Today, September 13, 2011 marks the 15th anniversary of the death of Tupac Amaru Shakur, R.I.P. Hands down, Tupac has the most loyal following of fans of any rapper that has ever picked up the mic and spit it. That fact is a testament to how much he affected people with his spirit, message, and charisma. With that in mind, we gathered a collection of pictures of fans that have immortalized the thug poet on their bodies through tattoos of varying iconic pictures of the late, great, Mr. Shakur. Flip through to peep how much people love one of America’s most wanted.
We turn to Deepak Chopra, one of the genuine sages or our age, for insights into the mind-body-spirit interplay. In this segment, Deepak describes the effect of a deep spiritual experience. According to the ancient wisdon traditions of India, when you get in touch with your spirit, you experience love, knowingness/intuition and happiness. In physical terms, this means that your body produces serotonin and dopamine – the happy hormones; oxytocin – the pleasure hormone, and opiates – which provide a feeling of intoxication and help regulate the immune system. http://www.youtube.com/v/JfBWtovxYQY?f=videos&app=youtube_gdata See the original post: Healing Quest: Deepak Chopra on Spirit and Healing
One of the biggest discoveries you’ll make this year — and one of this fall’s class of neophyte Oscar contenders — is 22-year-old Elizabeth Olsen . The younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley may have earned her first credits as a child actor in her siblings’ tween franchise-building movies, but she launches her very serious film career this October in the Sundance award-winning Martha Marcy May Marlene , Sean Durkin’s deeply observed drama-thriller about a shell-shocked young woman (Olsen) who reunites with her family after spending years under the influence of a sexually-abusive cult.
I Melt With You , Mark Pellington ‘s dark — and I mean way dark — meditation on midlife crises and male bonding, proved to be decidedly difficult stuff for many critics Sundance Film Festival debut last January. Back then I wrote in favor of giving its existential punk romanticism a chance to make its case (especially if you’re a fan of folks like Jeremy Piven , who turns in a great face-melting performance). You’ll finally get your chance to weigh in on the IMWY debate this fall as the film makes its way to VOD and limited theatrical release; get in the spirit with three new stills that highlight the trajectory of Thomas Jane, Rob Lowe, Christian McKay, and Piven’s bromantic weekend of horrors.
If you’ve ever found yourself in the company of an exceptionally negative person, you know how draining it can be. It will literally weigh on your spirit. Once you’ve detected a hint of “not right” in a person, you have to make the decision of whether you’re willing to handle their negativity or deciding to next them in order to make room for some more positive people. First trailer from the film has been released following a preview at last month’s San Diego Comic-Con. By Aubrey Sitterson “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” Photo: Columbia Pictures One of the most surprising things to come out of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con was footage from “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.” Everyone knew that the film was roaring down the highway toward us, but no one expected it to actually look, well, good. After scenes from the movie were shown at the event, the Internet was abuzz with talk of fans finally getting the “Ghost Rider” movie they deserve. Now, you can see what all the fuss was about for yourself with the first trailer for the upcoming film . Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” is the sequel to 2007’s “Ghost Rider.” The biker with the flaming-skull head has long been one of Marvel’s darker and more twisted characters, especially considering his backstory as a motorcycle daredevil whose pact with the devil didn’t turn out quite as he planned. As the Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze rides America’s forgotten highways, meting out vengeance with his flaming bike, signature chain and a host of fire-based powers. Like the 2007 film, “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” features Nicolas Cage, and the character boasts a whole new look that ties into the darkness at the Ghost Rider’s core. “The Ghost Rider is just the coolest-looking superhero, and it has to be the one that goes to film and looks the best,” Cage told MTV News last month. “I think they’ve achieved that with this.” At the helm of “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” are Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine , the pair of directors best known for their high-octane flicks “Crank” and “Crank: High Voltage.” The duo told MTV News that they were test-driving all-new techniques while filming the movie, including Neveldine strapping on Rollerblades and clinging to the back of a motorcycle just to get a single amazing shot. That commitment to madness is clearly on display in the new trailer for “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance,” as the movie looks to be fully embracing what makes the character so spectacularly over-the-top. Though it starts out slow, by the one-minute mark, you’ll find yourself up to your leather jacket in explosive, flame-drenched action. Over the course of the trailer, you’ll see the Ghost Rider take out cars with his chain, spit bullets at bad guys and even pee fire. Seriously — he actually pees fire, and it’s absolutely awesome. Movies have become so technically sophisticated, so hyper-real, that there’s almost no such thing as a cheap pulp entertainment anymore: So many movies set out to wow us, which isn’t the same as giving us pleasure. Yet even within those dispiriting parameters, you couldn’t come up with a more mediocre wow than Marcus Nispel’s Conan the Barbarian , which is perhaps less a remake of John Milius’ 1982 crowdpleaser than an attempt to honor the spirit of Robert E. Howard’s original novels, though it’s hard to tell exactly what effect Nispel is going for. I wanted to giggle when Ron Perlman, as Conan’s dad-to-be, performed an emergency mid-battle C-section on his dying wife. But the Conan birth scene, so epic in its epicness, is played totally straight. When Perlman holds that tastefully blood-streaked CGI newborn aloft to the mighty heavens, he seems to be angling for a few gifts of frankincense or myrrh, or at least a gift certificate from Land of Nod.
Holy paranormal orgasms Batman! During an interview with the New York Times Boardwalk Empire actress Paz De La Huerta shared an eye-brow raising story about her visit to Graceland… You said once that Elvis’s ghost gave you an orgasm in his recording studio at Graceland. That’s unbelievable. I was with my ex-boyfriend and had to beg him to go to Graceland. I felt like he was jealous of Elvis because I’ve always been infatuated by him, which is hysterical because he’s passed away. Your ex-boyfriend, the singer Scott Weiland? Yeah. So I went to his recording studio because sometimes the sensitive people feel him in this room, and I stood in this corner and I felt him. What can I say? I felt him touch me. When you say he touched you, you mean in a Hitachi Magic Wand kind of way? I mean, come on, he’s a ghost. I felt his spirit go through me and give me pleasure. I experienced that when my cat died. She waited until I got home from Sundance, and she passed away the second she was in my arms, and I felt her spirit go through my body. But this was different. It was like Elvis was tickling me with a feather. This broad is so dizzy. Wonder how many she had before she did this interview? SMH Source
