Amanda Bynes’ DUI arrest Friday has left those close to her scratching their heads. Yesterday, her dad denied she was drunk during the incident, in which she side-swiped a cop and ended up in jail on suspicion of DUI. Now friends are weighing in. “This DUI was definitely just a serious lapse in judgment,” a friend tells People . “She hit a wall personally and professionally [in ’08]. I think she’s been a little lost since.” Another source, who calls Bynes “a very sweet girl,” says, “[She] was raised in the industry, so she has kind of a twisted head space in terms of social groups.” But according to the 26-year-old’s father, Rick Bynes, his daughter doesn’t drink. He tells PEOPLE she was held in jail because “she was upset and very emotional.” Another source says Bynes “seemed fine to drive” when she left the Standard Hotel in W. Hollywood, where she is a regular and had dinner Thursday before her arrest. She had alcohol, but “never seemed drunk,” the source says. Bynes then went to Greystone Manor (where she’s also a regular), and was arrested after leaving there. After being released from jail, she went back to party again. Adds the source: “Bynes tried to come back to party [at the Standard] only hours after she was released from her DUI arrest,” but she is no longer welcome. Probably for the best. The “Easy A” and “She’s the Man” actress has not yet released a statement on the incident, but Bynes’ father recently told People magazine that his daughter was not intoxicated at the time of her arrest. “She was not drunk,” Rick Bynes told the mag. “I was told that she blew a zero on the Breathalyzer. She didn’t have a single drink that night. My daughter doesn’t drink.” Poppa Bynes went on to say that the police officer who arrested his daughter was at fault because he pulled out in front of her as she was turning. He blamed the actress’ seemingly intoxicated behavior on her being “upset and very emotional” in getting arrested. According to TMZ , Bynes’ emotional state wasn’t so compromised that she couldn’t resume partying that same night. The site claims the actress and a few of her friends attempted to return to the bar at the Standard Hotel in Hollywood just hours after her arrest but were denied re-entrance by hotel staff. Bynes was given a citation and released from police custody on $5,000 bail. She will have to report to court when a hearing date is set. A few months before the release of “Easy A” in 2010, Bynes declared on Twitter that she didn’t enjoy performing anymore and planned to retire from acting. Her retirement lasted all of 35 days, as she tweeted in late July of 2010 that she was “unretired.” Amanda’s dad cited his daughter’s break from acting as the reason the tabloids go after her. “She is a good girl,” Rick Bynes told People. “She just chooses not to work, and because of that, people go after her.”

This one sounds interesting: Chelsea Handler lived up to her party-girl reputation at a summer bash for her hotelier boyfriend, Andre Balazs, when she was escorted out of the men’s bathroom at the Frying Pan by bar security. Handler attended the party for Standard Hotel employees on the restored boat in the Hudson River, docked north of Chelsea Piers, with Balazs on Monday. But sources at the event say a bouncer caught her and “a dude with gold shoes” in a stall in the men’s bathroom and ushered them both out. A spy said Handler started her night out with vodka on the rocks and was “totally cool and unassuming.” But things apparently got wilder later in the evening. Balazs, who has also been linked to Uma Thurman, Renée Zellweger and Naomi Campbell, has a thing for bad girls, and romanced rocker Courtney Love before hooking up with Handler. Handler’s rep, Stephen Huvane, who initially denied that Handler attended the Balazs party even though she was pictured there, said, “She was at the employee party but not at the Standard. When it comes to sisterhood, it’s safe to say the loyalty factor plays a bit more of a bigger role in our bond. There are rules that simply have absolutely NO exceptions to them, they cannot be broken, fractured or even sprained–only severed. Not only that, but there is little to no room for flexibility in bending the rules a even a little. Absolutely not, my friend. The difference between brotherhood and sisterhood is simple: Bros before hoes. Meaning, guys could fall out over a woman, duke it out and still be on for drinks at ‘Nipsy’s’ on Friday night. If you still are having difficulty understanding this, say man X dates girl H. Girl H sleeps with man X’s best friend, hmmm, let’s call him man G. Man X finds out about this, he’s mad–fuming even. He confronts the two involved, and long story short man X drops girl H, fights man G and go on to play ball in Rucker’s Park with the fellas around 9 o’clock that night. Problem solved, bros before hoes. No garden tool will ever come between a man and his brotherhood. It just won’t happen. This situation would play out a LOT different if it were reversed. Ladies, we know how we are–a*s backwards. We’d never have a bond like that, I don’t care if you were my blood. It sucks but ladies we all know, if your girlfriend even fixed her lips to compliment your man, she’d get the automatic side eye and raised brows would be most definitely be abundant. One of the biggest rules to sisterhood is to NEVER mess with your girlfriend’s man. Ever. It’s the golden rule amongst sistas. Period. It doesn’t matter if you were friends at the time but fell out, or if the two of you haven’t spoken in years. You and your girlfriend’s man need not have any dealings unless it pertains to you, and even that is sometimes too close for comfort; and if you had any previous knowledge that a relationship existed between your friend and said man, you run the risk of losing a friendship, a scarlet letter on your reputation and a first class ticket to get that butt deer dropped (Y’aint know? To tell you the truth, I feel like it’s pretty sad that women put such limits on bonds like our sisterhood yet at the same time, I know If any one of my girls tried to pull the robbery on me I’d be the first one ready, willing and able to stone her behind. I know women hinder ourselves from a stronger sisterhood but the fact of the matter is, friendships are all about trust and loyalty. Can I trust you to have my back and be there for me without an unbiased opinion or an ulterior motive? Can I trust you to be the minority of people in my life to be loyal enough to not through a dagger in my back in an attempt to get ahead in the race that we call life? Will women ever establish a truly unbreakable bond? Who knows, all I can say for now is don’t go against the grain and stay away from your girlfriend’s man! Also, it should be noted that, not only should the friend be dropped, but your man also (if you were still together). Nothing is worse than a woman only holding the other woman accountable for stealing her man when we all know it takes two to tango!
