‘Snow White And The Huntsman’ Trailer: 5 Key Scenes

Kristen Stewart is ‘fairest of them all’ and kicking serious butt in new sneak peek. By Kara Warner Kristen Stewart in “Snow White and The Huntsman” Photo: Universal With most of our Kristen Stewart focus zeroed in on a little movie called “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” which opens next week, she has an equally intriguing film coming down the pike this summer — “Snow White and the Huntsman” — the trailer for which was unveiled Thursday (November 10) by Apple . No matter what you might have been expecting, given Stewart’s comments about the film or production photos that were released, this trailer is a doozy and completely delivers on the intense, warrior-esque elements that have been teased. Here are our five favorite scenes: 1. Charlize Theron Kills It as the Evil Queen From the second you hear her eerily intense and foreboding voice, to the shots of her mindless murders, to the last shot of the trailer — in which she swoops her exquisite black cloak about her and it turns into a flock of crows — Theron delivers in every sense of the word. It’s going to be fun to watch her Queen and Stewart’s Snow White go toe-to-toe! 2. The Mirror on the Wall Most of us are familiar with the classic fairy tale upon which this film is based, and while the Mirror is indeed an important part of the story, it can come off a bit campy, depending on the visual effects used to design it. This mirror is just so cool/creepy! When summoned by the Queen via that famous phrase — “Mirror mirror, on wall, who’s the fairest of them all?” — the mirror seems to melt into a puddle of bronze liquid on the floor and then reshapes itself into a hooded, appropriately deep-voiced figure. 3. Stewart Looking Fierce and Kicking Butt We had a pretty good idea Stewart’s version of the “fairest of them all” would be different, based on the photo of her in fancy armor and holding a sword, and now, we have even more proof that Stewart’s Snow White is pretty badass. Never does she look innocent or weak, whether on the run, defending herself in armor or confronting a fearsome, growling beast. 4. Chris Hemsworth Is a Perfect Huntsman “Find me someone who doesn’t fear the dark forest to hunt her down,” the Queen commands, her voice heard over our first glimpse of Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman, wielding an ax and fighting in the forest, which is followed by several other shots of Hemsworth in action, getting down and dirty in battle. It’s a perfect deviation from that pretty-boy Asgardian prince Thor, if we do say so ourselves. 5. Brief Glimpses of the Supporting Players Even though the title of the film is “Snow White and the Huntsman,” there are plenty more players in the mix of this fractured fairy tale. Specifically our brief glimpses of Prince Charming, played by “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” star Sam Claflin, who we see both in battle and leaning down to kiss Snow White. Then there are the eight dwarves. Eight, not seven, according to what Stewart revealed to Jay Leno recently, whom we only see for extremely brief moments in the trailer, first walking together, single-file, on the top of a rolling hill, then following behind the Huntsman. Katy Perry Follows Lady Gaga In Mermaid Trend

Perry posts photo of herself ‘planking’ in fins shortly after Gaga teases a mermaid-themed video. By Jocelyn Vena Katy Perry Photo: Katy Perry/ Twitter Of all the potential beefs in the music industry, mermaids didn’t seem like the most likely of instigators. But that may change. Shortly after Lady Gaga teased that her mermaid alter ego, Yuyi, might be “born” in her next music video, Katy Perry tweeted a photo of herself dressed as a mermaid. “PROPER planking FTW! #itswhatArielwoulddo,” she wrote on Twitter , showing off her second entry into the Internet phenom of planking , in which people post photos of themselves lying face down, with their arms at their sides, in awkward locations. In the photo, Perry is done up in full mermaid attire: She’s wearing a purple wig with a starfish hairpin, a shimmering aqua-and-pink mermaid tail with a matching bra top. She’s surrounded by shiny paper acting as water and a bridge prop looms in the background. There’s been no word on the official purpose of the photo shoot. While Gaga hasn’t commented on any mermaid similarities, her creative director, Laurieann Gibson, did make reference to it on Twitter just hours after Perry tweeted the photo of herself. “Proud of my artist #1 in the world @Ladygaga her vision& passion. even though they try to steal a tail there’s only 1 Mermaid, Swim On!!!” Gibson wrote . Gaga has certainly been trying to make her mermaid phase happen for some time now. She initially introduced fans to Yuyi on Twitter earlier this summer and donned mermaid attire for her performance on “Le Grand Journal.” Though she apparently nixed the rumored mermaid treatment for her “Edge of Glory” video , she told a Taiwanese talk show last week that Yuyi is “in incubation” and may appear in the video for her yet-unannounced fourth Born This Way single. Of course, neither Gaga nor Perry would be the first pop star to think of using the mythological creatures for their sets. In Madonna’s black-and-white clip for 1989’s “Cherish,” directed by the late fashion photographer Herb Ritts, Madonna splashes in the waves with mermen. Mermaids are popping up elsewhere in pop culture too, as a major plot point in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” and in several new novels, including an upcoming book by “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer. British Invasion: Prince William & Kate Middleton Dazzle at BAFTA Event, Polo Match

Prince William and Kate Middleton took over Southern California yesterday. After a day at the Santa Barbara polo fields, the newlyweds brought glamour, grace, star power and formal wear to the BAFTA Brits to Watch event. Walking down the red carpet, Kate wore a lilac Alexander McQueen gown and earrings borrowed from the Queen, and William a classic black tux … “In terms of pure star quality, William and Kate are the biggest stars in the world ,” said Piers Morgan, among the guests at the hottest ticket in Hollywood. How impressed were the celebs? In a town where your worth is gauged by how late you get to show up, the biggest names in showbiz were there early. The best seats – at the table with the royal couple – went to Nicole Kidman, Barbra Streisand and James Brolin, along with executives and diplomats. Also attending were Jennifer Lopez, Blake Lively , Dana Delany, Elizabeth Moss, Marie Louise Parker, Kristin Chenoweth, Jason Bateman, Elizabeth Banks, Jack Black, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Jonah Hill and Chris Evans. Earlier in the day, Prince William and Kate Middleton brought their American tour to Santa Barbara for lunch and polo, and got a big celebrity welcome. Rob Lowe, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Molly Sims, Joe Jonas, Zoe Saldana, Rosario Dawson and Billy Zane were on hand as the pair arrived by helicopter and walked across the lawn to the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club in Carpinteria. “Catherine and I have had a busy few days so the prospect of being able to let loose this afternoon is wonderful for me,” William said. As for whether he’ll return to Santa Barbara, the 29-year-old said, “That depends on the result out there today – I’m not a good loser.” Good news for Santa Barbara residents. As the lovely Catherine smiled and clapped, William scored four goals as his team won, 5-2. Kate wore a silver and grey silk dress by Jenny Packham. Tickets cost up to $4,000 and celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis did the cooking! [Photos: Fame Pictures]

‘Transformers’ Sequel Sets Box-Office Record

Michael Bay’s third installment in the series had the highest-grossing July 4th debut ever. By Ryan J. Downey “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” Photo: Paramount Pictures There’s no hiding the success of the “robots in disguise” franchise: “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” enjoyed the highest-grossing Fourth of July film debut ever over the weekend. Summer sequel mania was in full swing over the Independence Day holiday as the latest “Transformers” movie took in an estimated $97.5 million. “Transformers” beat the 2011 opening-weekend record previously set by “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” which just crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide. Director Michael Bay’s third installment in the “Transformers” series took in more than $180 million during its six-day opening, which started with Tuesday night previews. While it beat the Independence Day record held by “Spider-Man 2” thanks to inflation and 3-D screenings, it fell short of the superhero sequel in terms of overall attendance and far behind the last “Transformers” opening as well. Only 38 percent of major critics found the film favorable, according to Rotten Tomatoes . Last weekend’s big sequel, “Cars 2,” suffered from the largest second-week drop in Pixar’s history. The talking-car-centered animated kid flick fell 60 percent to #2 with an estimated $26.2 million, with an 11-day total of $123 million. Cameron Diaz’s “Bad Teacher” was #3 on the box-office chart with $14.5 million for an 11-day total of $59.9 million. Critics have not been kind to “Larry Crowne,” which opened at #4 with just $13.1 million. ” ‘Larry Crowne’ has Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts and a good premise and a colorful supporting cast,” wrote Roger Ebert . “But what it doesn’t have is a reason for existing.” The weekend’s other new romantic comedy, Selena Gomez’s “Monte Carlo,” failed to even crack the top five with its $7.4 million debut. “Super 8” was #5 with $7.8 million. JJ Abrams’ homage to co-producer Steven Spielberg’s thrill-filled coming-of-age stories has earned more than $108 million in four weeks of release. Lady Gaga’s Meat Dress Stays Fresh At Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

It’s ‘definitely one of the stranger pieces’ on display, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame curator Jim Henke tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga at the 2010 VMAs Photo: Kevin Mazur/ Getty Images Oh, that meat dress ! Nearly a year after Lady Gaga wore it at the MTV Video Music Awards, the costume made of various cuts of meat that designer Franc Fernandez and stylist Nicola Formichetti put together is still making headlines. On Thursday (June 16), that dress will join the “Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power” exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, where it will sit on display along with Gaga’s childhood piano and Armani Prive orbit gown , which she wore to the 2011 Grammys, until February 2012. “I was talking to Lady Gaga’s managers, and this is probably around November [of last year], and basically talked about different things, and we talked about the meat dress and we thought it would be great to add it to the exhibit just because of all the notoriety it has, so that’s basically how it came about,” RRHOF chief curator Jim Henke told MTV News. “We thought the meat dress would really be cool.” So, how will the folks at the Rock Hall keep it fresh until it wraps up its stint there? “It’s going to be in a case and we are putting some canisters in there to control the humidity, and then we have this other canister that soaks up the glutens,” he explained. “But it’s in a sealed case and we have the gels to control the environment in there.” However, it took some work to get it to the point where it can hang around the Rock Hall along with a number of other high-profile memorabilia without seeming super-gross. Henke explained, “We went back to Franc Fernandez … ultimately what we decided to do, we sent it to a taxidermist, they put it into a meat locker and then we started working on it and created this [chemical] solution and treated it with that. “And then they had a body form, and when it was still wet, they put it on the body form and then it dried on there,” he continued. “And then they had to do a little bit of painting to bring it back and give it a little bit more color.” Gaga hasn’t been shy about making the dress into jerky or wanting to have her extensive wardrobe in a museum, as she shared on “The Graham Norton Show.” “I keep everything and dream of having a museum of all my clothes. I have an archive house for all my clothes,” she said. “[The dress has] been jerked. It stank. It was fabulous. I never want to talk to anyone at those big celebrity functions because I feel awkward, and it was great — because it stunk, I didn’t have to talk to anyone.” Having the dress in the exhibit is quite an honor and it’s an interesting piece, but Henke notes this isn’t the most bizarre exhibit at the RRHOF. “Definitely one of the stranger pieces,” he laughed about the dress, adding, “There are some other weird things. We actually have [pioneering radio DJ] Alan Freed’s ashes.” Related Photos If Gaga’s Meat Dress Started A Celebrity Trend Related Artists Lady Gaga
