Uninsured Woman With Huge Stomach Tumor Turned Away From Hospitals The widely-circulated story of an uninsured Georgia woman who was turned away by 4 hospital that refused to treat her growing beach ball-sized tumor without payment is finally getting a happy ending. via NY Daily News In two months, a tumor inside the belly of Doris Lewis has blown up to the size of a beach ball. The 59-year-old woman from the Atlanta area says she is in excruciating pain from the massive, invasive mass pressing against her organs and pushing against her heart. She’s had no medical insurance since her husband died a few years back, and has been trying to find a carrier ever since, she said. But she had no idea at first about what was going on inside her. “I thought I was just gaining weight,” she said. Then her abdomen began swelling at an alarming pace. In eight weeks, the benign tumor had pushed her belly button inside out and left her looking like a hugely pregnant woman. That’s when she started going to hospitals. “Some of the guys looked at me and said ‘You got a tumor in there. That is so big. ‘Bout to pop,”’ she said. But none of the hospitals would operate on her because she had no insurance, the Newton County resident said. Eventually, the pain got so bad she called 911, and was taken Emory University Hospital Midtown. That’s where she finally got some good news. The doctor who examined her said she will get the surgery she needs, no matter her lack of insurance. “He said ‘you will see a doctor without money,”’ Lewis told the station. She will go under the knife June 10. “It would feel great, now, if I could get it out today. Right now. It would be a blessing,” she said. It’s a shame that this woman had to go to 5 hospitals before anyone would help her. Kudos to the hospital that finally stepped up and did the right thing.

Man With The 132-Pound Scrotum Dies Of Multiple Heart Attacks Wesley Warren, Jr., famous for a scrotum that weighed as much as 132 pounds before he reduced it with surgery, has died at age 49. He recently suffered two heart attacks and had been hospitalized for weeks due to complications from diabetes. Via Gawker reports: A friend of Warren’s told the Las Vegas Review-Journal, “He had infections that I think were brought on by his diabetes and then he had those heart attacks.” The friend said Warren’s surgery last April played no role in his death. Due his condition, Warren, who weighed 300 pounds before his scrotum started expanding at a rate of 3 pounds per month, was unable to urinate normally, or to have sex. He had to wear hooded sweatshirts upside down as pants. Warren’s strange case garnered worldwide attention thanks to appearances on the Howard Stern Show, Tosh.0, and a 2013 documentary on the U.K.’s Channel 4, The Man With the 10-Stone Testicles. The publicity led to several offers to perform corrective surgery, including one from Dr. Mehmet Oz, which Warren turned down because he was afraid Oz would botch the operation. He eventually found a doctor at UC Irvine who performed the surgery for free, on the condition that Nevada Medicaid would pay for use of the hospital. The surgery happened before the state approved it, though, and Nevada denied coverage for Warren’s surgery and his post-operative care. Warren consistently denied that he flaunted his condition for attention. “Who would want to live like this?” he asked the Review-Journal before his surgery last year. Following three months of dating, these celebrities have ended the relationship they never actually acknowledged in the first place. “Kendall has been focusing on her modeling and Harry is preparing for work on the band’s fourth album, as well as their stadium tour,” a source tells The Daily Mail, citing busy schedules as the basis for this split. While neither side confirmed the romance, Jenner and Styles were first spotted together in November, while they also went skiing together a month later and spent some time together in Harry’s native London. Styles purposely stayed away from Kendall during her latest trip to England for London Fashion Week, however, in order to not serve as a distraction. “There’s been no major fallout,” the newspaper adds. “They’re definitely still friends ad haven’t ruled anything out in the future.” Styles, of course, is used to famous break-ups at this point.
