Egypt, they will NOT be denied what they feel they are owed. CAIRO – Opposition groups accused the Egyptian government Wednesday of trying to draw out the process of amending the constitution after Vice President Omar Suleiman said the only way forward was through “dialogue” or a “coup.” The public show of dissent that has roiled Egypt for more than two weeks spread for the first time to the labor sector, with trade unions, railway technicians, oil workers, public transportation empoloyees and some members of state-controlled media striking or joining the protests, according to local news broadcasts. Despite government efforts to placate them, demonstrators were adamant that President Hosni Mubarak act quickly to end his 30-year autocratic rule. They said they were angered by Suleiman’s remarks on Tuesday that the demonstrations must end soon, and by the vice president’s claim that Egypt is not ready for democratic rule. “We believe all [President Hosni Mubarak] needs is seven days maximum” to amend the constitution by setting term limits and relaxing eligibility requirements to run for president, said Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour, the secretary general of the Wafd Party, a liberal opposition party involved in negotiations with the government. “We are faced with two choices,” Nour said. “Either to move forward with reform through constitutional legitimate channels, or we’re opening the door to complete chaos or a military coup.” For the 16th day, thousands of protesters gathered in central Cairo’s Tahrir Square to demand Mubarak’s immediate ouster. Protesters also gathered outside the parliament and the cabinet building for the second consecutive day. Al-Jazeera reported that the cabinet building was evacuated because of the protests. A government spokesman said that he could not confirm that account but believes the cabinet may be moving their offices because of the demonstrations. Dear Mr. Mubarak, It’s a wrap, just give them their “free” and get it over with already. Clearly, they’re not about to stand down. Kind Regards, Bossip Nation. Source

R.I.P. Marvin Sease, A Fine Singer And A Great American…”Candy Licker”??? [Video]

For those of you unfamiliar with Mr. Sease work, allow us to brief you on his life, career, and well, you’ll see… Born in Blackville, South Carolina, Sease started as a gospel artist, joining a gospel group called the Five Gospel Crowns located in Charleston, South Carolina. After singing with them, Sease then left at age 20 for New York City. At this young age settling into New York, he then joined another gospel group called the Gospel Crowns. Having a preference for the musical style of R&B, Sease left the gospel circuit to form his own R&B group. In this group Sease was accompanied by his own three brothers, and named the backing band Sease. This band did not find popularity and eventually broke up. He did not quit performing musically, but began to cover songs that started a career with a recurring gig at the Brooklyn club, Casablanca. In 1986, he recorded a self titled album featuring one of his more popular songs, “Ghetto Man”. This started his professional career with his fans in the South’s circuit of bars, blues festivals, and juke joints. While promoting his self produced and publicized debut album, he entered a recording contract with Polygram. With this contract, he was able to launch his music nationally with the re-release of his self titled LP on Mercury Records in 1987. This updated release of his previous material also included the new ten minute track “Candy Licker,” which became an instant success for Sease through the South.[1] Success had finally come to Sease without the help of airplay which deemed his sound too explicit for the audience.[2] Over the next decade Sease released several more records for Mercury and Jive Records, which ranked on the US Billboard R&B chart. Sease’s success was notably linked with his chart topping song “Candy Licker”, and ensured a strong female based following. Here is one of Mr. Sease’s finest compositions entitled “Candy Licker”.
