Horrible news out of Hollywood this week: Jill Messick, a former Miramax producer who once managed actress Rose McGowan, committed suicide suicide on Wednesday, her family has confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter. She was 50 years old. This is terribly sad – but it may have gone largely unnoticed by the mainstream press if Messick’s family had not released a pointed statement in response to the tragedy. Released by Messick’s loved ones to The Hollywood Reporter, the statement places the blame for this suicide on Harvey Weinstein… McGowan herself… and members of the press for how they covered the #MeToo movement . Weinstein, of course, is the former head of Miramax who has been accused of sexual assault by dozens of women. McGowan has claimed for years that she is one of these women, while she’s now a leading voice for the #MeToo movement, which seeks to empower victims of rape and misconduct. Messick, meanwhile, represented McGowan in 1997, at the time she says she was raped by Weinstein. The late producer/manager later took an executive position at Miramax, then led by Weinstein. “Jill was victimized by our new culture of unlimited information sharing and a willingness to accept statement as fact,” reads the emotional statement. “She became collateral damage in an already horrific story.” The full statement, which is available at The Hollywood Reporter , goes on to say that Messick was devastated after the film mogul’s attorney released an email in which Messick defended Weinstein. “The speed of disseminating information has carried mistruths about Jill as a person, which she was unable and unwilling to challenge,” it says. Messick’s relatives acknowledge that McGown told her about an incident with Weinstein… … but they insist that Messick “stood up on Rose’s behalf” and “alerted her bosses to the horrific experience which Rose suffered.” Continues the statement: “She opted not to add to the feeding frenzy, allowing her name and her reputation to be sullied despite having done nothing wrong. “She never chose to be a public figure; that choice was taken away from her.” The family also mentions that Messick was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. After discussing with Messick and her management team what transpired with Weinstein, McGown is on record as saying she did not feel much support. In their message to the public on Thursday, Messick’s loved ones criticized journalists for publishing the aforementioned correspondence between Messick and Weinstein. “We must take a moment to consider the ramifications and consequences of what we say and what we do,” the family’s statement reads, concluding: “Words matter. Someone’s life may depend on it.” McGowan, for her part, has been on a mission to reveal the truth about Weinstein, the culture in Hollywood and everything else related to this ongoing sexual harassment scandal in entertainment. It has thus far ended the careers of such A-Listers as Matt Lauer, Kevin Spacey and Louis C.K., among MANY others. Weinstein’s attorney, Ben Brafman, previously responded to McGowan’s allegations in a statement to People Magazine that reads: “Mr. Weinstein denies Rose McGowan’s allegations of non-consensual sexual contact and it is erroneous and irresponsible to conflate claims of inappropriate behavior and consensual sexual contact later regretted, with an untrue claim of rape.” His spokesperson also has said that McGowan “chose to demand money” from the producer and worked and appeared with him later in her career. On January 30, Weinstein’s lawyers released an email in which Messick said McGowan had told her she got into a hot tub with Weinstein “consensually” yet “regretted” it. It was the end of the line for three of the competitors on The Four during Thursday night’s freshman finale. Host Fergie and panelists Sean “Diddy” Combs, DJ Khaled and Meghan Trainor were all part of the show’s finale, but Charlie Walk was nowhere in sight in the midst of sexual harassment allegations. Evvie McKinney, Zhavia, Candice Boyd and Vincint Cannady were the final four vying for a record contract and the title of iHeartRadio’s On the Verge artists. Simply put, it is one of the better prizes in the world of singing competitions, and one that should give the lucky victor some staying power. The first round of the finale found each of The Four performing and the audience voting for their favorite. That then allowed the winner of the round to choose who they went up against. Boyd – “Don’t Speak” by No Doubt Boyd has gone from strength to strength throughout her time in the competition. Her performance was her best one yet. McKinney – “Proud Mary” by Tina Turner McKinney turned in a phenomenal performance that got everyone talking. The judges, the audience, and even Fergie seemed in awe of her talent. “That performance was fearless,” Combs said while Trainor added, “That was my favorite performance on this stage throughout the entire season.” Cannady – “Creep” by Radiohead Cannady took a considerable risk performing this number, but he delivered in winning fashion. Everything about it was polished, and it proved the talent on this show is better than the others. Zhavia – “One Dance” by Drake This was one was quite a shocker. Zhavia has proven time and time again that she’s a force to be reckoned with. However, this was performance was a dud. Nothing about it had star quality, and the judges seemed to agree. McKinney was crowned the winner of the first round, and she asked to compere against Zhavia. It made sense because Zhavia was having a terrible night. Zhavia – “Man Down” by Rihanna Zhavia attempted to right the wrongs of her previous performance with a Rihanna number. It was better than her Drake cover, but still, something seemed off. McKinney – “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers McKinney continued to dominate the competition with this latest performance. Zhavia should be very worried. The judges got to pick who they wanted to advance, and they went with McKinney. There would have been a riot if they voted the other way! The next head to head found Cannady being left out in the cold and sent home. That meant the final two were McKinney and Boyd. Kylie Jenner has not named her daughter “Butterfly,” people. Come on now. Don’t get all crazy on us. In reality, according to multiple sources, Kylie Jenner has instead named her daughter… a variation on the word “Butterfly.” Chatter over what Jenner and Travis Scott are chosen to call their first child surfaced on Sunday night. This was not long, just a few hours really, after Kylie announced that she had given birth to a girl. She shared a video of her journey to parenthood. She released a statement explaining her months-long silence on the issue, shocking and delighting millions of her fans. She did everything short of unveiling photos of the newborn and letting us know her name. However, astute Internet users think they’ve stumbled on various clues that offer major hints regarding the latter. To wit: Kylie Tweeted a butterfly emoji on May 27, around the time she may have learned she was pregnant. Kylie has a butterfly necklace. Snapshots of the baby’s nursery reveal many butterfly decorations. Moreover … Travis Scott once released a single titled “Butterfly Effect.” Both Scott and Jenner have butterfly tattoos. So this settles it, right? Baby Girl Jenner will be named Butterfly , no? No, it now seems. And not just because Butterfly is a ridiculous name, even for someone whose sisters has dubbed her kids North, Saint and Chicago. But because other astute Internet users think Kris Jenner actually revealed the name of her latest grandchild on Instagram this week. “So cute! And it also does go along with the theme started by Kim Kardashian , who recently named her daughter “Chicago,” yet plans to call her “Chi.” Even if the child is called “Posie,” one more question will remain: Will she be Posie Jenner or Posie Scott? You’d have to imagine the latter, although Kylie and Travis aren’t married, so we can’t really say for certain. Would a member of this family really let a child not have the last name Jenner or Kardashian? Especially when odds are strong that Scott won’t stick around for the long haul? On Sunday, the world learned that Kylie Jenner gave birth to her healthy baby girl . Fans have finally been treated to Kylie’s baby bump pics and to an explanation for why she kept herself in seclusion and declined to admit that she was pregnant until three days after giving birth. But only now has Kylie revealed the name of her newborn daughter. Kylie Jenner got pregnant at 19, after she’d been dating Travis Scott for maybe a month. But the Kardashian family is nothing if not a collection of people who are absolute masters at turning life’s lemons into lucrative lemonade. Though Kylie chose to keep her pregnancy secret — even after the entire world learned of it — she has now apologized to fans for keeping them in the dark when they are so accustomed to seeing so much of her life. Now that she’s given birth to a healthy baby girl, however, Kylie is sharing more. Including a beautiful tribute video to Kylie’s baby that shows tons of never-before-seen footage of Kylie and her baby bump. We also got to see Kylie’s sister Kim’s baby, Chicago West, for the first time. Kim’s pregnancy via surrogate, however, was never a secret. And Chicago is Kim’s third child. Understandably, the spotlight is very much on Kylie. Fans have been wondering about what name she would give to her baby — particularly since her sister Kim’s baby names are nothing short of epic. At first, people theorized that Kylie had named her baby “Butterfly.” Weird, we know. But throughout 2017, it seemed that Kylie was obsessed with butterflies — despite her professed fear of them. The video tribute to her baby girl focused multiple times on butterfly motifs, on Kylie’s necklace and all over her baby’s nursery. Then came a report that Kylie’s daughter would be named something that, at least, sounded more like a name: Mariposa. Mariposa means “butterfly,” and a Kylie and Travis were reportedly planning on calling their little girl “Posie.” As it turns out, however, the whole butterfly thing was a huge red herring for reasons that Kylie might one day share. Kylie shared this beautiful photo of her baby girl, but it was the caption that stole everyone’s attention. ” Stormi ,” she wrote, in all lower case letters. Admittedly, it’s a name that just about no one expected. But maybe some old tweet will surface from a fan who predicted it, as one fan did with Kim and Kanye’s son, Saint. What we don’t know about precious baby Stormi is whether she’ll have her mother’s last name or her father’s. Stormi is admittedly an odd choice. Right now, it brings to mind the porn star, Stormy Daniels, who allegedly had an affair with Donald Trump. Not the usual source where people would go looking for names. But honestly … we don’t know if Kylie’s even been keeping up with the news. She’s said that she wanted to keep herself as stress-free as possible during her pregnancy, and keeping up with the news is the exact opposite of that. Welcome to the world, Stormi Jenner … or Stormy Scott … You’re probably the most famous baby on the planet right now. The halftime performer uploaded a photo of him tying his laces while getting ready to hit the stage for his big night, and while many might not have seen anything wrong with it, everybody who knows anything about sneakers was completely turned off by the travesty they saw.
