‘Lost’ Writer Unsure How People Will React To Finale

Writer/producer Adam Horowitz suggests re-watching the whole series after Sunday’s conclusion. By Kyle Anderson, with reporting by Todd Gilchrist Adam Horowitz Photo: MTV News Though plenty of television shows have been wrapping up their seasons with exciting and compelling finales this month, there’s really only one final episode that everybody is talking about. After six seasons of mysteries and questions, “Lost” will finally wrap up in a two-and-a-half-hour event this Sunday on ABC. And while die-hard fans are feverishly awaiting the finale, the writers and producers of “Lost” are also on the edge of their seats as they anticipate viewers’ reactions. “My partner, Eddie [Kitsis], and I have been working on ‘Lost’ since the beginning, and this ending is something we’re really excited about,” writer/ co-executive producer Adam Horowitz said at the “The Empire Strikes Back” 30th anniversary party on Wednesday, just a day after the penultimate “Lost” episode he’d penned aired. “We have no way of knowing how people are going to react, and I only hope people are as excited about it as we are to get it out there.” Horowitz didn’t offer clues about the content of the last episode, though he did encourage people to re-experience the show once it finally wraps up and take it in as one gigantic narrative. “I would love for people to really experience the show from the beginning by watching the DVDs or catching up with it online,” he said. “I’d love for people to experience ‘Lost’ fresh and really experience it for what it is from the beginning.” How do you think “Lost” will wrap up? What questions do you hope get answered? Let us know in the comments! We’re celebrating the long-awaited conclusion of “Lost” all this week at MTV News! We’ll be bringing you exclusive interviews, insightful commentary and, in true “Lost” fashion, maybe even a surprise or two. Sarah Silverman Has Her Revenge on Lost-Loving Ex Jimmy Kimmel

Sure, Sarah Silverman may have broken up with Jimmy Kimmel ages ago, but why should she let him have all the Lost -hogging fun? Before Kimmel gets to host his “Aloha to Lost ” special this Sunday following the series finale, Silverman interviewed the show’s creators Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse for Funny or Die , asking important things like, “I couldn’t help but notice that you’re both huge f***ing nerds. Do you think that informed the writing of this show?” Oh, Sarah. Don’t you know that every question will just lead to another question?

‘Lost’ Star Michael Emerson Will Miss ‘Exotic Adventure’ Of The Island

The man behind Ben Linus has bittersweet emotions about this week’s finale By Adam Rosenberg, with reporting by Josh Wigler Photo: MTV News On Tuesday night’s “Lost,” Michael Emerson’s Benjamin Linus was pulled in two directions. On the Island, the always-devious former Other recovered from his recent efforts to repent, killing Charles Widmore and allying himself with the malevolent entity that fans have come to know as the Smoke Monster. Meanwhile, in the sideways timeline, a kinder, gentler Linus was introduced by favorite student Alex (Tania Raymonde) to her mother, the long-departed Danielle Rousseau (Mira Furlan). Similarly, Emerson finds himself pulled in opposite directions as the much-beloved series that he is a fundamental part of approaches its two-and-a-half-hour finale this Sunday. While there are certainly some things that he won’t miss, he told MTV News that it’s a bittersweet parting. “I guess I’ll miss the exotic adventure of the process,” Emerson said. “I don’t think I’ll ever again go to work in jungles or on cliffs or in majestic valleys where you cannot help but be in character and in the place where these events happen, because they’re overpowering.” “Lost” started, and will very likely end, on a mysterious island in the Pacific. Though the show has featured action (in the past, future and “sideways” universe) in other parts of the world, the remote island setting has always been a fundamental focus, an oddity in television programming today. “Most of the time you work on TV, it’s in courtrooms and precincts and offices and stuff like that,” Emerson said. “[‘Lost’ is] like old school, like making movies in faraway places. It had that exoticism about it.” What the soft-spoken actor won’t miss is the time away from his family. His wife, Carrie Preston, is a star on HBO’s vampire series “True Blood,” which shoots in Los Angeles, quite a distance away from the “Lost” set in Hawaii. As Emerson said, “I’m happy that I’ll never again have to figure out what to do on a Sunday night in Honolulu.” Head over to the MTV Movies Blog to vote for the “Lost” Awards from now through the finale.
