Sunday night should have marked an important occasion for both Casey Affleck and Sylvester Stallone. The former was nominated for (and later won) Best Actor in a Motion Picture at the Golden Globe Awards for his role in Manchester by the Sea. The latter, meanwhile, had the honor of his daughters all walking the stage as Miss Golden Globe 2017. And yet… Stallone was nowhere to be seen during the show. Is Miss Golden Globe 2017 a totally random and weird and sexist distinction to still be around at this point in time? Absolutely. But that’s not why sources say the camera never cut away to Stallone. It wasn’t due to a lack of pride. It was due to Stallone and his wife, Jennifer Flavin, walking up to their assigned table just before the ceremony got underway. According to People Magazine and other insiders, an awkward situation ensued when there was only one open seat available. Moreover, these same insiders say that others seated around the table – Affleck, Matt Damon and Manchester by the Sea writer-director Kenneth Lonergan to name a few – didn’t do anything to accommodate the Stallones. The couple grew irate and left for the green room, where they remained for the duration of the event. A source cites “confusion” over the seating arrangement, but emphasizes that no one meant any ill will toward Stallone and his wife. “There weren’t enough seats and so there was confusion, but it wasn’t personal against him,” says the source, adding that an additional chair was brought to the table and seats facing the stage were eventually freed up. By this time, however, Stallone had no interest in returning to the table. Later in the night, Affleck crossed paths with Stallone. This was after he had taken home one of the most coveted trophies of the evening. He tried to apologize for the seating snafu, but Stallone was not receptive. He barely gave Casey the time of day. The Walking Dead Season 7 B kicks off in just a few weeks and we’re all dying to find out what’s going to happen next for our favorite group of survivors. AMC has now released three promotional photos and a synopsis that sheds light on what will be coming in the final 8 episodes of The Walking Dead Season 7. When we left off in Season 7A, a large portion of the group reunited at Hilltop with the intention of finding a way to take Negan down… once and for all. With the Saviors being such a big, complex group, all of our favorite characters are going to to need to keep their wits about them if they have any hope at surviving. Here’s the official scoop. The first half of Season 7 saw Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the group broken by Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), forced to fall under his will and brutally convinced to live under his rules. The second half of the season will focus on preparing for war and gathering the supplies and numbers to take Negan down once and for all. Rick’s group will find out yet again that the world isn’t what they thought it was. It’s much bigger than anything they’ve seen so far. While they have a singular purpose – to defeat Negan – it won’t come easy. More importantly, victory will require more than Alexandria. They need the numbers of the Kingdom and the Hilltop, but, similar to how Rick felt, Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Gregory (Xander Berkeley) do not want bloodshed. To convince them otherwise will take more than speeches. Rick is confident as he will see his group and many others band together with the common goal of taking down Negan. But no amount of planning will prepare the group for all-out war with Negan and his army. It sure sounds like we’re in for a wild ride as we close out the season, but can we really get to the end without any more of our favorite characters dying? Probably not. As has been well documented over the past several weeks, all is not calm, cool or even collected within the Sister Wives universe. There’s a whole lot of in-fighting taking place between the Browns. There was that whole catfishing scandal surrounding Meri, which prompted rumors that she would split from Kody … … which was followed by talk that Kody ad Robyn may be done for good. But while the relationship between Kody and his four better halves may have seen better days, there’s one connection in this reality star’s life that is as strong as ever: The bond between Kody and daughter Mariah. Yes, even in the face of a bombshell dropped by Mariah on last week’s installment of Sister Wives. But we still weren’t sure how Mariah’s famous family members were going to react. On last night’s episode, Kody admitted that he was “in a state of shock processing” everything that Mariah said about her sexuality, which included the following admission: “It’s always been there – it’s always been something I pushed away because I was scared. I think my biggest fear has always been to be gay. “So I didn’t let myself accept it because it was wrong – I was told [by members of the church] that it was wrong and that I would be a bad person.” Said Kody at one point: “We’re not happy Mariah’s gay; we’re happy Mariah knows herself.” He then went into more detail on Twitter. “A surprise to me. Required some deep thought,” Kody wrote of his reaction to the news. “After checking to see if she was sure, I just needed her to know she was safe.” The reality star added that The Big Man Upstairs made acceptance a lot easier. “God has prepared my heart and mind for 15 years. Now @mariahlian can feel safe being openly gay with our family.” Later on in the evening, Kody credited Charles Dickens for helping to open his mind, while also saying it’s sad that some of his “gay friends lose their religion.” He supposedly told one to start his own “church fellowship.” Say what you want about Kody Brown (we certainly have) and his unusual family dynamic. But he appears to have struggled with his daughter’s sexuality, eventually realizing that she’s happy with who she is and that’s all that matters. So some credit must be given to Brown for arriving at that conclusion. Meryl Streep did not win a Golden Globe Award for her performance in Florence Foster Jenkins on Sunday night. And yet the veteran actress still managed to make the most memorable speech of the night. By a long shot. As you very likely heard by now, Streep accepted the Cecil B. DeMille during the ceremony, using her platform to call out Donald Trump for his frequent bullying and his disrespectful behavior. (Technically, Streep did not actually call Trump out; she never uttered his name.) After giving props to Hollywood for its diversity, and making a crack about how Trump wants to “kick out” foreigners, Streep arrived at the crux of her speech. She focused on the time in 2015 when Trump mocked a disabled reporter named Serge F. Kovaleski and told the crowd: “This instinct to humiliate when it’s modeled by someone in the public platform by someone powerful, it filters down into everybody’s life because it kind of gives permission for other people to do the same thing… “Disrespect invites disrespect. Violence incites violence.” Streep was given a rousing ovation by all in attendance, with many in Hollywood jumping on Twitter to sing her praises. Aside from pointing out that Streep was a Hillary Clinton “lover” and a “liberal movie [person],” Trump went on to slam the star as “overrated,” a distinction he has previously used for Megyn Kelly, Jon Stewart and the Broadway production Hamilton. Streep, of course, has been nominated for 19 Academy Awards over the course of her career. But she’s only won three times. Overall, Streep has been up for 335 awards, yet has only taken home 164 trophies. That means she wins fewer than half of the times she’s nominated. And people want to call her The Greatest Actress of Her Generation?!? Some might say that these numbers lend credence to Trump’s argument. Hey, so how about that big shocker that happened on Sister Wives Sunday night when Mariah Brown announced that she’s gay ? She sat down her parents, Kody and Meri Brown, and the other Sister Wives, Robyn, Christine and Janelle — and the cameras, of course — and came right out of that closet. And good for her, right? The religion she grew up in, Fundamentalist Mormonism, is strongly against homosexuality in every way, shape and form. Although her parents have spoken out in support of marriage equality in the past, it still must have been hard to come out. And in a seriously heartbreaking new interview Mariah just did, she confirmed that difficult doesn’t begin to describe it. “I remember being in church, and they talked about how being gay was bad,” she says. “One bishop told me gay people were selfish.” Thankfully, she adds that “none of that came from my parents” but only “from church and the people I was around.” Poor Mariah says that things were so tough when she was younger, that “If you were to ask me my biggest fear, it would have been to be gay.” “It was something I was so scared of in myself.” “People say they try to ‘pray away the gay,’ but I wouldn’t even let myself think the word,” she reveals. “I just wouldn’t even go there.” Mariah recalls that she fought her feelings so hard and tried to repress everything that she began suffering from insomnia and anxiety. Things were like that for a long time, but then when she was a senior in college, she met a gay man while touring a college, and she had a long talk with him. “That was sort of the start of realizing this is okay,” she says. “My whole life I tried to shut it out. I was finally letting myself be real.” “I had this image I had to uphold, and when I started letting that go, I realized I didn’t have to be the person I thought I had to be.” And that was true — every single one of her parents fully support her. Her mother, Meri, says “I’m so proud of her for having the strength.” Her father, Kody, candidly explained that when “you come from an Old Testament religion, you are not excited that your child comes out.” “I thought about this years ago,” he says, and “I made a decision.” “My job as a dad is to love and respect and not to judge.” As for Janelle, she states that “We’re just happy she’s figured out who she is. It’s tremendous when you see a kid do that.” Christine, for her part, adds that when Mariah came out, “Everyone jumped up and hugged her and congratulated her.” “She is so radiant and just so beautiful that when she tells people I feel like most of them will be ok because she is so confident and so secure with being gay.” “It’s wonderful.” And Robyn concludes with, “No matter what our religion says, what my heart says is that she is our daughter and she is a person and she has a right to her truth.” It’s enough to warm your heart, right? We give you a good deal of grief sometimes, and in some cases it’s warranted, but way to come through in the end here, Sister Wives. Way to be.
Kim Kardashian is doing all she can to distract folks from the possibility that she really did get her butt stuck in Kanye West’s gold toilet seat . How else to explain her social media photo barrage after months and months of silence? On Tuesday, Kardashian celebrated the new year by updating her Facebook profile and by sharing a video of her and her family spending some precious time at home. And now the reality star has taken an even bigger step in her return to the pop culture universe: She’s posted her first selfie of 2017! Wait, that deserves more exclamation marks: She’s posted her first selfie of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s not that we’ve been keeping track of Kim Kardashian selfies in the new year (we swear, we haven’t!); it’s just that Kim herself revealed this fact in the caption of the image. “First selfie of 2017 w my mama,” the 36-year old wrote on Snapchat along with the photo. She’s sitting in the backseat of a car in the picture, flashing a peace sign and still rocking that ridiculous lip ring. Elsewhere on Wednesday, Kardashian posted her second photo to Facebook in two days, this time posing sweetly with son Saint West. And in case you weren’t certain who was in the picture, Kim captioned it with the words “my son.” She also included a heart emoji. Kardashian has been spending a great deal of time at home with Saint and daughter North over the past three months. She was robbed at gunpoint while in Paris back on October 3, somehow surviving a harrowing experience that featured her hands being tied behind her back and a group of armed assailants demanding to know the location of her jewelry. They eventually made off with over $4 million worth of Kim’s property. Kim was so shaken up by the incident that she took an extended break from social media. She hasn’t said a word about what happened, either. But numerous sources have said that the mother of two was afraid for her life, screaming at the robbers that she has two young children at home. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West: Are They Together? Then, late last year, just as Kim was reportedly prepared to return to the spotlight, Kanye was hospitalized for some kind of nervous breakdown. He spent nine days under the supervision of doctors and is allegedly still seeking professional help. These events have supposedly taken their toll on Kimye, with Kim and Kanye divorce rumors running rampant around the Internet. Will the couple actually take this legal step? We doubt it, but neither star has come out and shot the chatter down. Although one of the latest pictures Kim shared online was the following snapshot of her, her kids and her husband. She wrote “family” as a caption. Might this have been her simple way of telling everyone to chill the heck out because all is good between her and Kanye? Probably. Or it was her way of positioning herself as a strong family person so that she can use that against West when the two do eventually split. It’s hard to say at this point. As previously noted, Donald Trump has failed to attract any big names to perform at his Presidential inauguration on January 20. He claims A-Listers want to appear at the event, but he’s been turning down their requests because they did “NOTHING” for Hillary Clinton are are not “real PEOPLE.” Trump has managed to secure Jackie Evancho for the inauguration, however, giving a major platform to the former America’s Got Talent runner-up and significantly increasing the Google search frequency of the following question: Who the heck is Jackie Evancho?!? She’s someone who is on the rise, Trump claims. She’s a singer with a bright future whose decision to make herself front and center for The Donald’s big day this month is paying off, Trump argues. Bigly, he seems to think. On Wednesday night, Trump once again focused on something very important via his Twitter account, touting Evancho’s impressive album sales ever since she announced her inauguration participation. “Jackie Evancho’s album sales have skyrocketed after announcing her Inauguration performance,” the President-Elect wrote, adding: “Some people just don’t understand the “Movement.” We guess not. But other people just don’t understand basic math. Which could maybe be forgiven or ignored if one of these people was not going to become the 45th President of the United States in just a few weeks. Because Jackie Evancho’s album sales have not skyrocketed. They’ve done the complete opposite of skyrocket. They’ve plummeted. In bigly fashion. To be specific, Evancho has fallen 41 spots on the Billboard 200 in just a week: Now, we don’t mean to heap criticism on a 16-year old or to highlight her failure. Really, we don’t. We can understand the bind she was in, unsure how to propel her career to the next level and figuring that a prominent spot at a Presidential inauguration was too tempting to pass up. That’s fine. We get it. And it’s far more disturbing to the safety of the United States when Trump is lying about Russian hacking and CIA intelligence briefings than when he’s lying about the success or failure of a particular artist. But still. Come on! Is Trump unaware that Billboard and other outlets actually track album sales? That this was such a ridiculously blatant misleading of the public because it was so easy to fact-check? We’ve spent far too long trying to get inside Donald Trump’s brain already here, haven’t we? At this point, it should be clear that anyone trying to make sense out of anything Trump does is wasting is or her time. As actual successful singer Bruce Springsteen recently said , we should be spending far more time being afraid of what Trump may do and take whatever steps we can to prevent it. Call your Congressman. Attend a rally. Get out and vote in the mid-term elections next year. Reporters, slam Trump as a liar every single time he lies. And Jackie Evancho? Just keep your head down and sing your heart out. We feel for you. But this is not going to help your career, no matter what Trump seems to believe. Mariah Carey is finally taking responsibility for her debacle of a performance on New Year’s Eve. Kind of. Sort of. Okay, maybe not responsibility , exactly. But the singer has opened up extensively about the embarrassing “concert” in Times Square over this past weekend.. and at least she isn’t supporting allegations that she was sabotaged. By now, you probably are familiar with what transpired on Saturday night/Sunday morning: As the featured artist on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest , Carey took to the stage and immediately experienced technical difficulties. She messed with her earpiece. She couldn’t hear the background music. She planned to lip sync, but had no way of matching up her mouth to the lyrics. So she basically gave up, yammering away on stage and saying she would simply turn over the job of singing to the “audience” at one point. As Jenny McCarthy rightly pointed out, it was a train wreck of epic proportions all around. Watch snippets for yourself below: Mariah Carey: Worst New Year’s Eve Performance Ever? Carey Tweeted “Sh-t happens” shortly after this so-called performance went viral, which likely would have been enough. The story would have pretty much died if that had been it. But then members of her team tried to blame the incident on Dick Clark Productions, arguing that Carey was set up to fail by producers. Why didn’t the program cut to commercial once the technical difficulties became obvious , the singer’s rep argued? Because it wanted to milk her breakdown for ratings , Mariah’s camp has said. In response to this assertion, the production company fired back that it had “no involvement in the challenges associated with Ms. Carey’s New Year’s Eve performance.” So… yeah. It’s been a pretty giant mess all around. Even if Mariah’s boobs did look terrific during the Times Square humiliation: Now, however, Carey has spoken to Entertainment Weekly, walking the fine line between owning up to her lack of preparation and blaming others for what happened. “All I can say is Dick Clark was an incredible person and I was lucky enough to work with him when I first started in the music business,” Carey tells EW , adding: “I’m of the opinion that Dick Clark would not have let an artist go through that and he would have been as mortified as I was in real time.” Oooookay. That seems like quite the random point to make. Carey is basically throwing shade at producers for not helping rescue her from the situation on stage, without going so far as to accuse them of anything under-handed. Mariah goes on to say she’ll continue to do live events, but will be “less trusting of anyone outside my team.” (That said, Entertainment Tonight has learned that the singer is no longer working with her longtime creative director and tour choreographer/dancer, Anthony Burrell.)
