Now, MMA fighter Kimbo Slice, real name Kevin Ferguson, has passed away in a Florida hospital close to his home after briefly being taken in for evaluation under as-yet-unclear circumstances. Rumors of the fighter’s death swirled across social media for hours after Slice was admitted into the hospital with no official confirmation. Sadly the reports turned out to be factual. As TMZ confirms: Kimbo Slice has died … TMZ Sports has confirmed. He was 42. We broke the story, Slice was hospitalized early Monday near his home in Coral Springs, FL. He passed away a short time later. The CEO of Bellator MMA confirmed the news … saying, “We are all shocked and saddened by the devastating untimely loss of Kimbo Slice, a beloved member of the Bellator family.’ “One of the most popular MMA fighters ever, Kimbo was a charismatic, larger-than-life personality that transcended the sport.” “Outside of the cage he was a friendly, gentle giant and a devoted family man. His loss leaves us all with extremely heavy hearts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ferguson family and all of Kimbo’s friends, fans and teammates.” Details surrounding Kimbo’s death are unclear. Understandably, Mariah is frustrated and wants to move forward with her fiance, but sources say Nick is making that difficult. Since the split, all has appeared amicable between the former flames. When Mariah announced her engagement, Nick wished the couple well and even shared a hilarious meme poking fun at himself on Instagram. In the caption, Nick wrote: “Ha! This made me laugh out loud for real!!! HILARIOUS! #AllLove Congrats to @MariahCarey and James! However, around midnight east coast time, the champ officially died while surrounded by friends and family. The boxing legend made history for his prowess in the ring, his brash and boastful demeanor, and his refusal to bite his tongue when it came to social, political, and racial issues — well into his elderly years and despite his condition. Via NBCnews : Muhammad Ali, the silver-tongued boxer and civil rights champion who famously proclaimed himself “The Greatest” and then spent a lifetime living up to the billing, is dead. Ali died Friday at a Phoenix-area hospital, where he had spent the past few days being treated for respiratory complications, a family spokesman confirmed to NBC News. He was 74. “After a 32-year battle with Parkinson’s disease, Muhammad Ali has passed away at the age of 74. The three-time World Heavyweight Champion boxer died this evening,” Bob Gunnell, a family spokesman, told NBC News. Ali had suffered for three decades from Parkinson’s Disease, a progressive neurological condition that slowly robbed him of both his legendary verbal grace and his physical dexterity. A funeral service is planned in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. Even as his health declined, Ali did not shy from politics or controversy, releasing a statement in December criticizing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s proposal to ban Muslims from entering the United States. “We as Muslims have to stand up to those who use Islam to advance their own personal agenda,” he said.
