“I Don’t Pay Attention To The Negativity” Halle Bailey Responds To Criticism Of Her Little Mermaid Casting [VIDEO]

View original post here:

Source: WENN/Avalon / WENN While the Black community and people with good sense celebrated the news of Halle Bailey being selected to play role of Ariel in  The Little Mermaid,   it also inspired a lot of racists to step forward and share their hate. They were sick about the fact that live-action Ariel was going to be a Black girl. While Bailey has shared that she’s thrilled about the role, people wondered if she’d heard the criticisms from the naysayers. There was a Change.org petition, asking that Disney rescind their decision. On social media, there was a #NotMyAriel hashtag for people who felt strongly about the issue. There were even those who argued that casting Bailey as Ariel would remove representation for red-headed children. I guess no one considered the fact that Black folks can be red-headed as well. It turns out that Bailey did hear the criticisms and she had a very classy, very appropriate and mature response. See what she had to say below. In an interview with Variety, Bailey said, “I feel like I’m dreaming and I’m just grateful and I don’t pay attention to the negativity. I just feel like this role was something bigger than me, and greater. It’s going to be beautiful. I’m just so excited to be a part of it.” Sign Up For Our Newsletter! Close Thank you for subscribing! It came from behind me, the shots started from behind me. They started from behind me because [inaudible] I said, ‘Oh shit, somebody shooting!’ The first shot hit the f–king spare tire. And then I don’t know how the shots came from the side of me [inaudible].” After the incident on Tuesday morning, she informed fans that she hadn’t been hit and thanked everyone for their concern. As she shared with fans on Thursday, it’s her very first cover. PTSD is a very real issue, and it’s definitely not something you want to be grappling with while carrying a child. SMH: Rick Ross Reveals What REALLY Happened To Pusha T’s Verse On “Maybach Music VI” [Video]

Source: Shareif Ziyadat / Getty Rick Ross Reveals Why He Took Pusha T’s Verse Off “Maybach Music VI” Since Port of Miami 2 dropped last night, fans have been coming up with all sorts of theories on why Pusha T’s verse didn’t make the final cut of “Maybach Music VI” with Lil Wayne . But Rick Ross is trying to nip that in the bud before things go any further. The boss stopped by Hot 97 this morning to talk about the release of his album, and of course, the topic of “Maybach Music VI” came up pretty quickly. There were rumors that either one of the feuding rappers he was trying to get on the song didn’t clear their verses once they found out one another was on the project, but according to Ross, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Though Pusha’s verse leaked around the same time as the album dropped on Thursday night, Ross said the decision to not put the verse on the song came down to not feeling the unification of these two legendary rappers would have been organic under the circumstances. “What’s so dope about it is that both verses were cleared from both parties, but like I said, it was more about the bigger picture,” Rozay explained. “Is this gonna move them two getting together closer? I’mma take the charge for that. I didn’t feel like this was the time for that.” Whether or not the content matter of Pusha’s verse–which included some jabs that could be directed at Lil Wayne and/or Drake–was the reason his verse was the one removed wasn’t addressed. Check the interview out for yourself down below to hear what Ross had to say about the whole situation:

Kim Kardashian & More Celebs Have Millions of Fake Followers: Report

Source: Alex Wong / Getty If you have been using Instagram or Twitter for years, you are well aware of the fake followers. A new report is now detailing just how bad it really is, and there are big celebrities who have a lot of them. The report from ICMP highlighted the ridiculous amount of fake followers celebrities have on the social media platform. The investigation was broken down into categories about what each star does. Ellen DeGeneres topped the showbiz category with most fake followers listed at 58%. Following her is the mega-popular K-pop band BTS with 48%, Kourtney Kardashian and Taylor Swift both at 49% and Ariana Grande’s 46%. Other notable names on the list include both Kim and Khloe Kardashian who also have a lot of fake Instagram followers listed at 44%. Seasonless twerker and habitual culture vulture Miley Cyrus clocks in at  45%. Mr. “I like my chips with the dip,” Drake appeared in the report with 38%. As far as sports stars are concerned, Soccer’s most prominent names in the game top the list. Toni Kroos of Real Madrid topped the report overall with a whopping 57% of fake followers following him. His teammates Isco Alarcon Suarez (54%) and Luka Modric (50%) are right behind him. Going through the full report, it shows in great detail no celebrity is safe from picking up fake followers. Even Beyoncé is on the list with 31%, but as long as she is not in the top right? Anyway, we just hope no one this list is actually purchasing these fake followers, that would be the ultimate sin. Quavo To Exec Produce Cartoon Series Based on Atlanta’s Hip-Hop Scene

Original post:

Source: Way Out West Festival Sweden – Day 1 – Performances Featuring: Migos, Quavo Where: Gothenburg, Sweden When: 10 Aug 2017 Credit: Emelie Andersson/WENN.com  Hip-Hop has come a long way from the days when rappers making cameos in big time Hollywood movies and TV shows were considered a huge deal for the culture. Nowadays not only are rappers doing their thing on the silver screen and on the tube, but they’re also getting in on the animation game. Just a few months after Vince Staples’ Adult Swim project Lazor Wulf was announced, the Migos’ Quavo  broke the news that he and Imagine Entertainment’s co-founder Brian Grazer are working together on an animation project inspired by Atlanta’s Hip-Hop scene. According to Complex the ATLien and Grazer are set to executive-produce a “transformative franchise” but unlike the mature content found in Staples’ Lazor Wulf , Quavo’s vision is being crafted to accommodate the children of the culture. “I have long seen how hip-hop as well as our music (Migos) really impacts kids,” Quavo said in a press release Thursday announcing the new animated franchise series aimed at kids ages 8-12. “I’ve loved animation my whole life whether on TV or in movies and I wanted my first jump into this premium content world to be a show just for kids. It will definitely reflect the creativity, love, and families in and around the NAWF side of Atlanta where we grew up.” The series will draw from the Atlanta hip-hop scene and marks a partnership between Imagine’s Marginal Mediaworks, Imagine Kids+Family, Quality Control Music, and Motown. Quality Control’s Pierre “Pee” Thomas and Kevin “Coach K” Lee will produce alongside Dan Altmann and Capitol Music Group’s Brian Nolan and Ryan Allingham. Sounds like Quavo and company are about to fill a space needed for the kids who don’t have many cartoons to choose from that they can relate to. Coach K said as much when sharing his thoughts on the upcoming project. “When I was growing up there was very little media that had brown and black skinned kids feeling heard or seen and the ones that did stood out and served as a crucial roadmap through our childhoods,” he said. “I’m about inclusive stories that address all kinds of situations that kids of ALL ethnic and financial backgrounds experience and to give them a common tool to learn and grow.” No word yet on when the series will premier but expect some original music and merchandise to accompany it’s release when the time comes.
