Sheriff Robert Arnold recently told a local paper that after shots were fired outside of his home he wondered if Beyonce’s Super Bowl halftime show was to blame. Why? Because since Bey’s “Formation” dropped seven police officers have been killed nationwide. The Tennessean reports: Other than being the sheriff and a member of law enforcement, Rutherford County Sheriff Robert Arnold doesn’t know the motive for shots fired outside his Osborne Lane home Monday night. “We all know, as soon as you put your uniform on, you’re a target,” he said at a news conference Tuesday morning at the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office. “You make people mad when you’re just doing your job.” Arnold said when he first heard the shots, he wondered if they were inspired by the Super Bowl halftime show. When asked to clarify that comment, he added, “You know, Beyonce’s video.” Beyonce recently released the video “Formation,” which has been described as representing the African-American experience. She performed “Formation” during the Super Bowl halftime show. In an email Tuesday afternoon to further clarify the sheriff’s Super Bowl statement, Arnold said, “My comments reflect the violence and senseless killing of seven deputies in the U.S. since the show aired. My comments are an observation of the violence that has occurred but in no way is meant to offend anyone.” The email also included a link to The National Sheriff’s Association’s website with the following information: “The senseless killing of four law enforcement officers just this week — on the heels of the anti-police “entertainment” at the Sunday Super Bowl halftime show — reminds us that the men and women in law enforcement take a solemn oath that includes putting their lives on the line every day to protect our citizens.” Black pride is anti-police entertainment now? Okay. This comes just days after a Detroit police sergeant compared her performance to the KKK. Y’all mad, huh? What do YOU think about Sheriff Arnold’s logic???
As you may have heard, Kanye West admitted to being $53 million in debt during a bizarre Twitter rant posted on Saturday night. Given his wife’s well-documented obsession with material wealth (we ain’t sayin’ she’s a gold-digger…), we imagine Mrs. Kim Kardashian-West is less than pleased about her man’s financial woes. The rumors about Kim filing for divorce from Kanye are probably bogus, but if you think she’s not looking out for herself and her kids financially as her idiot husband continues to make the world “more dope” by throwing all his money in $1,200 sweatpants, then you don’t know Kimberly. “She feels good that she has her own money if things ever go south,” a source tells People magazine. “But of course it stresses her out a little that they even have to think about finances at all.” We don’t blame her. One would think that of the many, many (many) stresses that would come along with being married to Kanye West, money problems wouldn’t be among them. Fortunately, Kim remains the family’s top breadwinner. According to estimates by Forbes magazine, the sex-tape-star-turned-multi-media-mogul brought in $53 million last year, dwarfing Kanye’s $20 million in earnings. “Their finances are separate, but they don’t keep secrets from each other, and when it comes to things for the kids, the house they’re working on, they share expenses,” says the insider. Beyonce Knowles gave a staggering performance of her new song “Formation” during this year’s Super Bowl halftime that earned overwhelming praise and left most Americans bowing down in awe. Buuuuut naturally, there had to be a few sourpusses. Some folks thought her dancers’ costumes paid tribute to the Black Panthers and accused Queen Bey of “race baiting” and called the performance a “slap in the face of law enforcement.” A protest was organized for Tuesday in New York City, asking supporters to “stand together” and “tell the NFL we don’t want hate speech & racism at the Superbowl ever again!” And just how many citizens showed up to express their outrage? Two (2). There was one guy, NYC resident Ariel Kohane and a girl named April who only identified herself as a student. Oh, how embarrassing. In fact, far more people came to the anti-anti-Beyonce protest, with more than 100 fans supporting the artist. While many celebs were attending Kanye West’s fashion show and album reveal in New York, Yeezy’s friend Beyonce was glamming it up with Mariah Carey at the HeartView Global Foundation benefit in LA. The gal pals were positively glowing in a photo Mariah posted to Twitter, who tweeted, “Two girls, one cause.” Bey slayed in a white gown adorned with a shoulder-hugging cape and Mariah rocked a nude-colored, sparkly lace dress that flaunted her famous curves. And yes, you can catch a glimpse of Mariah’s much-talked about 35 carat engagement ring, which may or may not have required its own seat at the benefit. Both ladies have had quite the year so far. Beyonce made many a headline early in the week when she basically won the Super Bowl with her jaw-dropping halftime performance of “Formation” (even though a few bellyachers had to be total sour pusses about it). Three weeks ago, Mariah got engaged to billionaire James Packer , who presented her with the aforementioned diamond boulder that’s likely giving her left bicep muscles a killer workout. The HeartView Global Foundation aims to combat heart disease by promoting a heart-healthy, plant-based diet. Both Beyonce and Mariah have both followed vegetarian/vegan diets in the past.
