Meghan King Edmonds Covers Latina Magazine, Hears It From Critics

Meghan King Edmonds stars on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. And we say this with no disrespect nor any judgment of any kind, really, but… … it may very well be the whitest show on television. Each week, this Bravo series just pits one spoiled rich white woman against each other, as one First World Problem after another is discussed and dissected in nauseating detail. Doesn’t mean the program isn’t entertaining. It’s just… very white. This likely explains the outcry by some on the Internet in response to Edmonds being featured on the latest cover of Latina Magazine. The reality star, who is pregnant with her second child , at least seems to recognize that she isn’t the typical main subject of this particular publication. First, she shared the following image on Instagram: Then, she included the following caption along with it. “I’m so proud and honored to be on the cover of @latinamagazine1 and represent @glamarella_jewelry!” wrote the cable network personality, adding: “I loved doing this shoot right after I found out I was pregnant! No, I’m not Latina but I was asked to be on the cover and talk about my life and #RHOC in the cover story so I guess I’m blessed to be an honorary Latina this month! “(By the way, big shout out to my husband for my engagement ring that got a front and center shot!)” Ah yes, an “honorary Latina.” It’s safe to say this cover shoot and this phrase didn’t sit well with readers of the magazine. “Dressed up the nice white lady to look like a Latina for Latina magazine because?” wrote one dissatisfied Internet user. “This is the same as black facing only for Latinas now! What a fail.” Not exactly, of course. It would maybe the same if Edmonds’ skin was darkened or she was wearing a sombrero or something. But general point still taken. Other critics laid into Latina for putting “white privilege” on display, while another person chimed in with: “This is beyond disappointing and such a slap in the face to the ENTIRE community. Shame on you!” This magazine does consistently feature prominent Latinas such as Demi Lovato, Jennifer Lopez, Paulina Rubio, Jessica Alba, Shakira, Eva Longoria, Salma Hayek, Eva Mendes, Christina Aguilera, Naya Rivera, America Ferrera and even Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. The November 2015 issue featured girl group Fifth Harmony, whose three out of five members are Latinas, marking the first time two non-Latinas were featured on the cover of the magazine. So this was a trend that started a couple years ago. What do you think of this supposed scandal? Do the haters have a point? Or should everyone be okay with Latina diversifying its cover subjects a bit? View Slideshow: 17 Stars Who Really Love the Real Housewives Edmonds and her co-stars – including Vicki Gunvalson, Kelly Dodd, Tamra Judge, Shannon Beador, Lydia McLaughlin, and Peggy Sulahian – will return for Season 13 some time next year. Will you be tuning in?

Louis C.K. Admits: “These Stories are True”

After years of rumors followed the comedian, five women have come forward and accused Louis C.K. of sexual harassment . Now that these rumors have become outspoken allegations, and now that he’s getting slammed by comedians and fans alike , Louis C.K. is making a statement. And he’s … admitting to it. To all of it. Louis C.K.’s statement gets right to the point: “I want to address the stories told to The New York Times by five women named Abby, Rebecca, Dana, Julia who felt able to name themselves and one who did not.” Here it comes: “These stories are true.” We’ve all wondered what’s must have been going through his mind as he pulled out his penis in front of various women. (We no longer have to write “allegedly” for him!) Louis C.K. provides a little insight: “At the time, I said to myself that what I did was O.K. because I never showed a woman my dick without asking first, which is also true.” That … sounds like some bizarre mental gymnastics were going on in his mind to excuse his behavior. The sort of excuse that only he himself could buy. “But what I learned later in life, too late, is that when you have power over another person, asking them to look at your dick isn’t a question. It’s a predicament for them.” Power can mean professional authority. It can mean celebrity status. It can even mean physical strength and size. Remember, folks: the cashier or barista smiles at you because it’s literally part of her job, not because she wants to see your genitals. “The power I had over these women is that they admired me. And I wielded that power irresponsibly. I have been remorseful of my actions. And I’ve tried to learn from them. And run from them. Now I’m aware of the extent of the impact of my actions.” Louis C.K.’s statement continues: “I learned yesterday the extent to which I left these women who admired me feeling badly about themselves and cautious around other men who would never have put them in that position.” One of those women said that the experience discouraged her from pursuing her career in comedy. “I also took advantage of the fact that I was widely admired in my and their community, which disabled them from sharing their story and brought hardship to them when they tried because people who look up to me didn’t want to hear it.” That “widely admired” bit sounds a little like self-praise, which is not tonally appropriate … but maybe he’s just trying to make sure that people understand that he knows that it was wrong and why? “I didn’t think that I was doing any of that because my position allowed me not to think about it.” A lot of men never think about the damage that they do. “There is nothing about this that I forgive myself for. And I have to reconcile it with who I am. Which is nothing compared to the task I left them with.” That’s proper. “I wish I had reacted to their admiration of me by being a good example to them as a man and given them some guidance as a comedian, including because I admired their work.” “The hardest regret to live with is what you’ve done to hurt someone else.” Well, maybe his hardest regret. “And I can hardly wrap my head around the scope of hurt I brought on them.” Louis C.K.’s actions are now impacting more than just himself and these women. Remember, HBO gave him the axe. “I’d be remiss to exclude the hurt that I’ve brought on people who I work with and have worked with who’s professional and personal lives have been impacted by all of this, including projects currently in production: the cast and crew of Better Things, Baskets, The Cops, One Mississippi, and I Love You, Daddy.” That’s a lot of people screwed over, professionally, because Louis C.K. couldn’t keep it in his pants (literally). “I deeply regret that this has brought negative attention to my manager Dave Becky who only tried to mediate a situation that I caused.” If you don’t want to negatively impact the people who consider it their job to clean up your messes, maybe don’t make messes. (Some have pointed out that Louis C.K.’s wealth is in the 8 digits, and that he mgiht want to cut some checks to the people whom he’s left hanging) “I’ve brought anguish and hardship to the people at FX who have given me so much The Orchard who took a chance on my movie. and every other entity that has bet on me through the years.” We cannot imagine how his family is feeling right now. “I’ve brought pain to my family, my friends, my children and their mother.” Louis C.K. finishes off his statement with this: “I have spent my long and lucky career talking and saying anything I want. I will now step back and take a long time to listen. Thank you for reading.” It’s good that he’s admitting this, and a refreshing change from endless denials in Hollywood , but we’d like to point out a couple of things: One: if there was a actual, explicit apology in this, we don’t think that we saw it. Maybe it’s implied , but that’s actually not how apologies work. You have to say them. Two: some have pointed out that Louis C.K. could have spoken out years ago when Gawker (before the site was destroyed by a vengeful, Trump-supporting billionaire) first talked about these rumors. Or in the summer of 2016, when Roseanne Barr spoke about it . It almost seems, to some, that Louis C.K. was less concerned about how his actions impacted these women … and was only moved to speak up because it’s now hurting his career . That’s a cynical view, but … you can see why people feel that way. Especially people who have their own #MeToo stories and will never trust the people responsible for them. Roy Moore: Alabama Senate Candidate Accused of Child Molestation

Former Alabama Supreme Court judge and current US Senate candidate Roy Moore has always been a controversial figure. After all, this is a man whose homophobic, racist, and anti-Muslim views earned him a reputation as a bigot even by the standards of Alabama Republicans. But despite being twice removed from the bench for ethical violations, Moore has risen through this party’s ranks to become a figure of national prominence. In September, he defeated Trump-backed candidate Luther Strange in a run-off election and became the GOP’s nominee to fill the Senate seat vacated by Attorney General Jeff Sessions. During his campaign, Moore brandished a gun onstage, blamed the Sandy Hook massacre on a lack of school prayer, and called for the impeachment of judges who have  Astonishingly, it seems these views have only served to increase Moore’s popularity with his base. But now, the 70-year-old finds himself at the heart of a scandal that may cost him the support of even his most fervent supporters. The Washington Post has interviewed four women who say they were subjected to unwanted sexual advances by Moore in the late 1970s and early 1980s, when he was in his thirties and they were in their teens. Leigh Corfman tells the newspaper she was just 14 when Moore groped her and forced her to touch his genitals at his home in rural Alabama. “I wanted it over with — I wanted out,” she remembers thinking. “Please just get this over with. Whatever this is, just get it over.” Three women have independently claimed that Moore kissed them, inappropriately touched them, and plied them with alcohol when they were between the ages of 15 and 17. Moore has denied the allegations in a statement issued by his campaign team: “These allegations are completely false and are a desperate political attack by the National Democrat Party and the Washington Post on this campaign,” the statement reads. Adopting the favorite counter-argument of Trump-era Republicans, a rep for Moore added, “This garbage is the very definition of fake news.” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other prominent Republicans have stated that Moore should step aside if there’s any  truth to the allegations. Others, however, have mounted absurd defenses of Moore, including Alabama state auditor Jim Ziegler, who went viral with this asinine argument: “Take Joseph and Mary. Mary was a teenager and Joseph was an adult carpenter. They became parents of Jesus,” Ziegler told the Washington Examiner. Currently, Moore has no plans to bring an end to his campaign. He is set to face off against Democratic challenger Doug Jones in a special election on December 12. View Slideshow: 15 Celebrities Who Have Been Sexually Assaulted

Ho Sit Down: Label Sloring Wife Of Treasury Secretary Goes Viral With Nasty Private Jet Clapback

(Photo by Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for LS) Treasury Secretary’s Wife Louise Linton Shows Her Claws And It Goes All Bad You all will likely remember Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin from his recent run-in with Congresswoman Maxine Waters when she had to “reclaim her time” but now he’s also becoming known for his c*nt of a wife, 36-year-old Scottish-born actress Louise Linton. Linton sparked the ire of a legion of folks on social media after posting a picture of the couple’s “Great #daytrip to #Kentucky,” her wardrobe tagged with a slew of designer labels including Tom Ford, Roland Mouret, Valentino and Hermes as she and her husband stepped off a government jet. Steve Mnuchin and his wife Louise Linton step out to Kentucky for a fashionable day trip on a government plane. pic.twitter.com/mPeaTgxPPs — southpaw (@nycsouthpaw) August 22, 2017 While Linton was showered with comments criticizing her for the distasteful post, she opted to respond to this one from Jenni Miller, a 45-year-old Oregon mom of three, according to The New York Times. “Glad we could pay for your little getaway #deplorable,” Miller wrote. Linton’s clapback is EPIC — largely because her levels of bi**hy snobbery managed to surpass the original post: “Aw!!! Did you think this was a personal trip?! Adorable!” she wrote. “Do you think the US govt paid for our honeymoon or personal travel?! Lololol. Have you given more to the economy than me and my husband? Either as an individual earner in taxes OR in self sacrifice to your country?” “I’m pretty sure we paid more taxes toward our day ‘trip’ than you did. Pretty sure the amount we sacrifice per year is a lot more than you’d be willing to sacrifice if the choice was yours.” “You’re adorably out of touch. Thanks for the passive aggressive nasty comment. Your kids look very cute. Your life looks cute. I know you’re mad but deep down you’re really nice and so am I. Sending me passive aggressive Instagram comments isn’t going to make life feel better. Maybe a nice message, one filled with wisdom and hunanity [SIC] would get more traction. Have a pleasant evening. Go chill out and watch the new game of thrones. It’s fab Linton’s response included emojis of a curled bicep and a face blowing a kiss. Louise Linton, wife of US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, just turned her Instagram private after posting this (h/t @skenigsberg ) pic.twitter.com/beakVnAhhu — Margarita Noriega (@margarita) August 22, 2017 Welp… Don’t know about y’all but that doesn’t sit too well with us. Linton ultimately deleted the post and turned her account private, but we’re gonna bank on the damage being done already. This isn’t the first time Linton’s turned folks off by being out of touch. Mashable reports that just last year the actress self-published a tone-deaf and delusional memoir In Congo’s Shadow that was so offensive Zambia’s embassy issued a response. Here’s an abstract of the book: Gunshots echoed through the bush and seemed to be getting closer. I couldn’t imagine the awful, sporadic acts of violence that were being committed as the village was ransacked. Fear and anger for the children consumed my thoughts… As the night ticked interminably by, I tried not to think what the rebels would do to the ‘skinny white muzungu with long angel hair’ if they found me. Clenching my jaw to stop my teeth chattering, I squeezed my eyes shut and reminded myself how I’d come to be a central character in this horror story. Seriously? No wonder it sparked the hashtag #LintonLies. Mnuchin’s now wife (Pence officiated and Trump attended the couple’s wedding this June) apologized and took the book off the market. (Photo by Alex Wong/Getty Images) Seems like we’ve found our very own Marie Antoinette for this century’s evil empire…

India’s Supreme Court Has Deemed The Islamic Practice Of Instant Divorce Unconstitutional

Getty Images “Instant Divorce” In India Voted Unconstitutional India’s Supreme Court has deemed the Islamic practice of instant divorce unconstitutional in a 3-2 majority verdict. The court called the practice “un-Islamic”. India is one of a handful of countries where a Muslim man can divorce his wife in minutes by saying the word talaq (divorce) three times. The tradition of “triple talaq” is still widely practiced in India, which allows a Muslim man to divorce his wife simply by chanting the word “talaq” three times. While “triple talaq” is centuries old, it is not enshrined in Sharia or the Koran. I welcome the Supreme Court judgement on instant Triple Talaq. Its a victory 4 brave Muslim women who hve waged battle against it for years — Azmi Shabana (@AzmiShabana) August 22, 2017 The landmark court decision came in response to petitions challenging the so-called “triple talaq” custom. The cases were filed by five Muslim women who had been divorced in this way and two rights groups. Three of the five Supreme Court judges called the controversial practice “un-Islamic, arbitrary and unconstitutional”. One of the judges, Justice Kurien Joseph, said the practice was not an essential part of Islam and enjoyed no protection. Women’s rights campaigners have hailed this as a historic win.

POTUS Praise: Kevin Durant Reveals The Text Barack Obama Sent Him After Winning NBA Championship

Bernstein Barack Obama Texted Kevin Durant After NBA Finals Victory There is no doubt that Kevin Durant is still riding high off the emotions of winning his first NBA Championship against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. While there is still unconfirmed speculation that the Warriors will not visit the White House to shake hands with Donald, KD has had a Presidential encounter since taking home the Larry O’Brien trophy. During his recent interview with Bill Simmons on The Ringer podcast, KD revealed that #44, Barack Obama , had sent him a congratulatory text already: KD : “Obama. He sent a text through somebody to get to me,” Simmons : “What’d he say?” KD : “Congrats,’Your defense was really good, which was random … and he told me to enjoy it, have some fun, typical stuff. I wasn’t expecting that.” You can listen to the interview in it’s entirety below.
