Marriage is only for someone who’s “a good citizen,” according to the sheriff of Bristol County, where the former New England Patriot is being held without bail for the execution-style murder of his friend. A marriage could shield fiancee Shayanna Jenkins — Hernandez’s high school sweetheart and the mother of his seven-month-old daughter — from having to testify against him. “I don’t subscribe to that,” Bristol County Sheriff Thomas M. Hodgson told USA Today Sports, speaking of jailhouse weddings. “I feel that those rights are things that you access on the outside, if you’re a good citizen,” the sheriff said, promising, “We’ll do everything we can to not have that happen.” Meanwhile, the murder evidence continued to mount against the troubled tight end, with a buddy now reportedly providing key dirt against him and a small stash of potentially highly incriminating evidence — including clothing and ammo — being seized from the Boston-area condominium he rented. Cops have poured through Hernandez’s rented condominium in Franklin, Mass., retrieving a white hooded sweatshirt and a baseball cap similar to items the tight end was allegedly caught on surveillance video wearing on the night his pal, Odin Lloyd, was fatally shot.
