World Cup 2010: Yaya Touré’s agent says move to Manchester City likely

• Barcelona midfielder likely to join brother Kolo at Eastlands • ‘I think we will probably close his departure very soon’ Manchester City’s long pursuit of Yaya Touré is nearing a successful conclusion and the basis of a deal with Barcelona has been agreed for after the World Cup. A fee has been decided, understood to value him in the region of £25m, and if the structure of payments can be decided City appear to have beaten off Chelsea to convince the 27-year-old that joining a club not involved in the Champions League may still be of benefit to his career. Touré has been on City’s radar since Mark Hughes was manager but, until the past few weeks, he has always expressed reservations about leaving Barcelona for a club outside the Champions League. He is now understood to be inclined to join his brother, Kolo, and become City’s second major summer signing following the £10.5m arrival of Jerome Boateng, the Germany defender, from Hamburg. “I think we will probably close his departure very soon,” Touré’s agent, Dimitri Seluk, said today. “It is likely to be this week, but at the moment we can’t announce anything.” The matter is complicated by the fact that Barcelona have a new president, Sandro Rosell. “I haven’t spoken to Rosell but, out of respect, of course I will speak to him before anything is closed,” Seluk said. “[Joan] Laporta is the president until 30

Roger Federer vs. Igor Andreev — Australian Open 2010

www.fuzzyyellowballs.com Roger Federer and Igore Andreev are squaring off in the first round of the 2010 Australian Open. The last time Federer and Andreev played was the 2008 US Open, where Andreev pushed Federer to 5 sets before ultimately losing to the Swiss star. FYB’s prediction is that Roger will win in straight sets. While Andreev has a big game — particularly a massive forehand — his results since the 2009 US Open have been very poor. He lost in the first round to American Jesse Witten in that tournament and has only won one match on the professional tour since. We’ve got a prize for the person who predicts the score of this match the best — a $25 gift card from Tennis Express. Post your predictions in the comments for this video (before the match starts!).

Higuain’s Hat Trick Lifts Argentina Past South Korea

Filed under: FIFA World Cup , Argentina , South Korea JOHANNESBURG (AP) — Gonzalo Higuain scored a hat trick in Argentina’s 4-1 win over South Korea at the World Cup on Thursday, a result that put the South Americans on the brink of qualifying for the next round from Group B. Higuain scored his first goal in the 33rd minute with a far post header after Nicolas Burdisso flicked on a cross from Maxi Rodriguez. He added two second-half goals – in the 76th and 80th minutes – to put the result beyond doubt. “I have to congratulate the players … everything they did worked out well,” Argentina coach Diego Maradona said. “I am very happy.” Argentina had gone ahead 1-0 in the 17th when Park Chu-young deflected a free kick from Lionel Messi into his own net, and looked to be comfortable after Higuain’s header. But South Korea pulled one back in first-half injury time when Lee Chung-yong pounced on a defensive mistake by defender Martin Demichelis. Argentina now leads Group B with six points from two games, while South Korea, which beat Greece 2-0 in its opening match, has three.
