Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars contestant Bristol Palin is never one to shy away from controversy, but the people threatening her life may want to chill out. Yes, Bristol says she’s receiving regular death threats this fall. “People have such opinions about me. It’s like ‘I hate you, I want you dead and I want to shoot my TV,’” she explains of her public perception. “I don’t read any of it.” When you ruffle feathers on your own show, though, you may not have a choice. Bristol tries not to pay attention to negative comments from “haters” … but she faced some harsh comments from the judges on Dancing With the Stars this week. Calling out Bristol’s partner Mark Ballas for breaking the show’s rules with his choreography, Carrie Ann said, “You slammed us in the face, so we’re slamming back.” “She got pretty ghetto there,” Bristol says of Carrie Ann. “That’s pretty much what it was: a ghetto comment. But despite the haters and the harassment, Bristol has made it through to another round of competition, surviving last night’s Dancing With the Stars results show. How does she respond to making it through despite her low scores? “We do see the positive side of it,” Bristol Palin said of advancing. “We did get voted through even though we had the lowest scores. Nick Cannon has weighed in on the Mariah Carey vs. Nicki Minaj feud – and you’ll never guess which side he’s taking. “My wife is the strongest and classiest woman that I’ve ever met,” Cannon said today on Access Hollywood Live when asked about Minaj going off on Carey during an early Season 12 audition episode. “If you watch the video, she just maintains her composure… I don’t think she’s moved by the theatrics and pageantry of it all. ‘While I’m doing different songs, they’re going to sound country, ‘ latest ‘American Idol’ castoff tells MTV News. After all, in her run to the top five, she’d always been consistently good (and occasionally great ), and, really, with some lesser contestants remaining (cough, Hollie, cough), it truly didn’t seem like it was her time to head home. Still, to hear her tell it, Laine wasn’t surprised to be voted off the show, and she thinks consistency had a lot to do with it. Then again, she’ll also admit that it was also her biggest asset too. “My struggle was my strength at the same time: I always made the song country, and I got a lot of flak for it,” she told MTV News on Monday (May 7). “I’d watch my YouTube videos back, and I’d read some of the comments, which you’re not supposed to — but that is your voters and that is your fans, so you want to know what they think — and a lot of them would be like, ‘Oh, all she can sing is county,’ and I’m like, ‘No, I sang a Lady Gaga song, I did Soul Train [week], but anything I sing is going to sound country.’ “So that was my struggle and my strength, knowing that I want everything I sing to be country,” she continued. “But people don’t understand that, while I’m doing different songs, they’re going to sound country. Just like when Phillip [Phillips] sings a song, it’s going to have that raspy sound.” And true to her words, Laine said she’s going to remain country to the core in her post-“Idol” career — she’s already making plans to move from Mississippi to Nashville to record her debut album — but with a few weeks off before hitting the road with her fellow contestants, her plans are much simpler: She can’t wait to head home and just enjoy herself. “This will be the first time I’ve been home since February, and I just really want to spend some time with my family and friends,” she said. “I’m so excited, you don’t even know! I want to go all around Brandon and see all my friends and hang out at the car wash, sit on the tailgate of the truck and just talk to people. Josh Hutcherson, a co-founder of LGBT group Straight But Not Narrow, will receive the Vanguard Award at the 23rd annual GLAAD Media Awards on April 21. The organization made the announcement today, adding of The Hunger Games star: “Emerging as a leader in a new generation of equality advocates, Josh Hutcherson has consistently used his platform to help young people understand that no one should face discrimination simply because of who they are. Josh’s commitment to achieving equality for every American is a message he carries in his work both on screen and off, earning him the honor of being GLAAD’s youngest-ever Vanguard Award recipient.” Josh Hutcherson PSA Ellen DeGeneres will host the ceremony, which will include a performance by Jason Mraz and appearances by Betty White, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Joshua Jackson, Kat Graham and others.
