Source: Jeff Hahne / Getty The NBA marries its culture and game better than any other league in sports. On Sunday night, Charlotte became the number one city for hip-hop in the country as rappers flew in, partied and in the case of Meek Mill and J. Cole , performed in the marquee event of All-Star Weekend — the All-Star Game. Meek opened up for player intros, running through a medley of hits from 2018’s “Intro” to “Dreams And Nightmares,” “Going Bad,” “Uptown Vibes” and others. I’m pretty sure Team LeBron getting the “Dreams And Nightmares” intro for player introductions was a cheat code as they came back from 20-down to win the game. Meanwhile, Cole repped for classic Starter jackets and ’90s fashion before checking off a number of current hits and items from both KOD and 2014 Forest Hills Drive . He even teased his verse from “a lot,” telling 21 Savage , “We love you,” during the broadcast. Even Team LeBron had to get in on the action as they asked head coach Mike Malone if they could head out from the locker room to watch Cole perform “ATM” and “Middle Child.” But the biggest Carolina win, from an old school perspective came from Anthony Hamilton who delivered a little soul and passion to his rendition of the National Anthem. It’s not Marvin Gaye circa 1983 but it was far better than what Fergie gave us last year in Los Angeles. Source: Paul Marotta / Getty Prime Time Sports Shuts Down After Removing Nike Merch To Protest Kaepernick Whew, chile, the karma. This story is some of the sweetest revenge a white man has ever fallen victim to . According to KOAA , the owner of Prime Time Sports in Chapel Hills Mall in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Stephen Martin, has been forced to close the doors for good after 20 years in business. Apparently, Martin was so outraged by Nike’s decision to align themselves with a kneeling Colin Kaepernick that he decided to pull all the Nike product from his shelves. No hats, no socks, no t-shirts, but most importantly, no jerseys. Martin used to carry the official team merchandise for all 32 NFL teams and was the only place in a significantly large area with such a product. “Being a sports store without Nike is kind of like being a milk store without milk or a gas station without gas. How do you do it? They have a monopoly on jerseys,” said Martin. You taste that? The sweet flavor of comeuppance…mmmm, just like grandmama use to make. But if you think that quote is delicious, lay your eyes on this soup cookie cobbler: “As much as I hate to admit this, perhaps there are more Brandon Marshall and Colin Kaepernick supporters out there than I realized,” said Martin. Good riddance, Mr. Martin. You deserve all of the bad things that befall you as a result of your decision. He’ll probably end up on the welfare line with folks who proudly support Colin Kaepernick. *chef’s kiss*
(Photo Credit: Oren Siddo) Name: Jessica Fennix IG: @jessicaashhleyy Agency: Crawford Models Claim to Fame: Fennix was one of the featured faces who brought to life Harlem’s Fashion Row collaboration with Lebron James and Nike. Before she was walking for a historic collaboration with Lebron James and striking a pose for ESSENCE street style events Jessica Fennix’s modeling experience didn’t extend any further than a jungle gym. In an exclusive interview with Hello Beautiful the fresh face explained how she went from watching on the Midwestern sidelines to strutting down Manhattan runways . (Photo Credit: Nara Gaisina) “Oh, my goodness I was beyond nervous! I had no idea what I was doing at all any type of previous modeling was as a kid my mom was just taking me around shooting pictures of me at like a park or something.” It was a chance meeting at a Starbucks that thrust the 5’10 beauty into the fringes of the industry. The Kanas City native had been sitting with a friend enjoying their drinks when a local formalwear designer named Shelley Woods came up to her raving about her look. Not long after she was meeting with professionals about the possibility of signing to an agency. “I was a volleyball player at that time, so I was just kind of tough tomboyish a little bit. I was just so nervous! I didn’t know any type of poses I didn’t know, you know any angles. I didn’t know any technique that a model should know they just kind of threw me in the clothes threw me in hair and makeup my first photo shoot I look so awkward you can tell that I was really nervous.” Despite Fennix’s feelings about being in front of the camera the proofs from the shoots told a different story. Her appeal was undeniable. Even before she was working her family saw her potential. “I was always very tall and skinny,” says Fennix. “They used to always call me Naomi Campbell . That’s what my cousins would call me they wouldn’t call my name.” She says the moniker peaked her interest and she enjoyed the glimpses of the field she caught on television , but she never worked towards the goal of seeing herself on the runway because she wasn’t quite sure how to do so. “As young girl I loved modeling I always wanted to get into it, but I never actually knew how so I never pursued it myself.” She says she would watch every episode of America’s Next Top Model and always found herself rooting for the underdog. “Oh my God I loved Danielle she was definitely my favorite girl. She beat the odds she had a lot going against her on the show and she conquered that,” she stated. While she says she loves her pictures her respect for Danielle was spawned by the perception of the model’s commitment presented on the show. “She was sick at one point in time and she killed the photoshoot sick! I was like dang I love the way that she goes after everything she doesn’t let anyone, or anything get in the way of what she wanted to do which was model.” Fennix says she “100%” took that approach when it came time to take her career to the country’s modeling capital. She didn’t just admire Danielle, she saw herself in her. “My purpose in moving to New York was to further my modeling career and one of my major goals was to get signed to an agency and I actually just got signed to Crawford Models so that actually was a huge goal that I reached.” Another goal she has for herself is to connect her background in nutrition and sports medicine to the modeling industry. Her high school in Kansas had college track courses and she’s recognized many of the things she was taught are hazardous in the habits some of her fellow models use to maintain their weight. Her advanced understanding of nutrition allows her to take a calculated approach to succeeding in a field where she has to maintain her measurements. Instead of flash dieting she’s been able to rely on staples like berries and fish to create a reasonable routine. She says, “I like to eat healthy, but I don’t do it to an extreme. I try to find the healthiest, easiest, route for me. I would love to help other models incorporate healthy eating habits in a sustainable way, so they can be living that model lifestyle but also staying healthy.” She’s already thinking about ways to make that happen. “I’m definitely an Aquarius we just have an ambition like crazy we just don’t take no for an answer. My parents are very ambitious driven people they both are entrepreneurs. My dad he has a car dealership and my mother is an interior designer so I kind of always grew up watching them do their thing, helping them do their thing so I just had that drive and will to be successful at what I do, nothing keeps me from my goals.” If her past tentpoles are any indication, we will definitely be seeing more from her soon. “I feel like I ended 2018 on a huge roll and I feel like I want to continue that momentum into 2019.” DON’T MISS: MODEL MONDAY: Olivia Burgess Flexes Her Power MODEL MONDAY: Jade Nikaylah Williams Loves Her 4C Hair MODEL MONDAY: Ambre Anderson Went From Staying On A Couch To Owning A Condo By Keeping Focused [ione_media_gallery src=”https://hellobeautiful.com” id=”3022718″ overlay=”true”]
Source: Ethan Miller / Getty The father of Floyd Mayweather Jr. made his mark in boxing as both a professional fighter and most notably as a trainer. However, a training session didn’t go Floyd Sr.’s way recently and he caught a fade but appeared to be fine shortly after. TMZ Sports reports : Floyd Mayweather Sr. — a former pro boxer who became one of the top trainers in the world — was at his son’s TMT boxing gym in Vegas this week, where he decided to spar with one of the younger guys. It started off great … with Floyd Sr. stickin’ and movin’ and throwing some pretty quick shots — but, when the other guy started to fight back, it didn’t go well for the old man. Floyd took a few clean shots to the head — sending him flying backward … and ended with the elder Mayweather lying flat on his back with his feet up in the air. Before the jokes fly, Floyd Sr. is 66 years old and probably in better shape than men half his age. Anyone can catch the hands and it was just his time. — Photo: Getty
Last fall, divorce documents exposed Shannon Beador’s insane spending . This week, she was back in court, battling it out with her ex-husband, David. This struggle has revealed Shannon’s income … and that David remains furious at how much support he is paying out. On Wednesday, February 6, Shannon Beador filed court documents as part of her divorce battle. RadarOnline got a hold of these papers and learned a lot about the RHOC star’s finances. Shannon says that, in 2017, she raked in about $423,000 for the year. Given her tax bracket, she expects to pay approximately half of those earnings in taxes. (Notably, tax brackets are a little more complicated than that, as different amounts are taxed at different rates, but that shouldn’t matter to the court) The breakdown of Shannon’s self-reported 2017 earnings is that, on average, she made about $37,767 per month. For her occupation, she describes herself as a “reality televison personality.” Yep. For Shannon’s monthly expenses, she says that it averages out to about $30,235 each month. Multiplied by twelve, that would bring her annual expenses to about $362,820. Additionally, Shannon notes a $10,000 expense for “filming preparation.” That is … super vague and could cover almost anything that costs money that she does as part of her role as a reality star. After attorney costs, credit card debt, and taxes, Shannon says that the total balance in her account is $45,352. Not all of those attorney fees are for her current legal struggle with David, however. Shannon is also embroiled in another costly court battle. In the court documents, Shannon notes the costs of fighting “against a defamation complaint brought by the spouse of a former castmate.” That is a reference to David Bellino’s lawsuit against Shannon and Tamra . Though a judge ruled that Shannon should be dropped from the civil suit, the ex of Jesus Jugs has appealed the decision. He claims that Tamra and Shannon maliciously spread rumors in a deliberate attempt to sabotage his business to the tune of $1 million. But Shannon’s real fight continues to be with David. The dispute is over how much support he currently pays her in spousal support and child support for their three teenage daughters. At present, he is paying Shannon about $30,000 in support per month. In late 2017, Shannon described David’s monthly income as $108,168. He has claimed that Shannon rakes in about $900,000 per year — more than twice what Shannon says she made in 2017. Though Shannon did launch a successful QVC food line recently, it’s unclear how David came up with that lofty figure. One thing is certain: David is pissed. More than once, he has tried to persuade the court to reduce the monthly support that he pays to Shannon. He has not been successful. RadarOnline reports that David Beador’s latest attempt, on Thursday, February 7, was shut down by the judge. As a result, David apparently stormed out of court in a fury. Not only has the court’s forensic accountant not advised the judge that David should be paying less, but David’s other gambit failed. He had attempted to get the court to order Shannon to not consume any alcohol whatsoever while she has custody. Shannon countered that David can’t stop her from drinking if she wants to. And the judge agreed. “I’m not going to make that order,” the judge said. “I will make an order that neither you nor Shannon shall be impaired during your parenting time.” “But as for consumption of alcohol, you are free,” the judge ruled. “We live in America and you are free to consume alcohol wherever you want.” Shannon had argued that David had only tried to push the order in order to embarrass her in their very public custody fight. David is also peeved that he and Shannon must wait another two months for their next appearance in court. Though the forensic accountant may agree that David needs to pay slightly less, in the mean time, it will be another two months of the current rate. David blasted Shannon in court for fighting over money, but he seems to be the one who reportedly grows furious after every defeat.
