Kim Kardashian Wears Virgin Mary Dress, Pisses Off the World Yet Again

Remember earlier this week when, to celebrate the sacred holiday of 4/20, Kim Kardashian put a surprising new line of merchandise on her website? Perhaps you don’t. It was 4/20, after all. To recap, Kim released some nifty new items like pieces of clothing proudly displaying the message “Sorry for what I said while I was high,” a few lighters, and something called an “ass tray.” But the most controversial item for sale was — wait for it — a prayer candle lovingly decorated with a photo of Kim as the Virgin Mary . Iconic, right? Or insanely blasphemous, depending on your outlook. As it turns out, many, many people were offended by the candle. And, as always , they took to social media to announce their displeasure. “Really your face on the candle of the Virgin Mary are you that vane?” one person asked her. “Ooh wee are you going to get the wrath of God.” Another outraged soul wrote “Have you no respect for the Virgin Mary!!!! I am offended by your candle! Shame on you disrespecting Jesus’ mother!” One particularly salty person said “If anything, your face deserves to be on the fire inside the candle.” But hey, to be fair, maybe Kim wasn’t fully aware of all the pieces in this new line or merchandise before she signed off on it, you know? She is a busy woman , after all. It could have been someone else’s idea, and she just agreed to it without really considering it. Well, that could be possible, if Kim didn’t step out in a Virgin Mary dress shortly after the controversy began. Yes, photos have made their way to the internet of Kim wearing a short, tight, see-through dress with a photo of Mary herself (not the Kim/Mary hybrid from the candle) right in the middle of her chest. She’s obviously not sorry. And the Catholic League itself considers the dress a step too far — they said as much in a scathing new statement they made about Kim. The statement begins with “We’ve never seen any indication that Kim Kardashian venerates the Blessed Virgin Mary — she is a former porn star — so her latest headline-grabbing stunt can only be seen as exploitative.” “Former porn star”? Yeah, this is going to get bad. The Catholic League takes issue with Kim’s candle, of course, but also with its inclusion with the other weed-tastic items. They also refer to an item with her “bare mammoth behind” on it. Amazing. Simply amazing. They hate on Kim’s dress, which, honestly, is actually kind of cute, then close the statement with a solid bit of shade. “We know that she and her family have been through a lot — their problems are mostly self-induced — but that is no excuse for ripping off Catholic iconography to make a quick buck and grab headline news.” View Slideshow: Kim Kardashian: 19 Reasons Why She Isn’t That Terrible Kim hasn’t responded to this statement or any of the controversy, and we doubt she will. But man, what a roller coaster this has been.

Hi Hater: Outrage Sparks When Teenage Girls Are Barred From Flight Over Leggings

https://instagram.com/p/BR3YUJhjEwv/?taken-by=united United Airlines Bans Teenage Girls From Flight For Wearing Leggings In many cases dress code policies are sexist, subversive and downright stupid. Such is the case with United Airlines’ protocol and is the reason social media is lighting them on fire with hot takes. According to CBSNews , two teenage girls were barred from boarding their flight when a goodie-two-shoes gate agent chided them over their spandex leggings. This airline employee sounds like one of those fast food employees who ACTUALLY charges you ¢.39 for extra BBQ sauce, she told the girls: “I don’t make the rules, I just enforce them.” A United spokesperson, Johnathan Guerin, defended his company’s bulls#!t with this statement: “It’s not that we want our standby travelers to come in wearing a suit and tie or that sort of thing,” he said. “We want people to be comfortable when they travel as long as it’s neat and in good taste for that environment.” The girls were flying on a buddy pass and technically they were supposed to wear some kind of business-casual attire. But anyone who has ever flown on an employee pass knows good-and-damn well that airlines almost NEVER enforce this policy. Besides, who the hell would know who’s using a pass or not?! Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action organization just happened to witness the incident and started the fire on Twitter. https://twitter.com/shannonrwatts/status/845992819894321153 https://twitter.com/shannonrwatts/status/845993122186211332 https://twitter.com/united/status/845999380024836097 Eventually celebs like Chrissy Teigen and William Shatner were all chiming in on the ridiculousness. Bill Paxton Dies; Beloved Actor Was 61

Bill Paxton – the actor known for a wide array of roles over the course of his 40-year career in Hollywood – has passed away unexpectedly. He was 61 years old. Paxton’s family broke the news of the beloved TV and film star’s death in a statement issued just moments ago. “It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery,” the statement reads. Details are scarce, and the statement offered no information with regard to the nature of the surgical procedure. Paxton starred in some of the biggest blockbusters of the ’80s and ’90s, including Twister, Titanic, and Aliens. He also gave unforgettable performances in a number of highly-acclaimed films that have since come to be considered classics. Tombstone, Apollo 13, and A Simple Plan are just a few of Bill’s roles that made him one of the all-time greats in the business. In addition to his film work, Paxton was also a highly regarded television actor, especially within the last decade. He played the lead in HBO’s critically-acclaimed and fan-beloved polygamy drama Big Love for five seasons. Paxton was also nominated an Emmy for his work in the 2012 miniseries The Hatfields and the McCoys. Bill was starring in the CBS series Training Day at the time of his death. “Bill’s passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable,” the statement from the Paxton family reads. Born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1955, Paxton was present at the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. A photo of an 8-year-old Bill being lifted onto his father’s shoulders still hangs in a museum commemorating the assassination. Paxton played a number of bit parts in low-budget films upon first moving to Hollywood before landing his big break. It was after making the acquaintance of a young director named James Cameron on the set 1984’s The Terminator that his career really took off. Paxton went on to star in some of Cameron’s best-known films, including Titanic, a movie that shattered every box office record in the books. Upon its release in 1997, no film had made nearly as much money as the epic love story, which remains a classic two decades later. Among action film fanatics, Paxton’s varied and widely successful body of work has earned him this fun distinction:  View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2017: In Memoriam He is one of only two actors to be confronted by a Terminator (The Terminator), a Xenomorph (Aliens), and a Predator (Predator 2). Tributes to Paxton from family, friends, and fans began pouring in on Twitter just minutes after news of his death went public. Instantly, grieving fans have made him the world’s number one trending topic, which is a testament to the impact of his life. Paxton is survived by a wife and two children. Our thoughts are with them and all of his family and friends at this time. R.I.P. UPDATE : The actor reportedly underwent heart surgery and died of a stroke afterward, according to TMZ.

Frank Ocean SLAMS Taylor Swift: She Doesn’t Deserve a Grammy!

Frank Ocean is a national treasure. So talented. So beautiful. But while we adore Frank, it seems that he does not feel the same way about the Grammy Awards. Not even a little bit. See, back in 2013, he performed at the Grammys . There were some issues with the performance — it was a live show on a huge scale, after all. And that’s fine, it happens. But for some petty reason, a couple of producers from the awards show decided to run their mouths about it, four years later. “We executed his vision knowing that it was faulty ,” a producer named Ken Ehrilch told Rolling Stone in a new interview. “And we tried to tell him that, we tried to tell his management that, we tried to tell the record label that.” Ken called Frank’s performance “rigid” and “faulty,” and that it was “not great TV,” and that the reason he hasn’t been involved with the Grammys in the years since is because he was upset about it. And, well, Frank heard about the interview. And he didn’t appreciate it. In fact, he felt strongly enough to address it in all all-caps rant on Tumblr. “OK Ken (and David),” he began, David being the other producer that talked trash. “As much as I hate to make you guys famous or even to respond to you directly. We all die one day and you’re old so f-ck it.” “Yea yeah my 2013 performance at the Grammys was absolute sh-t. Technical difficulties, blah blah. Thanks for the reminder. Very much appreciated.” “F-ck that performance though,” he continued. “You think that’s why I kept my work out of the Grammy process this year? Don’t you think I would’ve wanted to play the show to ‘redeem’ myself if I felt that way?” It’s a fair point, but Frank hasn’t even hit his stride yet. “In reality,” he wrote, “I actually wanted to participate in honoring Prince on the show but then I figured my best tribute to that man’s legacy would be to continue to by myself out here and to be successful.” “Winning a TV award doesn’t christen my successful. It took my some time to learn that. I bought all my masters back last year in the prime of my career, that’s successful.” “‘Blonde’ sold a million plus without a label, that’s successful. I am young, black, gifted and independent.. that’s my tribute.” OK, and now we’re about to get into the Taylor Swift shade … Frank said that “I’ve actually been tuning into CBS around this time of year for a while to see who gets the top honor and you know what’s really not ‘great TV’ guys?” “1989 getting album of the year over To Pimp a Butterfly. Hands down one of the most ‘faulty’ TV moments I’ve seen.” He’s referring, of course, to Taylor’s last album, 1989, and how it beat out Kendrick Lamar’s amazing To Pimp a Butterfly for the Album of the Year Grammy. “Believe the people,” he advised the Grammy producers. “Believe the ones who’d rather watch select performances from your program on YouTube the day after because your show puts them to sleep.” “Use the old gramophone to actually listen bro,” he went on. “I’m one of the best alive. And if you’re up for a discussion about the cultural bias and general nerve damage the show you produce suffers from then I’m all for it.” “Have a good night.” And, well, he’s not wrong. About any of it. Taylor’s album sold extremely well, and it was fun and catchy, but Kendrick Lamar definitely had the better album. Just like, all those years ago, Beyonce had the better music video . It’s a good thing Taylor doesn’t have a new album this year — we have a feeling we know who’d be getting the pointed, misguided speech this year. Al Jarreau Dies; Jazz Legend Was 76

Just days after he was forced to retire due to health issues, legendary jazz singer Al Jarreau died at a hospital in Los Angeles on Sunday. He was 76 years old. According to reports, Al Jarreau was forced into retirement, at least from touring if not from music altogether, due to serious exhaustion. The seven-time Grammy Award winner’s manager, Joe Gordon, released a statement late this afternoon, on the eve of the Grammys. Gordon said, no doubt with a very heavy heart: “Al Jarreau passed away this morning .” He died “about 5:30am L.A. time.” “[Jarreau] was in the hospital, kept comfortable by [his son] Ryan, [his wife] Susan and a few of his family and friends.” “Ryan and Susan will hold a small, private service at home, for immediate family only. No public service is planned yet.” News of his death comes five days after Jarreau announced in a post on his website that he was retiring from touring “due to exhaustion.” Jarreau’s medical team advised him not to perform his remaining 2017 tour dates, effectively putting his touring career on hold indefinitely. Al had been hospitalized in L.A., where he had been “receiving excellent medical care, responding to treatments and improving slowly.”  “Therefore, with complete sorrow, Al Jarreau must retire from touring,” effective immediately, the statement on his website read. “He is thankful for his 50 years of traveling the world in ministry through music, and for everyone who shared this with him. Jarreau went on to give thanks for “his faithful audience, the dedicated musicians and so many others who supported his effort.” The versatile singer was famously the first vocalist in music history to receive Grammy Awards in three separate categories. He took home Grammys in jazz, pop and R&B. Over a long and distinguished career spanning decades, he was perhaps best known for the 1981 hit “We’re in This Love Together.” He also performed the theme song from the ’80s TV series Moonlighting , which starred Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2017: In Memoriam

Price Of Justice: Antonio Cromarties’s Wife Terricka Claims He Was Cut From The Colts Over National Anthem Protest

Terricka Cromartie Posts Instagram Blaming Anthem Protest For Husband Being Cut Baby-makin’ baller Antonio Cromartie no longer has a job with the Indianapolis Colts and according to his wife Terricka, it’s because Antonio got his Colin Kaepernick on and the team wasn’t with the s#!ts. ESPN is reporting that Terricka Cromartie took to Instagram to air out her displeasure with Colts owner Jim Irsay’s comments about players who choose to use their professional platform to make social commentary. Here’s what he told the IndyStar yesterday: “I think it’s the wrong venue,” Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay told USA TODAY Sports. “It hasn’t been a positive thing. What we all have to be aware of as players, owners, PR people, equipment managers, is when the lights go on we are entertainment. We are being paid to put on a show. There are other places to express yourself.” In her now deleted Instagram post, here is what Terricka said about Irsay and her husband: “You are Nothing More than an Entertainer. Just Shut and do what we say. You have No rights as along as you are working for me.. there are other places for you to fight and stand for what you believe,” the post said. The post added: “One things for sure I know my husband was told Not to take a Knee and he went with his heart and he took one. And that cost him his Job.. and Clearly this Statement backs that up… Just a Paid To put on a show.” IndyStar Sports journalist Stephen Holder isn’t completely sold that the protest was the cause of Cromartie’s demise So, I'm not calling Cromartie's wife a liar, but I think there's a chance this is a stretch. He was signed as a stopgap to begin with. — Stephen Holder (@HolderStephen) October 20, 2016 Guess it would hard to prove that taking a knee cost Antonio his job, but as shady, janky and duplicitous as the NFL can be, it wouldn’t surprise us in the slightest if that was the reason Cromartie was cut. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (Kinda) Apologizes For Criticizing Colin Kaepernick’s Anthem Protests

Ruth Bader Ginsburg Apologizes For Criticizing Anthem Protests Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg now wishes she would have STFU when it comes to the recent National Anthem protests lead by Colin Kaepernick reports ESPN : “Some of you have inquired about a book interview in which I was asked how I felt about Colin Kaepernick and other NFL players who refused to stand for the national anthem,” Ginsburg’s statement read. “Barely aware of the incident or its purpose, my comments were inappropriately dismissive and harsh. I should have declined to respond.” It’s the second time in recent months that the 83-year-old Ginsburg has apologized for public comments. She said her comments criticizing Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in July were “ill advised.” Do you think the Court Justice’s apology was adequate or nah?
