TRAILER: Jesse Eisenberg Gets Kidnapped By Mom’s Drug Dealer in Why Stop Now

Jesse Eisenberg landed an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network and most recently, he is a love-sick architect opposite Alec Baldwin in Woody Allen’s To Rome with Love . Next up, the young star plays a piano prodigy who tries to check his mother (played by Oscar-winner Melissa Leo) into rehab. Things, however, go awry when he is taken hostage by her drug dealer (hate when that happens) and he is suddenly off on a wild adventure. The film was formerly titled Predisposed when it debuted at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Despite the obvious that’s revealed in the trailer – namely the aforementioned mother who is hooked on drugs and a kidnapping by a drug dealer, the film appears to have some laughs. Phil Dorling and Ron Nyswanner co-direct the film and wrote the screenplay. IFC Films will release the film August 17th.

Rihanna Says Chris Brown Is The Hottest R&B Singer Out

See original here:

In a recent interview with Ryan Seacrest, Rihanna explained why she chose to record the “Birthday Cake (remix)” with ex Chris Brown, who assaulted her in 2009. Rihanna recalls beginning the collaboration process saying: “The first song that came about was ‘Birthday Cake.’ I mean we ended up recording them at the same time and executing them together, but I reached out to him about doing ‘Birthday Cake’ because that’s the only person that really–it made sense to do the record. Just as a musician despite everything else that was going to be the person. You know I thought about rappers, and I’ve done that so many times, and the hottest R&B artist out right now is Chris Brown. So I wanted him on the track, and then in turn he was like ‘Why don’t you do the remix to my track?’ and it was a trade off. We did two records. One for my fans. One for his fans, and that way our fans can come together. There shouldn’t be a divide. You know? It’s music, and it’s innocent.”

Chord Overstreet and Emma Roberts: It’s Over!

They had a good, adorable run, but it’s all over for Chord Overstreet and Emma Roberts. Source confirm to Us Weekly that the couple – who went public in July of 2011 – has split, as the Scream 4 star attended this weekend’s Sundance Film Festival on her own. “They’re both young kids, they had crushes on each other but the relationship ran its course,” an insider simply says . “She isn’t and wasn’t looking for a serious thing.” Another insider adds that the Glee star was “such a good boyfriend,” which at least bodes well for his next relationship. Overstreet has been linked in the past with Taylor Swift and Naya Rivera, while Roberts previously dated Alex Pettyfer. She’s also the niece of Julia Roberts. [Photos: WENN.com]

‘Community’ Disappearance Is ‘America’s Biggest Cliffhanger’

Alison Brie told MTV News at Sundance that ‘Community’ is still shooting despite the show remaining off of NBC’s schedule. By Josh Wigler, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Alison Brie Photo: MTV News Greendale Community College’s doors might be closed at the moment, but that doesn’t mean class isn’t quietly in session inside. Late last year, NBC pulled the critically acclaimed but criminally under-watched “Community” from its schedule, with a return date yet to be announced. Some fans were so outraged by the network’s decision that they staged a flash mob outside of NBC’s 30 Rockefeller Center headquarters earlier this month, but to no avail — the show remains on the sidelines to this date. Still, progress is being made on the “Community” set itself, at least. Actress Alison Brie, who stars in the series as the beautiful but quirky Annie Edison, told MTV News that work on the NBC comedy is ongoing despite the show’s disappearance from the network’s schedule. “We’re still wrapping up ‘Community,’ our third season,” Brie told us at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, where she was appearing in support of her new film “Save the Date.” Asked about when the show might return, she claimed: “I don’t know! It’s in the air! It’s America’s biggest cliffhanger! I don’t know what’s going to happen, but we’re still shooting the third season, so hopefully it’s going to air in March or April.” Meanwhile, if “Community” fans are looking for more Brie in their lives, they don’t need to tune into NBC. Chances are high that the actress will reprise her role as Pete Campbell’s wife, Trudy, on the upcoming season of AMC’s “Mad Men,” returning to airwaves for the first time in over a year on March 25. “You may [see me in more ‘Mad Men’],” Brie assured us about her probable return to the Emmy-winning drama, now entering its fifth season. “You should definitely tune into ‘Mad Men’ this season, because I hear it’s going to be very good.” What do you make of NBC’s decision to pull “Community”? Evanescence’s ‘My Heart Is Broken’ Video: The Haunting

Brand-new clip finds the band trapped within a nightmare of its own invention. By James Montgomery Evanescence’s Amy Lee on the set of their “My Heart Is Broken” video Photo: Matt Elias/MTV News After nearly a month spent touting its various ethereal qualities , on Tuesday (January 24), Evanescence premiered their video for “My Heart Is Broken,” a dark, dreamlike thing that pushes Amy Lee’s claustrophobic musings to the next level. And somewhere beyond that too. As Lee told MTV News back in December, the look and feel of the “Broken” clip was very much influenced by the British fantasy/horror flick “Paperhouse,” about a young girl who creates vivid dream worlds to escape the harsh reality of everyday life, only to eventually realize she’s stuck in those dreams — inspiration that certainly resonates with the song’s lyrics, which are very much about being trapped in a dark, desolate place and trying to free one’s self despite mounting evidence to the contrary. Working with director Dean Karr, and aided very much by fiber-optic technology, Evanescence have created a video that is both haunting and haunted. It opens with Lee suspended in an inky void, a single light projecting from her finger. While her bandmates bash away in the blackness, she slowly begins to fill her emptiness by creating a dream world — a fallow field, a sea of stars, a crumbling room — until she eventually realizes that, in spite of her attempts, she is just as trapped as she was before. At clip’s end, the viewer is left to wonder whether she has the power to escape (though a cracked mirror seems to indicate she can), which, in a way, only further connects the video to the song itself: Like Lee sings, each of us have within ourselves the ability to free ourselves from any situation; whether we do or not is largely our decision. The first step seems to be realizing that the walls we surround ourselves with are largely of our own creation. The rest is up to us. What do you think of the “My Heart Is Broken” video? Common Brings ‘LUV’ To Sundance

Sundance represents an opportunity to ‘[push] forward with Common as an actor and as a producer,’ the rapper tells MTV News. By Josh Wigler, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Common at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival Photo: Jemal Countess/Getty Images PARK CITY, Utah — When you’re making your debut as a producer and lead actor in a feature film, it doesn’t hurt to surround yourself with stellar actors like Danny Glover, Charles S. Dutton, Dennis Haysbert and Michael K. Williams. With talent like that on your side, it’s nearly impossible not to produce good work. That’s Common ‘s hope, at least. The rapper/actor makes his first turn as a leading man in a feature film in “LUV,” the Sundance Film Festival drama about an ex-con who leaves prison and strives to mentor his troubled nephew upon release. The film represents a lot of firsts for Common: It’s his first starring role and it’s the first movie he’s ever acted in and produced to appear at Sundance. “This is something that is me,” Common told MTV News at the fest. “And it’s a part of what I want to do pushing forward with Common as an actor and as a producer.” The Chicago MC is no stranger to appearing onscreen, of course. He’s had memorable roles in movies like “Wanted” and “Terminator Salvation,” and he stars on the AMC western “Hell on Wheels.” But this is Common’s first time in an independent movie, and the differences between the indie world and the studio system became abundantly clear to him very early on. “Things are just different. But what’s still cool about it is you’re really using your artistic creativity to come together and make the best thing, because you don’t have that many resources,” he said. “You don’t have the bigger budgets, you don’t have the things that [studio films have]. You need to use total creativity to make things rise. “So this is a first for me — and it’s a great first,” he added. The 2012 Sundance Film Festival is officially under way, and the MTV Movies team is on the ground reporting on the hottest stars and the movies everyone will be talking about in the year to come. Keep it locked with MTV Movies for everything there is to know about Sundance.
