Will Ferrell Announces ‘Anchorman 2’

‘It is official, there will be a sequel to ‘Anchorman,'” says Will Ferrell. By Gil Kaufman Will Ferrell Photo: Getty Images Ferrell, appearing as leisure-suit wearing newsman Ron Burgundy, broke the news while making a surprise appearance on the “Conan” show that thrilled the audience. Taking the stage in a, yes, burgundy colored suit and wide, striped tie, Ferrell/Burgundy, ripped off a wicked flute solo, then explained to host Conan O’Brien, “I like to keep my chops up, jam with the cats here … smoke a little tea afterwards, see if a little backstage Judy ends up on my lap.” After complimenting the host on his broadcasting skills, Burgundy shared one small criticism with O’Brien. “You look awful,” he said. “You look like someone put a bright red fright wig on a skeleton and chucked it out of a helicopter.” But Burgundy wasn’t just there to play the flute and insult his host, he also had an exciting bit of news. “I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas,” he said. “To my friends, in Spain, Turkey and the U.K., including England … as of 0900 Mountain Time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel for ‘Anchorman.’ It is official, there will be a sequel to ‘Anchorman.'” And with that, Burgundy played himself off the stage with a second wicked flute solo. Back in early 2010, “Anchorman” director and co-writer Adam McKay
told MTV News that he expected much of the first movie’s cast to come along for the sequel, including Steve Carell and Paul Rudd, as well as Christina Applegate, David Koechner Chris Parnell and Fred Willard. “We had an idea and we contacted Steve and Paul and Koechner and Christina and checked in with everyone and they were all game for it,” McKay said at the time. “It’s a tricky movie because everyone went and did really well after it, so everyone’s prices went up and everyone’s time got a little more valuable. But at the same time, graciously, Steve and Paul and everyone agreed to cut their price to come and do it, which you don’t see very often in Hollywood — and cut their price substantially .” The original grossed more than $91 million worldwide. Ferrell and McKay will once again co-write for the sequel and McKay will direct again, with production slated to begin at the end of this year for a 2013 release. David Guetta Brings Rousing Set To Ultra Music Festival

Afrojack, Steve Aoki, Lil Jon, Benny Benassi join Guetta onstage on Miami fest’s final day. By Akshay Bhansali David Guetta and Afrojack at Ultra Music Fest Photo: Getty Images MIAMI — Trance and electro house music reigned supreme at the final day of Ultra Music Festival, closing out the annual three-day dance music mega-fest that saw more than 200,000 people walk through the gates at Miami’s Bayfront Park. Sunday, Carl Cox handed over the Cocoon’s “mega-structure” stage to Dutch trance-music icon Armin van Buuren , who continued his globe-spanning celebration of the 550th episode of his “A State of Trance” radio show, streaming epic, dazzling sets of some of his larger-than-life trance-music friends. Gareth Emery, ATB, Ferry Corsten, Tritonal, and Sander van Doorn were but some of the big stars who had fans packing Cocoon right up to the stage’s back gates. Earlier in the day, 2012 MTV Woodies closing act Steve Aoki set the Ultra Main Stage ablaze with his driving electro-metal house show, and a few of his recent Wonderland album collaborators helped him celebrate the occasion. Lil Jon launched the set into overdrive early, joining Aoki for “Turbulence” and more, and singers Polina, and Alyssa Palmer all hit the stage to perform alongside Aoki. Before ending his set with an inflatable boat ride across a sea of tens of thousands of fans, as he traditionally does, Aoki caked two lucky fans in the front row of the audience — with dexterity, we’d like to add, right in the face from more than seemingly 15 feet away. Sunday night marked the UMF return of dance-music king , certainly the biggest crossover brand in EDM. While one might assume that after a throttling set by Knife Party followed by excellent performances by Kaskade and Fedde Le Grand, fans might have been a bit fatigued by then. If they were, they didn’t show it. “Can I hear my party people?” Guetta asked as he took the stage. The audience roared back as he launched into Alesso’s remix of Guetta’s “Titanium.” Notably, after the French superstar began a mix of little broski Afrojack’s “Can’t Stop Me Now,” Afrojack, Lil Jon, Aoki and Italian DJ/producer (and Madonna MDNA collaborator) Benny Benassi all joined their friend onstage, causing pandemonium. They posed for a group photo for the history books, and the set continued, only with the volume lower. “Every time I play a track at Ultra, it brings me luck!” Guetta told the audience. “And I’m going to start a new electronic label, and this is the first track on the label. “It’s with Nicky Romero , and it’s called ‘Metropolis,’ ” Guetta continued, before pumping the volume back up and letting the audience take in the electro-house banger that both he and Romero have been previewing in their sets recently. Throughout his set, Guetta maintained a bouncing tide of tens of thousands of screaming fans with his typical ease. There were a couple of new stadium house tracks in addition to known crowd-pleasers like Swedish House Mafia’s “Greyhound,” with the addition of Example’s “Changed the Way You Kissed Me” vocal, and Avicii’s “Le7els,” with Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” vocal. Before ending his set with a remix of “Turn Me On,” his single with Nicki Minaj , and finally “Without You,” his Usher hit, Guetta turned down the volume again and asked folks to take out their cell phones. As a sea of small lit-up screens formed around the UMF Main Stage, he made a remark that would underscore just how big the Ultra Music Festival and electronic dance music are in 2012. “Wow! Thousands and thousands and thousands of people partying together feeling like one,” Guetta remarked. “Do you realize what’s going on in America? How our music is taking over? “I never imagined that one day this would happen,” he added. “But this is only the beginning, right?” Share your Miami Music Week exploits with us in the comments section! Rick Ross Gives Final Surprise Performance At SXSW

Miami rapper brings down the FADER FORT with his biggest hits and new Rich Forever mixtape singles. By Nadeska Alexis Rick Ross Photo: Roger Kisby/ Getty Images Considering the star power that had already passed through Austin, Texas beginning with Jay-Z’s Monday night performance , it was only fitting that Rick Ross would make a surprise appearance at SXSW to wrap up the week’s festivities. The FADER FORT was packed to the brim all week, hosting acts like Kendrick Lamar, The-Dream and 2 Chainz, but the “TBD” spot for their closing set on Saturday night was the subject of much speculation. Jay-Z, Kanye West , Lil Wayne , 50 Cent and Eminem had all shown up earlier in the week, so it was reasonable to assume that hip-hop’s reigning titan would also get in on the action. Memphis Tennessee rapper, Gangsta Boo, opened up Fader’s last set of the festival performing old hits, new singles and her verse on the Eminem-featured Yelawolf single “Throw It Up” before passing the mic off to Maybach Music Group rapper Stalley. The Ohio native dipped into his mixtape Lincoln Way Nights (Intelligent Trunk Music then performed the Chad Hugo-produced single “Everything New,” from his upcoming project Savage Journey to the American Dream before exiting. Stalley had only left the stage for a few minutes when Ross showed up, launching right into bangers like “I’m Not A Star,” after being introduced to the crowd as ” the Hottest MC in the Game. ” At this point, the Miami rapper has no shortage of hits and the crowd received every new track, including “Hustlin'” and his verse on “I’m On One,” with enthusiasm. Solange Knowles hung in the VIP area dancing and singing-a-long to songs like “Aston Martin Music,” which Ross so kindly dedicated to all of the women in the house. Ross summoned Stalley back to the stage to perform his Rich Forever cut “Party Heart,” but perhaps the most triumphant moment of the set came during the introduction to the mixtape’s title track. “My success was not overnight,” he told the crowd. “MMG started as a dream, MMG started in a basement. It took me over a decade to get where I’m standing now.” For music lovers in the crowd who weren’t Ross aficionados, the Bawse did his best to translate the overarching message in his music. “I want ya’ll to know that dreams come true,” he told the crowd before closing set. “Every boss in the game started as a m—–f—–‘ worker, so build it from the ground up, do it self made, and be rich forever.” Related Videos South by Southwest 2012 Related Photos SXSW 2012

50 Cent and Eminem Join Forces At SXSW

50 Cent performs his 2003 album “Get Rich or Die Tryin'” with some help from Marshall Mathers. By Nadeska Alexis 50 Cent and Eminem perform March 16 Photo: Sam Hendrick/ MTV News 50 Cent made a rare appearance in Austin, Texas on Friday night to perform his classic 2003 album Get Rich or Die Tryin’ in its entirety, and fans who were hoping for that rumored Eminem performance were not the least bit disappointed. The opening lineup at the SXSW Shady 2.0 Showcase included 50 Cent’s new G-Unit artists Paris and Kidd Kidd, plus Action Bronson, Black Hippy’s Schoolboy Q, Don Trip and Big K.R.I.T. Yelawolf was forced to cancel his appearance due to an injury but his fellow Shady Records signees, Slaughterhouse, took the stage before Fif dishing out freestyles, in addition to singles like “Hammer Dance” from their upcoming album welcome to: Our House . 50 Cent hit the stage shortly after 11pm, launching into “What Up Gangsta?” decked out in an appropriately nostalgic outfit–a camouflage bullet-proof best and Yankees cap. Throughout the week there had been whispers of an Eminem guest appearance during Fif’s set, and Marshall Mathers confirmed those rumors on the second song of the night. Fifty rolled right into “Patiently Waiting,” spitting his first verse and within seconds Em burst onto the stage, delivering the hook and his verse, casually decked out in jeans a baseball cap and his signature hoodie. At times, Fif’s commentary during the show was just as entertaining as the actual songs. “It’s been 10 years. That album sold 13 million copies,” he told the crowd, marveling at the success of Get Rich or Die Tryin.’ “The money came so fast, I couldn’t f— it up,” he added, getting some laughs from the crowd. “I was trying everything I could think of.” Tony Yayo hung by Fif’s side as the crowd continued to go wild for tracks like “Many Men,” and “In Da Club.” And although the Queens rapper was in great spirits, he still managed to get in a bit of a rant, taking aim at some of his critics. “I guess it’s not what have I done, but what have I done for you lately, is that right?” he said, the annoyance evident on his face. Still, Fif treated fans to a few more songs, including an encore performance and a freestyle over Eminem’s “Till I Collapse,” which commanded another Shady appearance on stage. “Wanksta” was the closing number of the night, and though fans stayed put, expectantly, for another few minutes, that was it folks. Lil Wayne Brings His YMCMB Family To SXSW

Mystikal, Birdman, Cory Gunz and others help Weezy kick off his Mountain Dew partnership in Austin. By Nadeska Alexis Lil Wayne performs at SXSW on Thursday Photo: Hutton Supancic/ Getty Images YMCMB. Trukfit. DeWeezy. And repeat. When Lil Wayne took over the Austin Music Hall for his SXSW show in Texas on Thursday night, the rapper-turned-skateboarder had the venue draped in banners upon banners, shouting out his team, his new clothing line and his new partnership with Mountain Dew. Earlier in the day, Wayne invited his pro skateboard friends — including Paul Rodriguez and Theotis Beasley — to get their grind on on the top floor of the venue while the Mountain Dew-sponsored show was being prepped. By showtime later that night, the boys were all freshly prepped for their closing appearance at the concert. (For photos from the concert, click here.) And while Wayne saved his skateboard family to wrap the night, his YMCMB family members came out to open the show and made brief appearances throughout his set. U.K. singer Jay Sean hit the stage early, along with Lil Chuckee and recent Cash Money signee Mystikal, who gave the crowd a taste of his hits including “Here I Go” and “Shake Ya Ass.” Wayne finally hit the stage around 12:30 a.m., decked out in his Trukfit gear, with skateboard in hand, bringing a burst of energy for fans who’d already started a few “Weezy” chants in anticipation of his performance. He kicked things off with “I’m Goin’ In,” and “A Milli,” with head banging and dreads flying everywhere. During his one-hour set, Wayne gave the crowd some words of inspiration on falling and getting back up. “Life is like skateboarding,” he said. He later dropped another one-liner, “It’s not what you do, it’s how you do it,” admitting to the crowd that they’d just participated in a commercial shoot for his new DeWeezy campaign with Mountain Dew. With that out of the way, there were still plenty of hits left to go around, including “She Will” and “Blunt Blowin’,” plus a few more guest appearances. Drake, Nicki Minaj and Tyga were all noticeably absent from the show, but after giving them a shout-out, Wayne brought out a few more YMCMB members including Shanell, Bow Wow, Gudda Gudda, Mack Maine and Birdman, who performed his single “Y.U. Mad.” Despite Drake’s absence, Wayne delivered his verse on “The Motto” and saved Tha Carter IV single “6 Foot, 7 Foot” for the finale. Maybe the most surprising cameo of the night came from rapper Cory Gunz, who was recently arrested for gun possession. The young Gunz joined Wayne and his crew of pro skateboarders onstage to assist on the track before calling it a night.
