Ryan Gosling Declares His ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’ For Emma Stone

‘She’s everything, all the time,’ Gosling tells MTV News at film’s NYC premiere. By Amy Wilkinson Ryan Gosling Photo: MTV News NEW YORK — Ryan Gosling may have an Oscar nomination to his name, but the leading man didn’t have to strain his acting muscles too much to portray a man enamored of Emma Stone in the upcoming romantic comedy, “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” When we caught up with the 30-year-old at the movie’s New York premiere Tuesday night, he was more than happy to dole out accolades for his co-star. “She’s everything, all the time,” he said. “There’s no one like her. As soon as she signed on for this movie, I knew it was going to be good.” In the film, which hits theaters July 29, Gosling plays lothario Jacob, a love-averse playboy who takes Steve Carell’s Cal under his wing to teach him the ways of a skilled pickup artist. Yet, in the end, Jacob himself unwittingly finds love with Stone’s Hannah — a role Gosling said was perfectly cast. “The whole film depends on my character giving it all up for her,” he said. “When she came in the room, it all made sense. Show me someone that wouldn’t give it all up for Emma Stone, and I’ll show you a liar.” The admiration, however, certainly wasn’t one-sided. Stone, who stars alongside both Gosling and Justin Timberlake (“Friends With Benefits”) this month, had a hard time wrapping her head around her collection of amazing co-stars. “It’s pretty wild, isn’t it?” she said. “It’s not too shabby. Those Mickey Mouse Clubbers, I’m going to take them by storm.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Tupac’s Teasing Inspires Tech N9ne’s New Video

Kansas City MC says playful ‘Pac taunts like ‘How’s Dorothy and Toto?’ sparked concept for ‘He’s a Mental Giant’ clip. By Rob Markman Tech N9ne Photo: MTV News Strange music indeed. In Tech N9ne ‘s latest music video, “He’s a Mental Giant,” the Kansas City, Missouri, rapper puts a hip-hop twist on the 1939 classic film “The Wizard of Oz.” While Tech says that the clip’s concept came from director Dan Gedman, he also credits Tupac with helping to spark the idea. “I remember when I met Tupac in ’92 at Jack the Rapper [music conference] at the Atlanta Hilton. I used to be down there in the lobby and Tupac down there drunk, yelling and stuff. I used to tell everybody I was from K.C.; they was like, ‘They let y’all rap in Kansas City? How’s Dorothy and Toto?’ ” he recalled of the ribbing he got from ‘Pac and other rappers. “I’m like, ‘OK, watch this.’ ” Of course, Tech hails from the Missouri city, not the state of Kansas, where “Oz” is set. Regardless, the “Mental Giant” clip shows Tecca Nina looking into a crystal ball as another incarnation of the MC wanders through a fantasy world. Throughout his journey, Tech avoids various pitfalls like lustful women and an alien air-raid before escaping in a hot-air balloon made of stone. “Mental Giant” is the second single off of Tech’s All 6’s and 7’s, which debuted at #4 on the Billboard albums chart this week thanks to Nina’s dedicated fanbase , an 82-city tour and, of course, creative video concepts. “I just did it and some crazy-ass Wizard of Oz on ecstasy and shrooms came out,” he laughed. “I think that’s a good thing.” Related Artists Tech N9ne Tupac

Stevie Stone Talks Signing With Tech N9ne’s Label

‘It was a move that was in my heart,’ rapper tells Mixtape Daily. By Rob Markman Stevie Stone Photo: MTV News Fire Starter: Stevie Stone Some things were just meant to be. In the case of St. Louis, Missouri, rapper Stevie Stone , signing with Tech N9ne ‘s Strange Music label was well in the works before the up-and-coming rapper signed his name on the dotted line. After opening for Tech with a 10-minute set in a Fulton, Missouri, show as a high school student in 2000, Stone knew that he wanted to pursue music full-time. “That 10 minutes gave me the bug,” Stevie told Mixtape Daily at a recent Independence, Missouri, album signing event for Tech’s All 6’s and 7’s. Through the years the young MC kept in close contact, doing shows with Tech even though he signed his initial deal with Ruthless Records, the label co-founded by the late Eazy-E. In 2009 Stone dropped his debut album, New Kid Comin. Tech appeared on the LP on a song called “Midwest Explosion.” “A lot of his fans — Technicians, Juggalos — all of them adapted to it,” Stone said of the song. “My name started buzzing around here, especially in the Midwest on the underground scene.” Though he and Tech had formed a bond, Stevie was contractually obligated to Ruthless and couldn’t sign to Strange. Still, he joined Tecca Nina on his K.O.D. tour in 2009, his Ruthless contract expired the next year and he ended up officially signing with Strange in March. Stone is currently on Tech’s 82-city All 6’s and 7’s tour as an opening act. In between shows, the new addition is prepping his Strange Music debut, Rolling Stone, for an early 2012 release. “It was a move that was in my heart. I knew it was the move to make, and I guess they felt the same way. And when the time presented itself, we inked,” said Stevie, holding up his Strange Music chain with pride. Taylor Swift Is ‘A Pretty Normal Girl,’ Emma Stone Says

At the country/pop star’s urging, Stone talks about her secret baking skills during MTV’s Sneak Peek Week. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Emma Stone Photo: MTV News Emma Stone and Taylor Swift are best gal pals. Stone has opened up about Swift in the past, revealing that the superstar “has such a sick sense of humor,” and when Stone sat down for a Q&A about “The Help” during MTV’s Sneak Peek Week , she divulged a bit more about their relationship. So is Stone digging Swift’s latest album, Speak Now ? “I am indeed. I was lucky enough to hear it pretty early on, so it’s so exciting for it to be out and own the songs instead of just be singing them [in my head],” she dished, sharing that just because Swift is one of the biggest pop stars in the world doesn’t mean she’s at all critical of her friends who can’t sing as well as her. “Taylor’s a pretty normal girl,” Stone said. ” … She’s not [like], ‘I am one of the world’s most popular singers.’ ” Stone’s kind words came shortly after an email was read to her from her superstar pal who wanted to know more about her love of baking. “I’ve been baking at least once a day,” she shared, revealing some of the sweet treats she’s been making the past few months. While she’s got some sweet skills when it comes to confections, when she attempts to bake for a large group, the results aren’t as delicious. “I made 60 biscuits once for a party,” she said. “They didn’t turn out so great, though. I think in bulk I’m a little subpar.” Will wizards, vampires or dream thieves steal the 2011 MTV Movie Awards ? Find out June 5, when the 20th annual show airs live at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Emma Stone And Bryce Dallas Howard Bond Over ‘Spider-Man’ Role

New Gwen Stacy says ‘it was pretty great to be together’ on ‘The Help’ set when she learned the casting news. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Emma Stone Photo: MTV News WEST HOLLYWOOD, California — In a weird twist of fate, Emma Stone found out she’d be playing Gwen Stacy in the latest installment of “Spider-Man” while on the set of “The Help” co-starring the previous franchise’s Gwen, Bryce Dallas Howard. “I found out while I was on set of ‘The Help,’ ” she said about the Andrew Garfield-starring “Amazing Spider-Man” during “The Help” Q&A session for MTV’s Sneak Peek Week. “It was pretty great to be together for that.” Howard said she was almost as excited about the casting as Stone was. “Representing as redheads!” she proclaimed onstage in front of an excited crowd at the Pacific Design Center. “I’m one of those people that goes online and reads gossip about movies, so pretty early on, there was some buzz,” she said, adding that she stormed into Stone’s trailer the minute she heard the news. “I was stoked.” With so much buzz about the new “Spider-Man” film, it seems that Stone will be just as surprised as fans to see the flick. “I’ve seen nothing, I promise. I’ve seen small action sequences for the 3-D, and it looked terrible,” she joked. “I really haven’t seen [anything].” So what did Stone do to research the role of Gwen — besides leaning on Howard for her first-hand account, of course. “I read a pretty comprehensive ‘Death of the Stacys’ book … and it’s a really amazing book to learn the story of Captain Stacy and Gwen Stacy,” she said. “And I’ve read a various amount of comics.” Will wizards, vampires or dream thieves steal the 2011 MTV Movie Awards ? How the Censors Cock-Blocked Sucker Punch

Turns out that director Zack Snyder and leads Emily Browning and Jon Hamm did have the breast interests of peter-pullers in mind when they filmed the new nudity-free slo-mo fest Sucker Punch – it was those mean ol’ censors who did the movie in. Emily told this tale of woe to Nylon magazine: “I had a very tame and mild love scene with Jon Hamm. It was like heavy breathing and making out. It was hardly a sex scene… I think that it’s great for this young girl to actually take control of her own sexuality. “Well, the MPAA doesn’t like that. They don’t think a girl should ever be in control of her own sexuality because they’re from the Stone Age. I don’t know what the fuck is going on and I will openly criticize it, happily. So essentially, they got [director] Zack [Snyder] to edit the scene and make it look less like she’s into it. And Zack said he edited it down to the point where it looked like he was taking advantage of her. That’s the only way he could get a Pg-13 (rating) and he said, ‘I don’t want to send that message.’ So they cut the scene!” Jon Hamm and Emily Browning? That’s a makeout session with something for everyone! Seriously, people, the PG-13 is ruining skinema. What we need is a motley crew of crazy but sexy teen girls to take the MPAA down with samurai swords….oh no, wait. Never mind.

Queens of the Stone Age Keep Rock Alive In Austin, Texas

The Josh Homme-fronted band played its entire self-titled debut album and assorted other favorites at the SXSW festival on Wednesday. By Zachary Swickey Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme performs at SXSW on Wednesday Photo: Zachary Swickey AUSTIN, Texas — Walking onstage sporting a red, slicked-back mohawk mullet, with bottle of vodka in hand, the riff factory known as Josh Homme was ready to get down to business with his old pals on Wednesday night. While he was a little busy last year working with a few guys you may have heard of — Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones — in the side project Them Crooked Vultures, Homme is now waxing nostalgic by playing the Queens’ eponymous 1998 debut in its entirety on a new tour . What better place to kick off said trek than the tiny, 1,200-capacity La Zona Rosa at the South by Southwest music festival? The band wasted no time kicking into “Regular John,” which set the tone for the night as Queens pulled the tune off flawlessly. The Queens must have had fun rehearsing the old record, because there were no audible technical mishaps, and no small subtleties were left out as the keypad sounds that began “You Would Know” were heard. After the intense instrumental “Hispanic Impressions,” Homme calmed things down — lighting himself a cigarette and taking a swig of his bottle — before serenading the women in the audience with “You Can’t Quit Me Baby.” Soon, we were all ordered to dance to the thundering drumbeat of “Give the Mule What He Wants.” After performing their whole self-titled album, start-to-finish, Queens of the Stone Age came back with an encore full of hits that was nearly as long. Homme asked the audience for any song requests, and a lucky woman got hers fulfilled when they played the sexy fan-favorite “Make It Wit Chu,” from Era Vulgaris. Homme’s banter was livelier than ever as he mimicked one concertgoer who sounded like Sammy Hagar (“Paaaaarty!”), and then proceeded to chastise a security guard for spotlighting another fan. “Hey, turn your light off and let the guy film the show if he wants,” the singer/guitarist commanded. “Let him do whatever he wants.” The comment could not have seemed more appropriate considering that after the next song, Homme handed his bottle of vodka (now half-empty) to the front row of fans. The audience’s fervor and intensity was at its highest during “Go With the Flow,” which started a small ruckus in the crowd for first time in the night. As Homme shredded away to “Little Sister” from Lullabies to Paralyze came the sad realization that the night was coming to a close. Sobriety may work for Eminem, but it has no place in the music world in where Josh Homme lives. Rest assured, if Elvis were alive today, he and Homme would be drinking buddies. Leave it to Queens of the Stone Ago to let the world know that rock and roll is alive and well. Have you caught Queens of the Stone Age in concert? Share your experiences in the comments.
