Keanu Reeves: The Ultimate Gentleman

Keanu Reeves may be one of the worst actors ever to achieve A-list status, but the man is true gentleman. This iPhone video of him on the subway shows why! Giving up his seat to a female passenger – unprompted, and unaware he was being filmed secretly by some sketchball across the aisle – Reeves showed he’s a class act. Although, if you think about it, Neo alone knows the truth about reality and the impending war against its controllers. He’s got bigger problems than getting a seat on the train. My Bieber Experiences happened on 11-11-11 & 12-11-11. My…

My Bieber Experiences happened on 11-11-11 & 12-11-11.  My name is Vicky, I am 18 years old and I live in Madrid, Spain.  It all started when Euroclub (radio program) said they were drawing passes to watch, ‘El Hormiguero’ and to our surprise, the winner was my friend @lorenamagia! She won and invited me to go with her. It was 17:30 and there was a small queue for the set. We met Ana & Paula, who were also contest winners. Us 4 all stayed together. After a long wait, we went to the set of ‘El Hormiguero’. My friend Lorena and I sat and Ana Paula and sat below us. We were all very excited and sang ‘Baby’ and ‘Somebody To Love’. They began to record the show and after all the shouting and applauding like crazy, suddenly came out JUSTIN BIEBER. He came by and touched the hands of the fans who were closest. During the commercials, we were told there were gifts for us and between Justin, Pablo Motos and some other guys, they distributed the boxes. Thank God Justin began to distribute the boxes on our side and we looked eachother into the eyes and smiled at us all the time. On 11/12/11 , it started with the sound of the alarm for 5 am. We took the subway and at 7:17, we arrived at Barajas airport . I honestly thought when we got there we would see not him or anyone in the team. Circling the airport, suddenly my friend Lorraine grabs me my the arm. “What Lorena? What Lorena?” And suddenly in front of our face  was Allison, Dan Kanter, Alfredo Flores, etc. I like ahhhhhhhh DEATH. We approached them, we talked a little and took some photos, I start to mourn. We ask them all for Justin and Allison told us that he was not there at that time. After my picture with Dan Kanter, I said to him, “You are amazing’ and he said, “It’s my job” I asked him if he could give my letter to Justin and he said yes and I thanked him. Kenny then appeared and we went towards the van. Then the door opened and JUSTIN appears behind him . Selena was there too, but she just stayed back. Justin greeted Dan and I said, “Can I hug you please?” And he said, “Yes, meet my Dan?” I said yes and hugged him and said, “I love you so much”. We were going to take the picture. It was still on video so I just took screenshots of it,  I’m so happy! Then he hugged the others, gave kisses, took pictures and while all this, I said “I admire you so much” He signed a CD and said “Swag”. Then Justin said, “Te amo”. We were there until they left and said goodbye to them with a huge smile, tears of joy and very proud of him and the whole team. Kidrauhl is the same person we’ve seen these days, the person for whom I have always and will put his hand into the fire knowing with certainty that I do not burn. I believe in him as an artist and person. Still Kidrauhl Thank you, I love you. -@vickypeacee My first MBE! See the article here: My Bieber Experiences happened on 11-11-11 & 12-11-11. My…

Occupy Wall Street Takes ‘Action’ Through New York

Protesters clash with police in Zuccotti Park on two-month anniversary of Occupy movement. By James Montgomery Protesters march in Occupy’s Day of Action in lower Manhattan Photo: AFP NEW YORK — Protesters marched en masse on the New York Stock Exchange, clashed with police officers in Zuccotti Park, and planned ambitious takeovers of the New York City Subway line Thursday (November 17), the two-month anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Dubbed the International Day of Action , it began early (around 7:30 a.m.) with a gathering in Zuccotti, the movement’s home until earlier this week, when the NYPD forcibly removed protesters from the park. They then began marching toward the Stock Exchange, holding signs, waving banners and chanting “All Day, All Week, Occupy Wall Street.” The police presence was heavy, with officers in full riot gear, and from the onset, the NYPD made it clear that the Occupiers were forbidden from marching in the street — since they didn’t have a parade permit — and barricades lined the path that led up to Wall Street. As the crowds grew closer to their intended target, they were rebuffed by officers, many clutching their clubs, and forced to separate into smaller groups, who marched up and down Broadway, looking for an unguarded entrance into the financial district, which had reportedly been dubbed “a frozen zone” by the NYPD. Click through to “Voices From Occupy Wall Street” — our interactive photo gallery — and get to know 20 young demonstrators’ motivations, hopes and goals. A mass of roughly 200 protesters headed south, attempting to cross Broadway in front of the Trinity Church, only to be blocked by police in riot gear. As tour buses passed by — with curious onlookers snapping photos for the folks back home — they chanted, “We pay your salary!” and “These are our streets!” until, peacefully, the barricade was lifted, and the march continued. As they walked, they held handmade signs that read “Castrate the Bull” and “Tear Down the Wall,” while the NYPD followed on motorcycles, leading the protesters to chant “The cops are marching with us!” The mood changed once the crowd managed to cross Broadway, moving north toward the heavily barricaded entrance to Wall Street itself. As they passed by the Chase Bank building, they were greeted by several employees (and even more police officers) who catcalled, “Why don’t you do something real ?” The protesters responded with chants of “F— Chase Bank!” and “We are the 99 percent, and so are you,” while a police officer yelled into a bullhorn for them to clear the sidewalk, or be arrested. Three Occupiers, failing to move, were taken away in handcuffs, as the crowd cheered and throngs of media jostled to photograph the action. Finding any and all entrances to Wall Street blocked, the protesters turned and headed back to Zuccotti Park, which had been fortified by police barricades and a heavy presence of officers. As the overcast skies finally opened up, many attempted to seek shelter beneath the park’s trees, only to be turned away by the NYPD. One officer shoved a man, and as protesters attempted to remove the barricades, there were several other scuffles, which led to one protester being led out of the park with a badly bloodied head and reports of an officer being cut on the hand by an Occupier wielding a piece of broken glass. At 3 p.m., with a steady rain falling, protesters began marching up Broadway once again, this time en route to Union Square, to join a student strike. At 5 p.m., they’ll board the subway — which already is heavily fortified by police officers — down to the Brooklyn Bridge, where they’ll march across carrying candles, a protest dubbed “the festival of lights.” Related Videos Inside Occupy Wall Street Related Photos Occupy’s ‘Day Of Action’ Swarms Wall Street

REVIEW: Attack the Block Doesn’t Cut Deeply, But At Least Offers Lo-Fi Thrills

Attack the Block stems from an intriguing, clever idea: What if the neighborhood thugs you hope not to encounter on your walk home from the subway turn out to be the very people who save the Earth from alien invaders? The problem is that writer-director Joe Cornish — a cohort of Edgar Wright’s, and, along with Wright, one of the writers of Steven Spielberg’s upcoming The Adventures of Tintin — doesn’t take the idea quite far enough: He begins to explore some pretty complex racial and class issues, only to let them drift out of his grasp. The picture’s finale isn’t as smart as it ought to be. Cornish tries to make a damning social statement, but the only thing you take away from the movie is how cool it is to kick alien ass.

Alicia Keys Looks Back On ‘Coming Of Age’ Debut

Songs in A Minor was ‘just my truth at that time,’ Keys says on 10th anniversary of album’s release. By Rebecca Thomas Alicia Keys performs onstage during the BET Awards ’11 Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images By the time 20-year-old Alicia Keys came on the scene in 2001, a 21st-century “around the way” girl from New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen, reigning rap&B princess Lauryn Hill seemed to be coming undone. Just a month after Keys’ classic Songs in A Minor was released, Hill taped an edition of MTV’s “Unplugged” during which she told the audience her “public persona had held her hostage.” Eventually, Hill gave up battling fame and retreated from the industry altogether. And it was in this landscape that Keys made her debut. For girls looking for a different voice, Keys, a corn-rowed beauty who still walked with a tomboy’s gait, proved to be that figure. When MTV News caught up with Keys last week, on the eve of the 10th anniversary re-release of the piano-driven A Minor (collector’s and deluxe editions will hit e-tailers and retailers on Tuesday), she told us why she thought fans connected so deeply to her and the Grammy-winning album she calls her “coming of age.” “I think that people related to Songs in A Minor because it was just my truth at that time,” Keys reflected of the J Records album helmed largely by her and production partner Kerry “Krucial” Brothers. “And I really wanted to just be me. I didn’t want to be anybody else, I didn’t want to be, you know, that girl with all the super fancy dresses, and all the, like, big … hair!” she said, bursting into laughter. Indeed, Keys favored midriff-baring tops, snug jeans and the (relentlessly copied) variations on zigzag spider braids, coming off as just a more polished version of the girls you bumped into riding the subway. Even now, one of the best-selling recording artists of her generation, Keys endearingly sprinkles her speech with street dialect. “I just wanted to be myself, and being myself was like being every girl I knew, you know? Being every girl in Harlem, in Brooklyn, in Queens. So I think people really could, hopefully, feel that.” Keys will make a hometown stop with her piano-only mini-tour on Thursday at New York’s Beacon Theatre, where she’ll revisit mega-singles like “Fallin’ ” and “A Woman’s Worth,” as well as her personal favorite “Troubles” and some tracks from the Songs sessions that fans will find on the new editions.
