Stefano Langone Says He Purposely Held Back on American Idol, Saved "Swag" For Solo Career

Stefano Langone was voted off American Idol this week, but he says he’s proud of how far he got and looking forward to what’s next in his career. In fact, he says he purposely held back on Idol because he wanted to save some of his patented special “swag” for fans to hear on his debut album. “It’s hard to really show your chops on the show,” he said. “One thing I wanted to keep to myself was my original music and my piano playing. It’s something I want to bring out and really show the world, and I think it will be very, very special.” Saying that he purposely chose to not showcase his full range of talent on the show, Langone said he has big plans to carve a unique niche in music. In the vein of Justin Timberlake and John Legend, he says he wants to focus on his piano playing, writing his own material and collaborating with rappers. “Right now, there is a market for what I do and what I can do,” Stefano Langone said. “The producers know it, my management knows it, I know it.” “I’m ready to pounce on it. I’m ready to attack .” Curiously, Langone said not only did he choose to keep his piano talents under wraps, but he also picked songs that weren’t necessarily the best. For the show, that is. He says his choices were geared toward what happened once he left American Idol. His rationale for that is simple: “When I get on that piano, I don’t want to be remembered as getting on the piano and having 20 million-plus people see me do a cover.” “I want people to see me sitting on a piano and singing my songs, my heartfelt, real songs that came from my soul.” Asked whom he might compare himself to or want to work with, Langone listed Bruno Mars, Legend, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Usher and Ne-Yo. Though he wouldn’t reveal who has been in touch, Langone promised he’s already heard from a number of rappers ready to get in the studio. Stefano also admitted that he was conflicted by lasting longer than his pal Pia Toscano , a singer many thought would finish higher than him. “When I came out for [the show], I was never wanting to be the American Idol; it was getting that foot in the door in the industry,” he said. “I knew how bad Pia wanted to be the American Idol, and I almost wanted it more for her more than me.” What do you think? Does this guy have a chance to make it big?

Taylor Lautner: Torn Between Lily Collins and Kristen Stewart?

Taylor Lautner is in a tough position. Well, tough and enviable. His close friend and Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart and his girlfriend / Abduction co-star Lily Collins are both starring as Snow White in two different movies. Fortunately, he doesn’t have to choose sides. “I’m lucky, because they’re completely different Snow Whites, so I feel like I don’t have to choose one,” he said, smiling . “They’re completely different stories.” “The Snow Whites themselves are totally different.” The actor did admit “it’s crazy” that both girls are cast as the same character, with Kristen’s Snow White and the Hunstmen featuring her in a badass lead role. Lily’s version is described by director Tarsem Singh and finds her cast opposite Julia Roberts and Armie Hammer. Which are you most looking forward to seeing? [Photo: WENN.com]

Check Out These Tang-Soaked Character Posters From Immortals

You’ll be hearing more from our intrepid Jen Yamato from the WonderCon panel on Tarsem Singh’s god fight flick Immortals later on, but for now take a gander at these just released posters for some of the characters. Pictured are new Superman Henry Cavill as Theseus, Luke Evans as Zeus, Kellan Lutz as Poseidon, Isabel Lucas as Athena and Daniel Sharman as Aries. Other than the dusky nectarine color scheme, it looks like the movie is very consciously trying to get some of that sweet, sweet 300 money by aping the look and feel of that other sword ‘n sandals stab epic. But bonus points to anyone who can tell me what that Tang-like liquid is that’s swirling all around them.

The Verge: Luke Evans

Luke Evans is your new leading man — you just don’t know it yet. The Welsh 30-year-old made his name on the British stage by starring in productions of Miss Saigon and Taboo , and since he transitioned into film last year, he’s booked role after role after role. In Robin Hood and Clash of the Titans , Evans had smaller supporting parts, but he turned heads as the romantic lead opposite Gemma Arterton in the Cannes comedy Tamara Drewe , and after he finishes Tarsem Singh’s Immortals , he’ll be playing Aramis in Paul W.S. Anderson’s The Three Musketeers (with a cast that includes Orlando Bloom and Christoph Waltz) and the title character in the biopic Vivaldi , opposite Jessica Biel. Not a bad haul for someone who hadn’t even appeared in a film until this year! Movieline caught up with the busy Evans to get the scoop on all of his upcoming projects and the one movie musical he’s desperate to be a part of.
