Worst date ever: Boyfriend bails as foul ball hits girlfriend

–Many women would do anything for a boyfriend who likes to dance. But as one woman unfortunately learned on Monday, a man who decides to do the Texas two-step and electric slide away from your side as a foul ball screams toward you into the stands is far from a dream date. In one of the funnier foul ball mishaps I've seen, a woman named Sarah was struck with a foul ball at the Houston Astros game after her male companion named Bo ducked out of the way. As most of the blogosphere is noting this morning, chivalry is officially dead. After all, if a man can't abide by the simplest rule of a baseball date — don't let your company get hit by a foul ball — what hope can women hold for things like flagging down the beer vendor or having their scorecard kept when they head to the ladies room? On the bright side, Sarah's only injury was a bruise and Bo's strict interpretation of the term “dodgeball” earned the couple a lighthearted moment in the spotlight. Sarah later told the Astros television reporter that she, unlike her boyfriend, saw it coming: “As soon as we got here and I saw where we were sitting, I said 'Baby, I'm going to get hit,” Sarah said. “He said, 'No, you won't. I'll catch it if you do.' We just had this conversation and sure enough, the ball comes at me. He just bailed.” So what was Bo's excuse for his comedic act of temporary cowardice? Well, he claimed to have lost Chris Johnson's(notes) drive in the lights at Minute Maid Park. Of course he lost it in the lights. Here's hoping that the couple stopped at a sporting goods store for some eyeblack. You know, just after their postgame trip to the florist. Snooki and Emilio: Their ‘Jersey Shore’ Love Story

MTV News takes a look at the romance between ‘Jersey Shore’ star Snooki and her one-time beau Emilio. By Jocelyn Vena Snooki Photo: Jerritt Clark/ Getty Images The flame that burned between Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Emilio Masella may have only burned for a short time, but its flame was bright — and it was visible on this season of “Jersey Shore” Early on in season two, Snooki declared that she was through with her search for true love. But it seems that while you can take Snooki out of the Jersey Shore, you can’t take the Jersey Shore out of Snooki. When the season opened, Snooki declared herself “done Snookin’ for love”; at the time, she had been in a relationship with Emilio for two and a half months. In January, she spoke to MTV News about Emilio and the chemistry the two of them shared. I like that he’s a dork, a guy that can laugh and joke around, and he also is a guido,” she said. “So, it’s like the perfect guy — so we just click, and we’re so hot together. “How did I meet him? Facebook,” she continued. “That’s sad, huh? I met him before the show. We talked on Facebook a couple weeks before the show. It wasn’t anything too serious. I know he’s not talking to me because I’m on the show, ’cause he knew me before, kind of. My dad’s a little worried about it.” Even then, though, Snooki expressed her concern over her relationship with Emilio, especially given all the temptations of life in the spotlight. “I am worried because, you know, I like the kid a lot. But … if there’s, like, an opportunity [during the filming of ‘Jersey Shore’ season two], that’s going to be fun.” Snooki wasn’t lying. When she and castmate Vinny shared a bed this season, it caused a rift between her and Emilio. But despite that breach of trust, Emilio isn’t giving up. “I’m heartbroken. I came here to see Snooki and I don’t know if she wants to see me,” Emilio told MTV News while visiting Seaside Heights, New Jersey, recently. “Hopefully it’ll all turn out good and I can get my girl back. If not, I’m gonna have to move on &8212; I mean I seen her holding some other guy’s hand the other day, [and] it kind of pissed me off. “But I’m trying to stay good, not fight. I’m a sweet boy. I’m a lover, not a fighter.” Related Videos Jersey Shore (Season 2) | Ep. 3 | Deleted Scene Related Photos Jersey Shore (Season 2) | Ep. 3 | Flipbook Jersey Shore (Season 2) | Snooki

Fantasia Overdose Draws Sympathy, Criticism From Fans

Reactions to the ‘American Idol’ champ’s apparent suicide attempt are mixed. By Mawuse Ziegbe Fantasia Photo: Bennett Raglin/WireImage Fantasia Barrino’s apparent attempt to take her own life has sparked a range of reactions from the “American Idol” winner’s fans. On Monday, Barrino suffered a drug overdose after ingesting a mix of aspirin and a sleep aid. The singer was taken to a North Carolina hospital, and a police report listed Barrino’s condition as a “suicide/overdose.” In the wake of the singer’s recent troubles, fans have been divided over Barrino’s alleged suicide attempt. “This is so sad and reminds me of the people who win the lottery but their life falls apart afterwards,” Burker wrote on the “American Idol” fan website Rickey.org. “So many highs and lows in Tasia’s life. I’m rooting for ya babe!” Bfashion58 also expressed support for the troubled “Idol” champ. “My prayers are with Fantasia and her family,” the poster wrote. “What don’t break you will only make you stronger.” “Hope you’ll get better soon Fantasia!! I miss you!!” Chuckgirl2008 wrote on MTV.com. “UR n my prayers Tasia, keep ur head up!!!” Reginald Ready said. Many fans have sent Barrino well-wishes, but the singer has also been the subject of much viral vitriol. Numerous online commenters have blasted Barrino’s suicide attempt as a “selfish” move that would have left her daughter without a mom. “I’m sorry, but trying to commit suicide when you are a mother is probably the most selfish thing a person can do,” Max wrote on the Clutch magazine website. “I do not feel sorry for her, I feel sorry for her daughter.” “I’m sorry but I can not feel bad for Fantasia,” an anonymous poster declared on TheYBF.com. “The thought of her taking her life and leaving her DAUGHTER parent-less over some man is very selfish to [me].” Several fans have referenced Barrino’s reported relationship with a married man as the cause of her alleged suicide attempt. The singer was named in court documents filed last week by Paula Cook, the wife of Barrino’s supposed boyfriend Antwaun, charging that the two started a “covert adulterous affair” last August. The documents also allege that the duo filmed a sex tape, which precipitated the collapse of the marriage. “I find it hard to feel bad for her bc I believe she knew what she was doing,” another TheYBF anonymous poster wrote. “Not to sound heartless, but even if she didn’t know he was married [I’m] sure she found out along the way.” “As a married woman, it is tough to feel sorry for women like this,” Clutch Mag Online poster Maria wrote. “As a celebrity she needs to think twice before doing anything that could ruin her career. Plus why go after a married man when there are so many single men out there to choose from?” “Fantasia is a sorry excuse for a [woman],” another anonymous poster typed on TheYBF. “She got caught and now she’s trying to dig her way out and I have no remorse for her.” Barrino’s drug overdose was just the latest incident in a life that has been marked by incredible highs and devastating lows. The singer overcame sexual abuse, teen pregnancy and illiteracy to take the “American Idol” crown in 2004. Barrino went on to release the platinum debut Free Yourself and starred in Broadway’s “The Color Purple.” However, the star reportedly skipped more than 50 “Color Purple” performances, and one of Barrino’s homes went into foreclosure in 2008. Yet, in 2010, Barrino appeared to be enjoying a return to the spotlight with the hit VH1 show “Fantasia for Real.” She also recently dropped the single “Bittersweet.” Fantasia fans remain split over her recent issues, however. Some commenters, such as Itgirlstyle, insist that the public should have sympathy despite Barrino’s celebrity. “Nobody is perfect, and we have all have made mistakes/choices we aren’t proud of. The difference is, when celebrities make mistakes, it’s broadcast to the world and all of a sudden everybody is perfect and feel they have the right to judge and condemn,” the commenter wrote on Clutch. “Hold your head up, Tasia.” Share your well-wishes for Fantasia and her family in the comments below. What Does ‘Lost’ ‘s Hurley Think Of Weezer’s Hurley? We Asked Him!

‘It’s extremely special … that this is actually happening,’ Jorge Garcia says of being face and inspiration for band’s new album. By James Montgomery The cover of Weezer’s Hurley Photo: Epitaph Most folks probably know Jorge Garcia as Hugo “Hurley” Reyes, the loveably scruffy character he portrayed for six seasons on “Lost.” But earlier this week, Garcia’s name was thrust back into the spotlight again when it was revealed that he was the cover star of — and apparent inspiration for — Weezer’s upcoming Hurley album . But according to Garcia, none of this should really come as a surprise. After all, he’s been a music-industry vet for years now. “I used to work at this store called Music Plus in San Clemente, California, when I was growing up, and then they became Blockbuster Music, and, like, you had to get a haircut to work there, and at the time I had some pretty long hair. So after that policy was imposed, I knew that was going to be my last summer working there,” Garcia told MTV News on Wednesday (August 11). “And then a little later, I worked in the music department of Borders, selling CDs there. So I remember the boxes of CDs coming … and I remember in the morning, setting up the ‘new release’ endcaps and having to put a bunch of copies on there and making sure they were properly stickered and all that.” And although you’d think that kind of retail experience would’ve made him a natural to grace an album cover one day, Weezer were actually the first band to come calling. And, yes, Garcia finds the entire thing just as weird as you do. “I went to do the George Lopez show [‘Lopez Tonight’], and I think they were doing two or three shows that night, and [Weezer frontman] Rivers [Cuomo] was a guest in the previous show. So they came and knocked on my door and said, ‘Hi,’ and wanted to get a picture with me, and I thought that was awesome. We chatted briefly, and that was it,” he said. “And I didn’t hear until a couple months later that they wanted to put me on the cover … I didn’t realize it was just going to be that same picture we took together, cropped down to my face. When I look at the picture, I notice that there’s something going on with my hair, like it’s starting to come loose or something. But I’m happy with it.” Garcia, who cites Bon Iver, M. Ward and the New Pornographers as some of his favorite acts, said he’s always been a casual fan of the Weezer (“I don’t recognize Maladroit so much,” he laughed) and added that being featured on the cover of Hurley is one of the biggest honors he’s received in his career. “This is really close to the top, for sure,” he said. “I think the [‘Lost’] action figure still kind of trumps it, but just coming from where I come from, it’s extremely special and dear to my heart that this is actually happening.” While Garcia will make an appearance in stores on August 24 when the sixth season of “Lost” is released on DVD, he’s really looking forward to September 14, when Hurley is due. Though, given his previous retail experience, he’s already dreading what might happen. “Sometimes when we were pricing CDs, we’d just put the stickers all over the place, until we got the instructions we had to put them in a certain place,” he said. “So I’m sure there will be some people that take advantage of having such an easy target to do whatever sticker graffiti they want to.” What do you think of Weezer paying tribute to Jorge’s “Lost” character?
