Source: Christian Petersen / Getty Antonio Brown Will Play Sunday Amid Rape Allegations Antonio Brown ‘s shenanigans in NFL locker rooms and social media are comical now in comparison to the trouble that he now finds himself in. Just a few days ago, Britney Howard came forward to publicly accuse Antonio Brown of rape and other sexual assaults via a federal civil lawsuit. After all the talk that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has done about the league’s responsibility to protect women from their abusive players in the wake of the Ray Rice domestic violence incident, would Antonio Brown be allowed to suit up on Sunday? Yes. Yes he will. According to ESPN, the NFL will not place Brown on the Commissioner’s exempt list and thus will be lining up to catch passes from Tom Brady against the Miami Dolphins Sunday afternoon. In case you hadn’t read them, here are the emails that Antonio is accused of sending outside of the forcible rape that Britney claims he enacted against her. These are the emails Antonio Brown allegedly sent to his accuser in the rape court. pic.twitter.com/hGHEbiY8F6 — Nick Underhill (@nick_underhill) September 11, 2019 Yet and still, Brown will be suited and booted for Belichick and his boys. On Wednesday, Belichick wouldn’t commit to Brown playing, saying the team was taking it “day to day.” Since then, Brown has participated in two practices — with a third to come later Friday — and has impressed his new teammates. “AB is AB. We all know what he brings to the table. Excited to have him here,” safety Duron Harmon said, adding: “He’s doing everything the right way.” Of course, “the right way”…

There was one troubling sight on Jersey Shore: Family Vacation this week… … along with many signs of serious trouble on the horizon. But let’s start with the former, shall we? Let’s start with the roommates heading to Las Vegas to watch Vinny Guadagnino take part in Sin City’s most scandalous male striptease show, Chippendales. Poor Vinny, however, ended up spraining his ankle before his month-long residency could begin — and he was petrified of what the show’s producers might say in response. Thankfully, the “Keto Guido” smiled and joked and charmed their socks off like only he can convincing them he would merely stay off the injured foot until he had to go stage. This meant he was bound to a scooter the entire time. Cue the mockery! Pauly D especially went off on his pal for this mode of transportation, while Vinny mom called her son multiple times to check in on him. “Hi, Vin,” Paula said out of extreme concern when he answered the phone. “How you doin’, honey? Oh my God, Vinny. I wanted to kill myself when I saw you on that scooter. Is it still swollen, Vin? Buy the bags of peas.” “Ma, they have ice packs. I don’t need peas,” Vinny responded. “Well, the peas conform to the ankle, that’s why. I swear to God,” she explained. Rolling his eyes, Vinny said the typical son stuff and hung up the phone, only to have her call back moments later. “Buy the bags of the mixed vegetables, anything,” his mom begged, again quite solemnly. While this was all in good fun, Vinny and Pauly were later legitimately concerned about Ronnie’s ongoing erratic behavior. “I haven’t talked to Ronnie since his daughter’s birthday, and I just assumed everything was good because when he’s quiet on social media, there’s nothing,” Pauly said, adding: “Then I know he was in Cabo right now. “And then all of a sudden, he’s posting erratically again. That’s how I know something’s wrong, I just don’t know what’s wrong. I hope he’s okay.” “Me, too,” Vinny replied. “But our instincts are usually right. I wanna sit here and be like, ‘Oh, it’s fine. He turned his life around.’ But we always say that, and then it gets 10 times worse. And that shit is toxic.” That shit, of course, is Ronnie’s romance with Jen Harley . Speaking in his confessional, Pauly made it clear this wasn’t just for show. He’s sincerely worried. “I keep up with Ronnie on social media. That’s how I know what he’s up to. So I check in once in a while, and check that he’s in Mexico. I’m like, ‘Great, alright, he’s with his friends, having a good time.’ “And then he posts a photo of the baby. I’m like, ‘Alright, he wants to show that he’s missing his baby. That’s fine.’ “Then another baby photo, another baby photo. When he posts this, I know something’s wrong.” To their great, these stars approached Ronnie and asked how he was doing. (He checked into rehab early this year for alcoholism and depression .) They didn’t fear the confronation, but they did grow scared over what he had to say. “Me and Jen are good, bro,” Ron said when Pauly asked how his relationship with Harley was going, continuing as follows: “Yeah, we’re good. We haven’t been fighting. Everything’s been going good lately, you know? “Today’s a good day, and that’s all I can worry about. I just — I been good, bro. Just one day at a time, and that’s really all I can do, bro.” Will Jen be stopping by Vegas any time soon? No, Ronnie retorted. “I have my life with her, and I have my life with you guys. I’m just kind of cleaning up my mess at this point from last year, if you wanna just call it that.” Pauly said he understood, yet the whole conversation was so awkward. He later told the camera he wanted to give Ron “the benefit of the doubt because he’s coming out of rehab. Maybe he’s fine. Maybe they’re good. I don’t know. “Listen, he’s my brother at the end of the day. I wanna see his life flourish! I don’t wanna see it turn into a mess. But the past is the past; he keeps reliving it.” After Ronnie exited, Pauly FaceTimed Vinny to let him know what Ron had said about Jen. “I can feel and sense a Ronpage about to happen,” he said ominously. “But I hope I’m wrong.” Nope, man. You were not totally wrong . View Slideshow: Jersey Shore: Battered Ronnie Lies to Protect Jen Harley AGAIN For Some Reason!
Her bad, you guys. Seriously: her major, major bad. Farrah Abraham just wants to make that as clear as possible… while still spouting her usual nonsense and still sounding anything but truly authentic. On Wednesday — also known as the 18th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks — the former Teen Mom star posted a lengthy video from the site of this horrific tragedy. She was on location in New York City with her daughter, Sophia, telling fans how much they were enjoying (yes, enjoying ) the trip and then, well… she mixed up the date of the attacks with the name of a well-known convenience store chain. “Okay, so we wanted to do, since it’s gonna be September 11, in honor of the Freedom Towers, and observatory deck and everything, of 7-Eleven, we are going to do this. Wow, look at this guys,” says Farrah into the camera down below. She didn’t realize her error at the time and just kept on talking in a VERY excited manner about the whole 9/11 memorial experience. “I think this is gorgeous, beautiful, and in memory of a lot of loved ones, a lot of others lost,” she says in the following video, adding: “I remember being in fifth grade when September 11 attacks happened, Sophia was not born yet, so I think it’s really important that Sophia learns about it, and here we go.” A sweet sentiment at its core, no doubt. But Farrah quickly came under for the 7-Eleven utterance and the entire entire idea of using this national tragedy as the basis for a vlog entry. Farrah Abraham at One World Trade Center: Watch, Cringe Now! Approached today by TMZ about the debacle, Farrah definitely apologized — but she didn’t exactly sound remorsely. “It crushed me,” Farrah told a cameraman from this website on the street, prior to laughing at her own expense. “I don’t even know my name sometimes… it was a raw moment. Sophia definitely enjoyed 9/11, that was the first time I got to go,” she added. Again, just a weird thing to say and a weird say to say it. But this is Farrah Abraham, right? That’s how she always rolls. “I was super tired. I’m very sorry about that,” continueed Farrah in this same interview. She then asked her 10-year old daughter for her thoughts on One World Trade Center, which is where the Twin Towers were formally located. “It was super tall,” the child replied. Farrah proceeded to say that she hopes Sophia gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame someday, and then responded to accusations that maybe she shouldn’t have used 9/11 as a promotional tool for her social media presence and YouTube channel. “This is our daily life and that was part of our life,” she said, concluding: “We’re all human. I’m human, what a shock!” View Slideshow: Farrah Abraham Looks 39 Shades of Effed Up in Disturbing New Video
Source: Icon Sportswire / Getty Well, at least he tried. LeBron James attempt at trademarking his new favorite phrase “Taco Tuesday” was rejected on Wednesday (September 11) by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Unless you been under a rock for the past few months, Bron takes to Instagram to remind us on Tuesday’s that the James Gang enjoys tacos on that particular day of the week. LBJ’s use of “Taco Tuesday” became quite popular among his fans, James definitely noticed hence why he even attempted to trademark it. Unfortunately, his attempt was rejected like one of his chase-down blocks he is famous for on the court. View this post on Instagram #LeBronJames was planning on trademarking the term #TacoTuesday. His application has been denied. The refusal, issued at 6:26 PM today, finds that TACO TUESDAY is a “commonplace message” and therefore fails to function as a trademark. #TacoTuesday A post shared by PMW HIP-HOP OFFICIAL (@pmwhiphop_) on Sep 11, 2019 at 10:27pm PDT According to the patent office, the phrase is “a commonplace term, message or expression widely used by a variety of sources that merely conveys an ordinary, familiar, well-recognized concept or sentiment.” .The patent office cited multiple news articles pointing out how widely used the term is “to express enthusiasm for tacos by promoting and celebrating them on a dedicated weekday.” The patent office also pointed out how similar the phrase is to “Techno Taco Tuesday” that is already trademarked by a company in Las Vegas . They stated, “merely omitting some of the wording from a registered mark may not overcome a likelihood of confusion.” Despite taking an L, James team is looking at the decision in a positive light, basically saying the office gave Bron what he wanted all along. A spokesperson claimed that with the patent office refusing to trademark the phrase, it offered LBJ protection from liability if he used “Taco Tuesday” in other mediums. “If this opens the door for ‘Taco Tuesday’ to be open to everybody, all the better. That would be a great outcome of this. The entire purpose of this is to protect Lebron and subsequently everybody else.” Bron and his team have six months to challenge the patent office’s decision. But, according to Josh Gerben, a lawyer who specializes in trademarks it’s unlikely he will. — Photo: Icon Sportswire / Getty
Source: alvarez / Getty Recently, the National Black Women’s Justice Institute released a list of policy recommendations opposing the criminalization of Black girls. Although Black men and boys are often the center of conversation when it comes to the criminalization of Black people, the current realities for Black girls and women are also grim. NBWJI’s report, entitled “ End School PushOut for Black Girls and Other Girls of Color,” says that according to the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights Data, Black girls in grades K-12 are seven times more likely to be suspended from school and four times more likely to be arrested on school grounds. These statistics reflect studies from a 2015 report called “Black Girls Matter: Pushed Out, Overpoliced And Underprotected.” The report said that data released by the Department of Education for the 2011–2012 school year showed that while Black males were suspended more than three times as often as their White counterparts, Black girls were suspended six times as often. Only 2 percent of White females faced exclusionary suspensions in comparison to 12 percent of Black girls. In 2019, it seems NBWJI is continuing the work of the 2015 report by acknowledging that punitive practices, such as expulsions or in-school arrests, can increase the risk of girls coming in contact with the juvenile and criminal justice system. With women being the fastest growing prison population , even over men, it’s paramount that Black girls be included in the conversation of decriminalizing Black people. NBWJI released a list of federal, state and local policy recommendations to help prevent the criminalization of Black girls. The recommendations are inclusive of other marginalized groups, such as Black LGBTQ+ youth, and they operate on the principle that if Black girls are centered in the conversation, it could lead to policy that decriminalizes all Black youth. On the federal level, recommendations include policies that support pregnant and parenting students in school districts and post-secondary institutions. Instead of discouraging these students from discontinuing their education, NBWJI suggests programs to support the academic success of these students such as access to quality, affordable child care. Another federal recommendation is increased funding for extracurricular activities that fully integrate girls, transgender, gender non-conforming and non-binary youth (TGNC). Finally, on the federal level, the report calls for the protection of immigrant children by eliminating and preventing the presence of Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers on school grounds. On the state level, the report suggests removing all police from schools and disarming school-based personnel. Instead of money going to law enforcement, they suggest directing it to counselors, social workers and restorative justice programming in schools. On the state and local level, the report calls for alternatives to “zero tolerance” processes. Instead of kicking students out of school via suspensions, expulsions or school-based arrests for subjective minor infractions, the report suggests alternatives like harm reduction, mindfulness and again, more restorative practices. The report especially calls for the end to suspensions and expulsions for pre-K and grades K-2 in favor of strategies to address behavioral problems and to support teachers. If you want to learn more about the policy suggestions from NBWJI’s report, you can check it out here . You can expect more discussions in the future as the conversation around Black women and girls continues to grow.
Source: Trinette Reed / Getty When Tina Lewis went to Rose Nails Salon in Houston all she wanted was to be pampered with a much-needed pedicure. Instead, she claims she was met with fatphobia and denied services because of her weight. According to KTRK , Lewis accused the salon of telling her they couldn’t help her because she was “too big” to fit in their pedicure chairs. Lewis was shocked. “She was like, ‘What did she just say?’…I said, ‘Yes, mama, she just said that to me,’” she told the KTRK. “I was like, ‘Can I get a pedicure? And what chair do I sit in?’ And (the employee) was like, the chairs were not big enough for me to sit in. And I was like, ‘Are you serious?’” Marie Bui , an employee of the salon, told the news station that it was not her intention to hurt or offend Lewis. “I said, ‘I’m sorry I cannot serve you because my spa chair is very small,’” she said, adding that a prior customer had damaged a chair because of her weight. Apparently, the salon alleges that they cannot afford to replace these chairs if they continue to get broken. Meanwhile, Lewis ain’t trying to hear that noise. “It was, like, very disrespectful. To me, I felt like it was discrimination.” Lews is also clear: She won’t be going back there again…and honestly, we don’t blame her. This isn’t the first time a woman has spoken out about this type of treatment at a nail salon. Last September, a South Carolina woman claimed that she was turned away from getting her nails done because she weighed 250 pounds, PEOPLE reported . Listen, it’s 2019 and the majority of folks are not a size 6. A recent study found that the average size of women in America is between 16-18. So it’s time for the beauty industry to get with the picture and adapt to reality. Source: Justin Yoast / EyeEm / Getty An extremely disturbing video made its way to the Internet showing a White kid beating a Black boy in the locker room of a Florida middle school. The clip shows the kid holding him down and hitting him repeatedly while other students watch. An adult was nowhere to be found, according to the clip. The mother of the Black kid, Lauren Springfield made a Facebook post about the incident that has since gone viral. “Yesterday, my son was attacked. In a violent, malicious manner while in the school locker room at Blake Academy in Polk County,” she started. “The school nurse called us first and let us know our son was in the nurses office and could not give us any additional information. I immediately left my office and went to the school – not one school administrator contacted me on the way to the school. I got to the school to find a welt on my son’s forehead and back of head, a cut above his eye brow and bruising all around his eye.” Springfield said it wasn’t until she received videos from parents of a high school student that she realized her son was brutally attacked. “You hear the kids not only cursing but encouraging the attack and not stepping in to stop what was happening,” Springfield wrote. She said she asked the school administration how they would respond to the video and according to her, their response was “We can’t tell you.” Springfield went on to say, “This could have ended much differently, our child has one kidney and after getting kneed several times this could have resulted in permanent damage.” Springfield said she went to the courthouse in an attempt to get a restraining order against the kids. However, the judge argued that since the attack allegedly didn’t happen multiple times, Springfield would not be granted the protection for her son. “It only takes one hit for a child to die,” wrote Springfield. “How many more times would you like this to happen to our child or any other child? Throughout the entire attack this little boy laughed and smiled – and you think he won’t do it again?” Springfield also brought attention to the racial aspect of the violence. “I can guarantee you had this been a group of black students on a lone white student we would be having a completely different conversation. I am disheartened, I am tired, scared for my son and completely enraged.” Springfield finished off by saying some policy changes should be made to protect children. One Polk County school board member, Billy Townsend, responded to Springfield’s demands, writing on Facebook : “1) We as a district vastly overinterpret privacy rules so that a victim’s family receives little or no information about how we are protecting/preventing any further harm for their child. So even when a serious investigation is underway, as I believe it is here, the victim’s family doesn’t really perceive it. 2) I do not understand why we would send the child’s family to get a court injunction, rather than provide more robust engagement at the school/district level. Both of these seem like policy issues that we need to address quickly as a School Board.” Eventually, charges were brought against one of the students. The police and the superintendent of Polk County Public Schools held a press conference where they said that students were disciplined “on the school side” while one of the boys was charged with misdemeanor simple battery and has been suspended for 10 days.
