At halftime of Sunday’s Celtics/Knicks game, ABC relayed a shot of Miami Heat stars James and Dwyane Wade entering the Staples Center to do battle with the L.A. Lakers. Wade was “the personification of sexual chocolate” according to one blogger, in a muscle shirt, while LeBron … carried what appeared to be a stylish man purse / toiletry bag: LeBron James Carrying Purse The reactions to this will, undoubtedly, be split into two camps: Ryan Seacrest, David Beckham, Kanye West and Tom Haverford from Parks and Recreation , who will declare it “dope” and scramble to find out the designer. Looks like being a reality tv and Twitter freak has paid off for “Basketball Wives of L.A.” cast member Imani Showalter. According to HipHollywood reports : “Basketball Wives LA” star Imani Showalter has finally begun dating again. Showalter is the ex-fiancé of NBA star Stephen Jackson, whom she has three children with, and was quite vocal on season one about not having dated since the couple split. Things changed last fall when Showalter met Grammy-nominated gospel singer Marvin Sapp, who also pastors the Lighthouse Full Life Center Church in Grand Rapid, Michigan. Sapp was in Los Angeles judging Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound choir competition on Oct. 28 at the Staples Center and Showalter was introduced to him before the show. “The two exchanged information and immediately started corresponding after the show. A week or so later Marvin flew her to Grand Rapids to visit him and so she could experience his church,” said a source. The couple has been nearly inseparable since Showalter’s first visit, with Sapp flying Showalter out on various concert dates and preaching engagements. She traveled with the 44-year-old preacher to Chicago for a concert at New Life Covenant Church in late December. She was also by his side when he co-hosted the Stellar Gospel Awards in Nashville over Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend. “They’ve been spending quite a bit of time together. They’re definitely falling in love and I wouldn’t be surprised if they ended up getting married,” the source added. Sapp is a father of three and a widower. His ex-wife Malinda died of colon cancer in 2010. While members of Sapp’s church were originally fine with their pastor dating the TV star, they recently became alarmed when Showalter tweeted photos of herself in a bikini to show off her recent weight loss on Twitter via @IamMelissaImani. “If she seriously wants to be with him and plans to become the First Lady of his church, the last thing she needs to be doing is tweeting risqué photos of herself,” the source concluded. “That’s just a big no-no!” Them church folk better back up offa Imani and her new bawwwwdy– don’t they know God don’t like ugly? Chris Brown returned to the Grammy Awards for the first time in three years Sunday night, notching a win for Best R&B album and putting on a spirited live performance. Three years after assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna on the eve of the Grammys, Brown (who was convicted of felony assault) took that Staples Center stage. Part live clip, part kaleidoscopic freakout, the ‘Paris’ video more than matches the song’s massive impact. By James Montgomery Kanye West and Jay-Z in the music video for “N—as in Paris” Photo: Roc-A-Fella Records After the premiere of Kanye West and Jay-Z ‘s new “N—as in Paris” video — which bowed Thursday (February 9) on MTV.com — someone joked that I needed to watch it 13 times in a row to best approximate the experience of the dynamic duo’s Watch the Throne tour. And it’s true, Kanye and Jay did play “Paris” a whole lot during their trek … mostly because the song elicited such a thunderous response from sold-out crowds nationwide . So it’s somewhat fitting that the video (which was directed by West) is equally live … and just as thunderous. Filmed in part during the run of Throne shows at the Staples Center in Los Angeles — additional footage, one can assume, was shot during a casted performance, unless the Staples crowd was 85 percent female models — the clip captures both the loose jocularity of ‘Ye and Jay and the electric energy that coursed through the venue when “Paris” leapt from the speakers (many, many times). West fills the video with eye-catching kaleidoscopic effects, creating dizzying visuals that fold the audience, the stage and everything else in upon themselves, making fractals upon fractals. No wonder the clip is preceded by an epilepsy warning. Check out epic scenes from the “N—as in Paris” video! Given the size and scope of both the song and the artists performing it, the “Paris” video is also loaded with lasers, prowling panthers, pop-up-book cityscapes and the aforementioned models. Shoot, even producer Hit-Boy makes a one-second cameo. It’s a head-spinning, pulse-quickening mixture of imagery and movement, of sight and sound — an experience unlike any other live clip. Oh, and yes, Will Ferrell makes an appearance too, though it’s in the form of a scene from “Blades of Glory” (guess Ferrell wasn’t lying when he told MTV News that plans to feature him in the clip never quite materialized). So truly, there’s something for everyone. If you caught the Throne tour, the “Paris” video is sure to inspire heady flashbacks. If you didn’t, well, here’s what it was like, only pushed to the absolute max. And to further replicate the live feeling, I recommend watching it for roughly the next hour. An apparently topless Rihanna showed off her long blonde hair on Twitter last night. She’s rocked everything from massive red curls to a platinum bob with blunt bangs in the past couple of months. Now, she’s debuted yet another dramatic ‘do. Which really looks good with no shirt: The 23-year-old singer tweeted the pic of herself sporting a long, layered blonde style (and not much else!) along with the following message: “#Back2Work 1st Cover of the year!!! #ELLE,” followed by “Bleach + weave #WERQ.” Later that night she sat courtside at L.A.’s Staples Center to watch the Clippers (bet you didn’t hear THAT three years ago) beat the Nuggets, turning heads with her new locks.
