Young Jeezy Rouses New York Crowd, With Help From Kanye, Jay-Z

Monday show was in honor of sixth anniversary of his debut LP, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101. By Alvin Blanco Young Jeezy Photo: MTV News According to , New York is his second home. The Atlanta-based rapper looked quite comfortable onstage Monday night at the Highline Ballroom for a special TM101: Live! show. The performance was in honor of the sixth anniversary of his platinum-selling debut album, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101. Jeezy ran through other selections from his catalog of commercial and street hits, too, while bringing out a number of special, crowd-hyping guests, including Jay-Z and Kanye West. Doors to the show didn’t open until 9 p.m., and those on a line that stretched down 16th Street who made it past the logjam at the front door and into the venue were greeted by Funkmaster Flex of Hot 97 (the station and The Source magazine were among the event’s sponsors), warming up the crowd with a DJ set. Flex spun a number of favorites, included Jay-Z and Kanye West’s (ahem, the Throne ‘s) “Otis” single , which he played at least a couple of times while boisterously expressing his fondness for the tune. As Flex’s set went on, the crowd swelled, including the VIP section upstairs, where artists like Royce Da 5’9″ and Bun B were in attendance. Jeezy’s band, most dressed in dark suits and fitted baseball caps, finally stepped onstage a little before 11:30 p.m. The “favorite rapper’s favorite rapper” hit the stage dressed in all black and wearing sunglasses, with a few dazzling, diamond-encrusted chains around his neck. He kicked off his set with the rousing “Standing Ovation” from his debut album. Most of the crowd rapped along with Jeezy word for word and did so throughout the nearly two dozen songs he would perform as the night went on. After the opener, Jeezy segued into “Let’s Get It/ Sky’s the Limit” and “Go Crazy,” both from his debut. The latter had already been met with an enthusiastic response as soon as its opening notes were heard. But the crowd reached a fever pitch when an unannounced Jay-Z coolly hit the stage to perform his verse as well. After Hova left the stage, Jeezy went into “Trap Star” and afterwards asked the crowd, “NYC, is y’all riding with me tonight?” The band then went into “Put On,” from the trap star’s third album, The Recession. Kanye West then strode to the stage, sending the crowd into another frenzy as he performed his verse from the song. “I told y’all we just getting started,” said Jeezy after Yeezy exited the stage. The Def Jam rapper then performed more fan favorites from his debut, including “Bottom of the Map,” “Bang” and “Get Ya Mind Right,” before the next guest, Bun B, came on to perform “Trap or Die.” Soon after the UGK legend’s cameo, the band left the stage and Jeezy performed some of his notable remix verses, including Rocko’s “Umma Do Me” and recent G-Unit signee Shawty Lo’s “Dey Know Remix.” The next guest to hit the stage was Fabolous, who performed “Flexin” from Jeezy’s The Real Is Back mixtape from earlier this year. The Brooklyn rapper was then given time to perform his own hit “You Be Killin’ Em,” to the crowd’s delight. He then went into another joint cut with Jeezy called “Rollin’ ” before leaving the stage for good. After demonstrating his crowd-control skills by kicking an a cappella version of “Win” from the Real Is Back mixtape, Jeezy gave up the stage up to the LOX. The native NYC rappers got the crowd amped, performing a medley of their hits including Sheek Louch’s “Kiss Your Ass Goodbye,” Styles P’s “I Get High” and Jadakiss’ “We Gone Make It.” The show hit a lull upon Jeezy’s return with “Tear It Up,” about as close to a slow jam as you’ll get, before the energy inside the Highline Ballroom rose again with “Don’t Get Caught.” He then took it to his sophomore album, The Inspiration, and performed the R. Kelly-assisted “Go Getta” before returning to his debut with the Akon-aided “Soul Survivor.” With the show approaching its close, Jeezy declared that his much-delayed fourth album, Thug Motivation 103, is on the way before launching into “Lose My Mind,” one of said project’s first singles. After calling New York “my second home,” Jeezy closed the show with “I Luv It,” the first single from his Inspiration album. But before leaving the stage to a thunderous ovation, Jeezy made sure to tell the crowd, which was now beginning to head to the exits, that he had just gotten word that TM 103 will be in stores September 20. Pitbull, Marc Anthony Brave Heat In ‘Rain Over Me’ Video

Miami MC joined by Salsa crooner in sexy new clip for Pit’s summer-ready jam. By Jocelyn Vena Pitbull and Marc Anthony in ‘Rain Over Me’ Photo: PoloGrounds It’s a good time to be Pitbull . When he’s not throwing parties with Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer in his “Give Me Everything” video, Pit is busy helping Marc Anthony find his groove in the sexy, sleek new “Rain Over Me” video. The single “Rain Over Me” is off the rapper’s Planet Pit album, which dropped earlier this summer. In the clip, VMA-nominated Pitbull and newly separated Marc Anthony take the party to the only place where it doesn’t rain — the desert. So, sure it doesn’t rain in the desert, but well-tailored suits and pretty ladies (and some product placement) are aplenty in the barren setting. While the guys hang outside in the sweltering heat amid a shack-style location, a group of ladies swim around in a pool elsewhere trying to keep cool as the song’s hot beats play in the background. The conclusion seems to be that if you party hard enough in the desert — and look cool while doing it — you can eventually make it rain. The duo not enjoy the company of beautiful ladies, they eventually find themselves drenched. And there’s really no better way to cool off after all that time in the sun. “Rain Over Me” is just the latest summer jam from the Miami rapper. He recently spoke to MTV News about what makes the perfect summer tune. “People need to escape from everything that’s going on. And … if they’re going to spend the last $20 they made — and they only made $50 for the week — they want to spend it having a good time, not running into drama,” he said. “So I’m more than blessed to be a part of this summer and the great music out there.” And “Rain Over Me” isn’t the first time Pitbull has collaborated with someone in the former Lopez-Anthony household. Earlier this year, he found chart success with J.Lo on her equally club-ready hit “On the Floor.” What do you think of Pit and Marc Anthony’s video? Tell us in the comments! VMA Nominee Leader Katy Perry, By The Numbers

It’s not just those nine VMA nods — it’s been a record-setting year for Katy. By Gil Kaufman Katy Perry Photo: C. Flanigan/ FilmMagic There’s no other way to say it: Katy Perry is having a moment. Actually, she’s having 525,600 moments, as in 365 days of record-smashing, parent-upsetting, whipped cream-spurting, alien-loving, Indian wedding-having minutes of awesomeness. And what better way to top it off than with a field-leading nine MTV Video Music Award nominations? Perry leads this year’s field , as well she should, given that her clips for such hits as “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” “Teenage Dream,” “Firework” and “E.T.” have become modern classics and racked up millions of online views. But the year has been about a whole lot more than gummy video goodness, so we decided to take a look back and crunch some numbers on the Year in Katy: Explore our “Katy Perry: By The Numbers” infographic: 4 million : Number of digital copies Perry’s “E.T.” has sold so far. In fact, it joins her hits “California Gurls,” “Firework,” “Hot N Cold” and “I Kissed a Girl” in reaching that mark. 48 : That’s the record Perry shattered for the most consecutive weeks with a single inside the top 10, beating out Swedish popsters Ace of Base. 2 : Number of beefs Perry got into with Lady Gaga and Britney Spears. Though it was quickly squashed, for a minute it seemed as if the former Christian singer had dissed Gaga’s “Alejandro” video for its use of religious imagery . Months later, Perry denied taking a swipe at Spears over product placement in Britney’s “Hold it Against Me” video. 4 : Perry came this close to making history this summer when it looked like “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” would become the fifth single from Teenage Dream to reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. If she had hit the top (she stalled, ironically at #4), she would have become the first female artist to ever have five #1 songs off the same album and the first artist of either gender to do it since Michael Jackson (in the period between 1987 and 1988). 2 : Number of times Perry has appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine since Teenage Dream came out. 17 : Shots of Perry’s nearly naked rear end in the “California Gurls” video . (Not like we sat there and counted or anything.) Billions : Amount of Gummi Bears that Perry offended when she cast some nude, crude and middle-finger-flipping rude candy bears in the “Gurls” video. 9 : record-setting number of weeks Eminem’s Recovery would have spent at #1 had Teenage Dream not rained on its parade. 0 : Total number of celebrities besides Perry who have had their “Sesame Street” bits shelved because they showed too much cleavage. 2 : Number of elephants (Laxmi and Mala) involved in Perry and Russell Brand ‘s wedding in India in October. Also involved in the wedding? Jugglers, acrobats, a drum troupe and traditional Indian Rajasthani folk singers and dancers. 0 : Number of famous couples besides Perry and Brand who have flirted and gone on a date and then gotten married after being introduced at the VMAs . The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live on Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Freddy Krueger confirmed for Mortal Kombat

Original post:

The rumor that Freddy Krueger (from the Nightmare on Elm Street films) and Jason Voorhees (from the Friday the 13th movies) are both headed to the latest Mortal Kombat has been floating around for a while now. Having those two blood loving, grody bastards in a series that first made a name for itself with the word “Fatality” makes perfect sense. Alexandria Daddario and Tania Raymonde to be Chainsaw Fodder in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D [PICS]

Following in the frightening footsteps of Halloween , Friday the 13th , and A Nightmare on Elm Street , Tobe Hooper ’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) is the newest horror franchise that studio heads are hoping to bring back from the dead. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D will hit theaters next year with a new and (maybe) improved spin on the classic B-movie tale of chainsaws and the cannibal rednecks who love them. The main course on this diabolical menu is Alexandra Daddario , who flashed a sexy peek at her panties in Hall Pass (2011). Alexandria will play Heather, a young woman who is summoned to a small Texas town to collect the inheritance left to her by a distant relative. When she arrives, Heather finds out the estate includes a live item…her cousin Leatherface . Tania Raymonde , who bared lip-smacking seat meat in Elsewhere (2009) and Wild Cherry (2009), co-stars as Heather’s BFF, who almost certainly will be Texas Chainsaw Massacred before the end credits roll. Gas up your power tool with sexy pics of Alexandria Daddario and Tania Raymonde after the jump!

How to Cross a Street in Vietnam

R.I.P. Sean Hoare… Whistleblower Who Blew The Lid Off News Corp.’s Hacking Scandal Found Dead

The man who responsible for exposing the hacking going on at News of the World was found dead but police are saying it’s not suspicious??? What the hell is going on!?!? Sean Hoare, the former News of the World showbiz reporter who was the first named journalist to allege Andy Coulson was aware of phone hacking by his staff, has been found dead, the Guardian has learned. Hoare, who worked on the Sun and the News of the World with Coulson before being dismissed for drink and drugs problems, is said to have been found dead at his Watford home. Hertfordshire police would not confirm his identity, but the force said in a statement: “At 10.40am today [Monday 18 July] police were called to Langley Road, Watford, following the concerns for the welfare of a man who lives at an address on the street. Upon police and ambulance arrival at a property, the body of a man was found. The man was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after. “The death is currently being treated as unexplained, but not thought to be suspicious. Police investigations into this incident are ongoing.” Just to give a little more insight on how crucial Hoare was to bringing a spotlight to the ethical violations by News of the World, he opened up to the New York Times when they were investigating the phone hacking case, telling the paper that his editor Coulson knew of the phone hacking and actively encouraged his staff to intercept the phone calls of celebrities in the pursuit of exclusives. He later spoke to the BBC, claiming that Coulson personally asked him to tap into phones and saying that Coulson’s claim that he was unaware of the practice was “a lie, it is simply a lie”. Hoare spoke to the New York Times again last week, explaining how reporters at the News of the World were able to use police technology to locate people using their mobile phone signals in exchange for payments to police officers. He said journalists were able to use a technique called “pinging” which measured the distance between mobile handsets and a number of phone masts to pinpoint its location. Hoare gave further details about the use of “pinging” to the Guardian last week. He described how reporters would ask a news desk executive to obtain the location of a target: “Within 15 to 30 minutes someone on the news desk would come back and say ‘right that’s where they are.’” He said: “You’d just go to the news desk and they’d just come back to you. You don’t ask any questions. You’d consider it a job done. The chain of command is one of absolute discipline and that’s why I never bought into it, like with Andy saying he wasn’t aware of it and all that. That’s bollocks.” He said he would stand by everything he had told the New York Times about “pinging”. “I don’t know how often it happened. That would be wrong of me. But if I had access as a humble reporter … “ He admitted he had had problems with drink and drugs and had been in rehab. “But that’s irrelevant,” he said. “There’s more to come. This is not going to go away.” Hoare named a private investigator who he said had links with the News of the World, adding: “He may want to talk now because I think what you’ll find now is a lot of people are going to want to cover their arse.” Speaking to another Guardian journalist last week, Hoare repeatedly expressed the hope that the hacking scandal would lead to journalism in general being cleaned up and said he had decided to blow the whistle on the activities of some of his former News of the World colleagues with that aim in mind. He also said he had been injured the previous weekend while taking down a marquee erected for a children’s party. He said he had broken his nose and badly injured his foot when a relative accidentally struck him with a heavy pole from the marquee. Hoare also emphasised that he was not making any money from telling his story. Hoare, who has been treated for drug and alcohol problems, reminisced about partying with former pop stars and said he missed the days when he was able to go out on the town. Hmmmm… So was his death cause by drinking, drugs, the after effects of taking down a marquee or… whistle blower haters??? Considering the police were in on the phone hacking, it doesn’t seem entirely out of the realm of possibility that they could be involved in the cover up of a suspicious murder. This is real suspect. Just sayin’! Source
