A group of trailblazing Black women are finally getting the recognition that they deserve. The women who were a part of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion—the U.S. Army’s only all-Black all-women unit during WWII—were honored with a monument in Kansas, Radio.com reported. Five of the 800+ servicewomen were present at the monument dedication ceremony. https://t.co/RKSpLMh6Ty — CBS News Radio (@CBSNewsRadio) December 8, 2018 The group—which was made up of over 800 Black women—was responsible for organizing mail in a segregated unit, the news outlet writes. They served during a time where the Women Army Corps were separated by race and women of color were rarely allowed to serve overseas. Nearly 73 years ago, after the Red Cross had a huge backlog of mail that was supposed to be distributed to U.S. service members, the women were selected to serve in Birmingham, England to help with the issue. Prior to traveling to Europe, they trained in Camp Shanks, New York. The group was led by Lt. Col Charity Edna Adams who was the first Black woman to be an officer in the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps. According to the news outlet, the women went through 65,000 pieces of mail during each shift. They were forced to work in unclean, rat-infested warehouses. The monument in Fort Leavenworth features the names of all the women and imagery from their journey. Five of the women who served were in attendance at the ceremony. “Servicemen want their mail. That’s a morale booster,” 95-year-old Lena King , who was a part of the unit, told KCTV . “Within six months, we had cleared up two to three years of back mail.” The unsung legacies of these women will live on through the monument. The dedication of the monument comes shortly after the passing of Tulsa Race Riot survivor Olivia Hooker who was the first Black women to enter the U.S. Coast Guard in 1945. National Museum Of African American History And Culture To Display LeBron James’ Equality Sneakers

N BA star LeBron James has been an influential voice in the fight for social justice and now his efforts to spread awareness about social equality will be highlighted at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, NBC Washington reported. Lebron James’ Equality sneakers at the NMAAHC https://t.co/NBE1NSKpkp — NBCWashington (@nbcwashington) December 15, 2018 The black and white equality sneakers that James wore during a game against the Washington Wizards last year are heading to the Smithsonian, the news outlet writes. He donned the sneakers to express his disapproval of the racial division that Donald Trump has incited in our country. One sneaker was black, the other was white, and both had the word “equality” on them. The addition of the sneakers to the museum will add to the history and ongoing narrative of how athletes are using their platforms to bring attention to social justice issues. “When he wore the black and white pair, it’s something we paid attention to. Thinking about the significance of the shoes and LeBron’s contribution to fighting for social justice, we decided it would make sense and be a great opportunity to add these shoes into our collection,” Dr. Damion Thomas , who curates the sports exhibit at the museum, told USA Today . “One of our main goals is not just collect things with significant historical background and importance, but also think about the objects that allow us to engage in the contemporary questions and issues that the nation is grappling with.” The sneakers are slated to be featured at the museum this fall. This isn’t the first time that James has been involved with the museum. In 2016, he made a $2.5 million donation to the Muhammad Ali exhibit. “Every professional athlete, regardless of race and gender, owes a huge debt of gratitude to Muhammad Ali,” James said in a statement, according to the Huffington Post . “His legacy deserves to be studied and revered by every generation.” SEE ALSO: The NBA Is Back! Deontay Wilder Says Floyd Mayweather Is Jealous Of Him [Video]

Source: Anadolu Agency / Getty Deontay Wilder is fresh off a draw after his exciting match with Tyson Fury, cementing his place as a fighter to watch in the coming years. Wilder hit back at Floyd Mayweather , who seems to not be a fan of the heavyweight slugger, with the “Bronze Bomber” saying Money is essentially a hater. TMZ Sports reports : We got Wilder out in L.A. just days after he and Tyson Fury put together the most entertaining draw in boxing history and he says, while the world was stoked on the fight, Floyd wasn’t. “They loved it, they loved every bit of it. The world loved it, and I don’t think he liked that though. He wants all the attention on him, and it’s sad that it’s like that.” Deontay’s logic is that he’s a heavyweight, and the big guys are the ones fans REALLY want to see, so it’s just a matter of time before he’s at the top of the sport, and the old guys have to get used to it. When we asked him if he’ll ever make Floyd Mayweather money, he says it’s definitely in the future for him, and once again, seems to take shots at Money. “I’m coming, and it’s a lot of fighters that’s jealous of me for no reason. I’ve never said nothing bad about no one, I’ve always wished them well.” It appears that Mayweather and plenty of others thought Fury should have won the fight despite him being knocked down twice. At any rate, a Wilder and Fury rematch is most certainly primed for the future after their acclaimed match. — Photo: Getty

WELP: Kevin Hart DROPPED From Oscars Hosting Gig After Refusing To Apologize For Old Homophobic Tweets

Source: Daniel Zuchnik/Getty Images / Getty Kevin Hart Ousted As Oscars Host Over Old Tweets Kevin Hart is OUT as host of the 91st Academy Awards ceremony because of his refusal to apologize for old tweets. The comedian seemed elated to have been confirmed as the host of the February 2019 ceremony earlier this week, but things got a bit shaky for him on Thursday afternoon when old tweets and jokes of him speaking negatively about homosexuality resurfaced: I wonder when Kevin Hart is gonna start deleting all his old tweets pic.twitter.com/ZbYG6SI3Xm — Benjamin Lee (@benfraserlee) December 5, 2018 Kevin scrambled to delete the tweets in question (this is only a handful of the offenders), but it appears the damage is done. The funnyman took to his Twitter and Instagram to talk about hoe little time he had for all the animosity coming his way over the old tasteless jokes… But Kevin CLEARLY saw all the negativity he claimed to have been dodging because he popped up a few hours later with THIS to say about all the “negative people” who seem to be so angry about his past (undeleted for some strange reason) tweets and old outlook on homosexuality: And when it came to the Academy, it seemed that Kevin drew the line at apologizing for his old offensive statements. Even though the tweets are brand new news to a large sector of the population that will be watching the Oscars next February, Kevin felt that he’s made all the apologies he’ll ever make for saying the things he has, so the committee can simply find another host if that’s how they feel: Still, Kevin came back and apologized later in the evening, stating that he had made the decision to step down (even though he previously said he had been dropped from the gig) so as not to be a distraction on the big night. I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year's Oscar's….this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past. — Kevin Hart (@KevinHart4real) December 7, 2018 I'm sorry that I hurt people.. I am evolving and want to continue to do so. My goal is to bring people together not tear us apart. Much love & appreciation to the Academy. I hope we can meet again. — Kevin Hart (@KevinHart4real) December 7, 2018 Sheesh. Well it seems like we won’t be getting Kevin as a host this year. Seeing as how he “re-apologized” later on anyway, do you think he simply should have apologized when the Academy first asked and held on to his position as host? Daniel Zuchnik/Getty Images

Redskins Player Rueben Foster’s Allegedly Abused Ex-Girlfriend Says It Was A “Slap In The Face” When He Was Signed To The Team [Video]

Reuben Foster was cut from the San Fransisco 49ers after abuse allegations surfaced from his ex-girlfriend Elissa Ennis. However, the player was quickly picked up by the Washington Redskins, despite the cloud of domestic abuse floating over him. In an interview with Robin Roberts, Elissa claims it was a figurative slap in the face to see the player picked up as if nothing had ever happened after he had attacked her so violently he ruptured her eardrum. Eugenie Bouchard Still Trying to Be Hot of the Day

You give a bitch an instagram and she forgets that she’s a star tennis player who makes a lot of money, and decides she’s fit and can be half naked on social media just like the other whores, despite being a star tennis player with lots of money, and reduces herself to that half naked girl just having a good time… This generation of girl, no matter what she does, what her background is, how much she makes…can’t help but strip down for social media…it’s like a cultural phenom, maybe from growing up watching porn or other whores make it in the world being half naked…it’s like all the judgemental girls who would get mad back in high school at the girl who got all the boys’ attention dressing half naked…have decided that they too can be half naked and get attention too…. It’s like switch was flipped with the cellphone and social media, that made being the slutty slut in the room the norm…and if you’re not getting half naked, you ain’t shit. Pretty good zeitgeist to be a part of as a pervert observer…it’s way better than when Furbies were mainstream….or Beanie Babies… JOIN THE NEWSLETTER YOU ASSHOLES!
