Rep tells MTV News ‘Sonny with a Chance’ star ‘remains committed,’ despite false reports that she would leave for Thanksgiving. By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato Photo: Jason LaVeris/ WireImage On Wednesday, reports surfaced that Demi Lovato had plans to leave her treatment facility next week to spend Thanksgiving with her family. Sources told E! News that the Disney star hoped to be home for the holiday. However, a rep for the starlet denies that report in a statement to MTV News. “Recent reports stating that Demi Lovato will be out of treatment by Thanksgiving are false,” the rep tells us. “While she would of course love to be home for the holidays, she remains committed first and foremost to her treatment.” The rep does goes on to say that “Demi has made tremendous progress to date, but understands that she has more work to do. Unfortunately, the news outlet that reported this story originally failed to call us for comment or to fact check the story before it was printed.” Lovato quit her tour with the Jonas Brothers about two weeks ago to deal with “emotional and physical issues.” Last week, Disney released a statement noting that they would revamp Lovato’s series , “Sonny with a Chance,” to reflect her absence, focusing the story line on the inner-workings of the sketch comedy program Lovato’s character, Sonny, appears on, “So Random!” “This allows her the time she needs to get well, without distraction or pressure,” a Disney Channel spokesperson said. “Again, we extend our ongoing support to Demi and her family as she works to overcome personal issues.” The show’s new format will focus on a beefed-up version of “So Random!” packed with guest stars, performances and digital shorts. By Jocelyn Vena Photo: MTV News Fans have been clamoring for information about the Catherine Hardwicke-helmed, Amanda Seyfried-starring “Red Riding Hood.” And when the film hits theaters next year, Seyfried promises it will be nothing like the story they heard as children. This tale is a lot, lot darker. ” ‘Red Riding Hood’ is a classic fairy tale that we all know, and what fans can expect from this version of the story is that it’s basically just a jumping-off point. Catherine Hardwicke has just completely turned this story into something edgy and gothic and dark, and she’s clearly somebody that’s very capable of turning something, everything into an extraordinary world, as we’ve seen before,” Seyfried said about the film in an interview with “The Seven,” which premiered a trailer for the flick Tuesday (November 16). “And also there’s a romance aspect to the film, which isn’t in the fairy tale … a lot of romance and a lot of danger,” she continued. “There’s a wolf at the center of the story, and it’s exciting ’cause it’s a whodunit.” Sure, the fairy tale that the flick is based on is plenty scary, but Seyfried reveals that whatever frightening elements were there to begin with have gotten much more frightening under Hardwicke’s supervision, and thanks to a cast that includes Gary Oldman and Julie Christie . “Fans will be surprised by the tone of the film,” she explained. “Catherine just completely throws it into this dark world, and it’s a little scarier than it was meant to be when it was written.
