Jessica Simpson is pregnant, according to In Touch ! Eric Johnson totes probably knocked her up! Jessica recently attended Eric’s 32nd birthday party, where she sent back her glass of champagne for a birthday toast. Turns out they had something even bigger to celebrate. A source close to the 31-year-old singer and her fiance says they are expecting their first child. Jess has sorta looked pregnant for a while. Now she actually is! “She’s already having kooky cravings!” a friend shares, especially nacho chips dipped in chocolate, “which satisfy her urge for salty and sweet.” Nice. Despite the fact that there’s one more “guest” (and that “Jessica might have to take out her dress a bit”), their plans to marry haven’t changed … although they reportedly put the wedding on hold “indefinitely.” Wonder why. While not everyone would consider the timing ideal, the pair considers the baby to be “the best wedding gift ever.” Jess is reportedly due in the spring. Congrats again if it’s true, which seems fairly likely!
Betsey Johnson, Charlotte Ronson, Rebecca Minkoff and Tracy Reese present MTV News’ favorite Spring 2012 collections. By Christina Garibaldi Nicki Minaj Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/ WireImage New York Fashion Week is officially a wrap! Designers, models and fashionistas gathered around Lincoln Center in NYC to get a front-row seat to all the hottest looks for the Spring 2012 season. MTV News was there to give you a backstage pass to all the top designers and fill you in on all the latest trends. Here are the highlights: Betsey Johnson Betsey Johnson doesn’t just put on a runway show — she throws a party. The 69-year-old pint-sized fashionista folded all of her well-known looks — leopard, sequins, ruffles and lace — and came out with a line that was funky, bright and inspired. So, where did Johnson get her inspiration? From Nicki Minaj , of course! “I was watching Nicki Minaj and my daughter Lulu, and I’m thinking, ‘They are the body type,’ ” Betsey said of making the looks for her spring line. “I love [Nicki], and she really wears my stuff. She likes real tight. She’s just my most, most, most favorite girl right now.” Minaj, who was sitting front row in a tutu and blue cotton-candy hair, was in awe that her fashion icon is such a fan. “She’s a free spirit,” Nicki said of Betsey. “When I met her the other day, I felt like I knew her for my whole life. She’s so warm and considerate and caring. She’s amazingly talented, and I’ve been wearing her clothes forever, so to meet her was like, ‘Yay!’ I was bowing down to her. She’s dope!” Charlotte Ronson Charlotte Ronson kicked off our week with a retro feel, bringing us back to the ’70s with her Boho flare. Ronson’s ready-to-wear looks were inspired by the Victorian era, but of course, she added her signature grunge style to complete her collection. “It actually first started off being more Victorian: lots of light, sheer dresses and covered buttons and high necklines,” Ronson said of the inspiration behind her spring line. “It always falls into more of a Boho, ’70s feel, but then each season, we also add a little more grunge factor, and that comes in more with button-downs and pajama pants and patchwork denim and the crop tops and things like that.” Celebrity attendees included Kelly Osbourne, Whitney Port, Nicky Hilton and, as usual, Charlotte’s sister, Samantha Ronson, was on hand DJing the event. Tracy Reese Designer Tracy Reese’s Spring 2012 line was bursting at the seams with bright colors, flowy dresses and floral prints, making this line perfect for the everyday woman. “I wanted to do something very romantic, an ode to spring,” Reese said. “The clothes are very romantic, but very useful, very wearable. A lot of great color: brights, hot pinks, neons, beautiful blues — but the whole range from a sweet misty blue to a dark, strong peacock — pops of yellow and pretty neutrals to balance the whole thing out.” Rebecca Minkoff Rebecca Minkoff has made a name for herself designing purses that we constantly see used by A-list celebrities including Vanessa Hudgens, Blake Lively and Fashion Week front-row attendee Michelle Trachtenberg. “Her clothes make up half of my closet,” Trachtenberg told us on the runway. “[Her line] looks beautiful. You can literally walk it off the runway.” Minkoff’s spring line showed a collection of day-to-night outfits, complete with neons, beachwear and rocker-chic blazers. “What I love about this collection: It’s full of texture, really great color, a lot of brights — just happy spring,” Minkoff told us backstage. “I really concentrated on color, texture and just a little bit of sexy with an edge.” For complete coverage of New York Fashion Week , visit MTV Style. New York Fashion Week is coming to a close, but we’re still catching up with celebs left and right. We got the chance to speak with Angela Simmons about her goth-inspired get-up backstage at the Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2012 show. What was your inspiration for tonight’s outfit? It was just all about these shoes. We’ve seen “Jesus pieces,” but I’ve never seen a crucifix-detailed clutch. How did you choose that? It’s “Our Lord and Savior”! You’re rocking a serious dark lip tonight, who made that? This is Nars. It’s actually a lip pencil. It’s their “Velvet Matte Lip Pencil” in Train Bleu. Who is your style icon? I really look up to Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs & Tom Ford, designers that have successful innovative lines. And Rachel Roy! She’s amazing. I’ve really been watching her, she’s like a mentor to me. What’s the best advice she’s given you? So many things, but basically she told me something like this: the more you learn, the less you know. There’s always something to learn no matter where you’re at. It’s constant. What’s new with Pastry? We’re always expanding Pastry. We have the Varsity Collection out right now and it’s doing really well! We also caught up with Angela at the Charlotte Ronson runway show! At Fashion Week, Nicki tells MTV News she was ‘bowing down to’ designer whose spring 2012 collection is inspired by the MC. By Christina Garibaldi Betsey Johnson and Nicki Minaj Photo: John Parra/ WireImage Nicki Minaj , no stranger to outlandish fashion, was right at home when she hit up the Betsey Johnson show at New York Fashion Week on Monday. In addition to taking in spring 2012 shows like Carolina Herrera , Nicki sat front-row for her personal favorite designer, Betsey Johnson . Dressed in a colorful tutu and sporting blue cotton candy-like hair, Minaj took in the runway scene, which included sequined mini-dresses, floral prints and, of course, a whole lot of leopard. MTV News caught up with the rapper just moments before the show began and she told us what it was like to meet her fashion icon. “She’s a free spirit,” Minaj said of Johnson. “When I met her the other day, I felt like I knew her for my whole life. She’s so warm and considerate and caring. She’s amazingly talented and I’ve been wearing her clothes forever, so to meet her was like, ‘Yay!’ [I was] bowing down to her; she’s dope!” The affection was mutual. Backstage at Johnson’s show — which featured a DJ, cupcakes, balloons and posters of Minaj with Johnson’s face on them — the designer revealed that this line couldn’t have been created without the hip-hop star. “I was watching Nicki Minaj and my daughter Lulu, and I’m thinking, ‘They are the body type,’ ” Johnson said of making the looks for her spring line. “I love [Nicki] and she really wears my stuff. She likes real tight; she’s just my most, most, most favorite girl right now.” So how does it feel to be Betsey Johnson’s muse? “I just think it’s amazing,” Minaj told us. “I remember I was living in Queens and I couldn’t afford Betsey, so I would, like, window-shop by her store and then I would go to the cheaper places. She had a Nicki Minaj [inspiration] board in her office, and it was so many pictures and wigs and all these things and clippings that she took of me and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh!’ It was so emotional.” For complete coverage of 2011 New York Fashion Week, head on over to MTV Style . ‘Our energy is in the same place,’ Matt tells MTV News of his headlining tourmates on Honda Civic dates. By Vaughn Trudeau Schoonmaker, with additional reporting by Morgan Schwartz Photo: Getty Images Matt and Kim have been recording material at the brand-new Converse Rubber Tracks recording studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. MTV News went there to catch up with the indie/pop duo, and while they mostly kept quiet about any new songs, they did talk to us about their recent Sidewalks Tour as well as their new opening-act gig on the Honda Civic Tour with Blink-182 and My Chemical Romance. The animated Brooklyn-based musicians couldn’t seem to contain their excitement about joining Blink and MCR. “This year has been just a nonstop year,” Matt gushed. “We didn’t want to stop!” Kim said of their headlining Sidewalks Tour. “We wanted to add more dates, we wanted to keep going.” Matt and Kim will begin touring with Blink-182 and My Chemical Romance this month, and they plan to bring it, knowing that some fans at the venues may not be familiar with their music yet. “At our shows, it’s not just like one type of audience member,” Matt explained of the kinds of crowds they’re used to seeing. “It’s people who are into all different kinds of music.” As for playing in front of the fanbases of two different bands on the tour, Matt and Kim aren’t fretting. “Even though musically we might sound a bit different than those two bands, our energy is in the same place,” Matt said, referring to the three groups’ shared love of stage-diving, crowd-surfing and moshing. “There’s a big difference between playing for, you know, 3,000 people at our show to playing to a 20,000-person place, where people might not know any of your songs,” Matt admitted with a smile. “But I feel we play a simple enough music, so upbeat and melody-driven, that on a first listen, people can almost be singing along to the songs by the end.” Fans can catch Matt and Kim on the Honda Civic Tour with Blink-182 and My Chemical Romance beginning September 7 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Ray LaMontagne, Daryl Hall and John Oates, Big Boi and Kendrick Lamar rock Seattle fest over Labor Day weekend. By Matt Elias Wiz Khalifa performs at Bumbershoot on Saturday Photo: Dana Nalbandian/ Getty Images SEATTLE — Nestled in the shadow of the Space Needle, the Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival boasted an eclectic lineup of headliners, with Ray LaMontagne and the Pariah Dogs, Wiz Khalifa , and Daryl Hall and John Oates topping each night of the three-day festival over Labor Day weekend. But it was Wiz who ran away with the biggest draw of the headliners, packing the Seattle Center’s Key Arena to capacity on night two. The Pittsburgh MC took the stage Saturday night and announced, “My name is Wiz Khalifa. Y’all ready to party tonight?” If the haze of smoke wafting from the crowd was any indicator, then his Taylor Gang was definitely in the mood. And it was impossible for them to avoid a good time — Wiz commanded the stage with the swagger of a rock star and his entire set boomed with bone-rattling bass. The inclusion of “The Thrill,” off 2009’s Burn After Rolling mixtape and set to Empire of the Sun’s “Walking on a Dream,” was definitely a plus. While Wiz held it down on the main stage inside the Key Arena, across the park the Kills unleashed their brand of electro-blues on the Fisher Green Stage. The duo’s latest album, Blood Pressures, dropped recently this spring, but the band shared with MTV News that the new material was already taking on a heavier, more aggressive sound. As far as the stage show, singer Alison Mosshart said, “Well we’re playing kind of a typical Kills, you know, if we were playing in a club. We’re gonna do as much of a club show outside as we possibly can.” Guitarist Jamie Hince added, “It’s gonna be nice actually, ’cause we’ll be able to see that — won’t we? — the Space Needle, from the stage. I’m gonna like that.” The Seattle landmark wasn’t the only iconic presence at the festival. Washington natives the Lonely Forest were in awe of the Key Arena, the previous home of their beloved Seattle Supersonics (frontman John Van Deusen even wore a Sonics jersey onstage). Despite their early set on Sunday, the band pulled a considerably large crowd. Lonely Forest guitarist Tony Ruland was thrilled with the turnout. “It was the first time that we played anything that ends in the word ‘arena,’ ” he said, adding that it was the same venue in which he saw one of his favorite acts, Built to Spill. While Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar was tasked with the same set time the following day, his crowd began much smaller, but it grew as his show went on. “Yeah, I was catching them while they were walking in,” Lamar told MTV News later. “They had a crazy response — had a lot of new Kendrick Lamar fans, as well as day-ones in there — so it was like half and half. But that’s when I like to catch ’em, you know, when they’re early, so I can make them a believer as soon as they walk in. That’s my whole thing, catching them one at a time and building from that.” OutKast’s Big Boi followed Lamar’s set and ripped into a medley of classic hits that included “ATLiens,” “Rosa Parks,” and “So Fresh, So Clean.” Daddy Fat Sax had the large crowd inside the Key Arena moving with him, as they sang along to the duo’s deep catalog. It was barely noticeably that his counterpart, Andre 3000, was absent from the stage. Sir Lucious Leftfoot even threw in Queen’s “We Will Rock You,” no doubt in honor of late frontman Freddie Mercury’s 65th birthday on Monday. Local acts Brite Futures and Macklemore proved to be the hometown heroes at Bumbershoot, each delivering impressive performances over the weekend. Related Artists Wiz Khalifa The Kills

In a new interview with Univision, former boxer Oscar De La Hoya has opened up about the depth of his personal issues, which culminated this spring in a trip to rehab . “Rock bottom was recently,” De La Hoya said, according to an English-language transcript provided by the network. “Within couple of years, just thinking if my life was even worth it. I don’t have the strength, I don’t have the courage to take my own life but I was thinking about it.” De La Hoya says he’s been sober for three months and admits, yes, he was unfaithful to his wife. However: “We are obviously not talking a Tiger Woods here.” Known as The Golden Boy during his time in the ring, De La Hoya retired in 2009 after a 16-year career and 10 world titles. He’s worked as a promoter in the sport since. “There were drugs, my drug of choice was cocaine and alcohol. Cocaine was recent. The last 2 years, last 2 1/2 years and I depended more in the alcohol than the cocaine,” De La Hoya said. “It took me to a place where I felt safe, it took me to a place where I felt as if nobody can say anything to me, it took me to a place where I just can reach out and grab my mom.” The athlete says he’s joined Alcoholic Anonymous.
