Should Susan Boyle Sing at the Royal Wedding?

He’s already a reality show judge and record producer. But Simon Cowell is looking to add another title to his resume: wedding planner. Speaking to Extra , Cowell offered up an idea for who should sing at the royal nuptials between Prince William and Kate Middleton . “Susan Boyle would be perfect,” said the former American Idol panelist, adding that Boyle’s “I Dreamed a Dream” would be the ideal wedding song for the pair. As the world knows by now, William and Kate got engaged last month and have scheduled their exchanging of vows to take place at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011. Billions are expected to watch on television. Would Boyle be able to handle that pressure? Do you think she’d made a good choice to sing at the reception? [poll id=”1660″ /]

Susan Boyle Tops Billboard Chart With The Gift

Taylor Swift’s Speak Now drops to #2, with Kid Cudi coming in at #3. By Gil Kaufman Susan Boyle Photo: Venturelli/ Getty Images What a difference a year makes. This time last year, viral sensation Susan Boyle crushed the competition when her debut album, I Dreamed a Dream, sold more than 701,000 copies in its first week on the charts. Next week, Scottish singer Boyle will once again snag a #1 debut with her second effort, The Gift, but with a decidedly more modest first-week tally of 318,000, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. That will still give her more than enough to top last week’s #1, Taylor Swift ‘s Speak Now , which falls to #2 on sales of 212,000, giving the country-pop crossover star a three-week total nearing 1.6 million. Other debuts in the top 10 include Kid Cudi ‘s second effort, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager , which will come in at #3 (169,000), followed by the NOW 36 compilation (#4, 89,000), Bon Jovi Greatest Hits (#5, 88,000), country legend Reba McEntire ‘s All the Women I Am (#7, 64,000) and Cee Lo Green ‘s Lady Killer (#9, 41,000). The rest of the top 10: Jason Aldean , My Kinda Party (#6, 81,000); Sugarland , The Incredible Machine (#8, 60,000); and Lil Wayne , I Am Not a Human Being (#10, 35,000). Onetime rivals Eminem and Mariah Carey are a study in contrasts. Slim Shady moved another 34,000 copies of his smash comeback, Recovery , to land at #11 after more than five months on the charts as he zeroed in on nearly 3 million in sales, while Carey’s holiday album, Merry Christmas II You, tumbles eight spots in its second week as sales fell 41 percent to 33,000. Wins at the Country Music Awards boosted Lady Antebellum ‘s Need You Now 10 spots to #13, as sales kick up 68 percent to 33,000, while that show’s big winner, Miranda Lambert , leaps 26 spots to #15 with Revolution, which was up 137 percent on sales of 29,000. Creed offshoot Alter Bridge has a solid debut at #17 with AB III (28,000), while rapper Twista is further down the list at #42 with the debut of his latest, Perfect Storm (14,000). It’s all about Cudi on the iTunes album chart, as Mr. Rager took the top spot, followed by Swift, Cee Lo, Aldean, and Mumford & Sons, whose Sigh No More continues its iTunes domination. Alter Bridge comes in at #6, beating out Bon Jovi, Boyle, Kings of Leon’s Come Around Sundown and Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream. It’s a “Teenage Dream” of a different sort on the iTunes singles chart, where the kids from “Glee” top the tally with their cover of the Perry hit, pushing Ke$ha’s “We R Who We R” down to #2. Perry takes the #3 slot with “Firework,” followed by Pink’s “Raise Your Glass,” the Black Eyed Peas’ “The Time (Dirty Bit),” Rihanna and Drake’s “What’s My Name,” the Far East Movement’s “Like a G6,” Rihanna’s “Only Girl (in the World),” Nelly’s “Just a Dream,” and Trey Songz’s “Bottoms Up.” Next week’s charts were slated to be dominated by new discs from Josh Groban, Rascal Flatts, Rihanna, Kid Rock, Nelly and Keith Urban, but with the surprise announcement of the release of the Beatles’ catalog on iTunes this week, those artists could all get a challenge from the gold standard Fab Four catalog, which stormed the iTunes album and singles charts within 24 hours of its release on Tuesday. T-Pain Says He Won’t Release His New Album Until Music Sales Pick Up

‘Ain’t nobody selling records unless you Susan Boyle,’ T-Pain tells MTV News. By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by James “FLX” Smith T-Pain Photo: MTV News There was a time in recent pop-culture history when T-Pain and his Vocoder were virtually inescapable. You couldn’t turn on the radio, watch a hilarious viral video or tune into an awards show without getting an earful of T-Pain and his computerized twang. But in 2010, with albums sales still sluggish, T-Pain said he’s not putting out any new music until the tide turns. “I got the mastered version of my album in my car right now. But I’m not bringing my album out until these artists start selling records again, ’cause ain’t nobody selling records unless you Susan Boyle,” T-Pain told MTV News. Even though his website is promoting his forthcoming effort RevolveR, the collabo king insisted he’s going to fall back until album sales pick up. “I’m not doing nothing. I’m not bringing out no album, not dropping no more new singles until people start selling records again, and that’s the approach I think everybody should take unless you Susan Boyle or Miley Cyrus.” Pain said that, these days, artists who are not running things on the pop tip don’t really have a chance. “It ain’t really nothing else you can do. Any hip-hop artists, anybody coming from the South, we ain’t doin’ it,” T-Pain said. “Until everybody show and prove, I ain’t droppin’ no album.” While he’s holding back on his solo work, Pain is still collaborating and told MTV News about creating the track “My Own Step” with ATL’s Roscoe Dash for the soundtrack to the dance flick “Step Up 3-D.” “The song was for somebody else at first, and then they was asking … [T-Pain’s label] Nappy Boy: ‘Do we have some songs for the “Step Up 3-D” movie?’ ” said Pain, who sent songs featuring artists such as Sophia Fresh, Tay Dizm and One Chance. “They was like, ‘You got some stuff with you on it?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, here go a song right here.’ They came up to me like, ‘Roscoe Dash got on.’ I was like, ‘Yes! We got him!’ ” T-Pain said, adding, “I’ve been trying to do a song with Roscoe Dash for a long time.” Pain, who’s no stranger to hitmaking, said he was looking forward to working with the “Show Out” rapper, because he thought Dash brought something fresh to the game. “I’ve been living in Atlanta for, like, two and a half years … and I listen to the radio a lot, and they play all Atlanta. When Roscoe Dash’s song came on the radio, I was like, ‘Oh, thank you,’ ” Pain said. “It was just a relief. It was just something new.” Are you bummed that T-Pain is waiting to release new music? Simon Cowell to Stage World’s Got Talent

The dreams of Simon Cowell are about to come true. No, he won’t be tar and feathering Ryan Seacrest. Instead, the American Idol judge will be staging World’s Got Talent some time in 2011, a reality show that will bring together a number of acts from across the globe. The event will be held at London’s Royal Albert Hall, as sources say Simon has wanted to do the competition since 2007, when Britain’s Got Talent first aired. “This has been Simon’s dream. It will be the biggest reality show the world’s seen,” said an insider. The most well-known act to come out of Britain Got Talent , of course, is Susan Boyle . She’s sold millions of albums worldwide. Winners from similar shows around the world have included opera singers, contortionists, circus performers and dance groups.
