Channing Tatum Strips Down In ‘Magic Mike’ Teaser

Tatum and his stripper pals, played by Matthew McConaughey and Alex Pettyfer, get into some shirtless antics in a teaser for the June release. By Jocelyn Vena Channing Tatum in “Magic Mike” Photo: Warner Bros Sixteen seconds. That’s all fans are getting teased with in the just-released teaser for the “Magic Mike” trailer; the complete version hits the streets late Wednesday on “Entertainment Tonight.” But it’s a beefy 16 seconds, that’s for sure. It features everything fans of the highly anticipated flick could want: Channing Tatum as a shirtless police officer and quick looks at the also-shirtless acrobatics of the other strippers in the flick, including Matthew McConaughey and Alex Pettyfer. The tease is definitely quick and dirty but certainly highlights the humor in the film. At one point, Tatum jokes, “You don’t want to know what I have to do for 20’s.” Judging by the footage, it involves a lot of topless antics. Another point of interest comes at the end when Channing — once again without a top — asks, “So are you going to come to the show tonight?” For most fans, the answer will probably be a big, loud “YES!” The Steven Soderbergh-directed film opens June 29. In addition to Tatum, Pettyfer and McConaughey, the movie features a bevy of other Hollywood studs, including Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello. When MTV News caught up with McConaughey recently, he dropped a hint about his own stripper character in the film. “Well, I run the hottest male revue in America, if not the globe,” McCanaughey said of Dallas . “And we are going to simulcast around not only the globe, but the universe, and become the hottest male revue in the universe.” The story follows strip-club owner Dallas, as well as veteran male dancer Magic Mike (played by Tatum), who teaches the game to a newbie who goes by the moniker “The Kid” (played by Pettyfer). The movie is based on Tatum’s own experiences as a male dancer. Soderbergh told MTV News, “It’s a fictionalized version of what Channing went through. Channing’s sort of playing a version of himself, and Alex is kind of playing a version of Channing. They’re sort of amalgamations of other people. No one has ever said, ‘But that didn’t happen,’ because it’s not really that. It’s just the world that I think is really fascinating.” Still not convinced that this film has it all and then some? Well, Bomer recently shared that Tatum even gets his groove on to Ginuwine’s “Pony.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Magic Mike.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Channing Tatum ‘Nervous’ To Host ‘Saturday Night Live’

‘They really set you up to succeed,’ Tatum tells MTV News of ‘SNL’ cast. By Christina Garibaldi Channing Tatum Photo: Getty Images This year is shaping up to be a huge one for Channing Tatum . With five movies set for release in 2012 — the next being “The Vow” with Rachel McAdams on February 10 — it’s makes sense that Tatum is about to reach a pretty big milestone in his career: hosting “Saturday Night Live” for the first time, alongside musical guest Bon Iver. MTV News caught up with star during rehearsals on the “SNL” set, where he seemed to be a little anxious taking on his newest role as host. “I’m more nervous then I could probably tell you,” Channing admitted. “It happened so sort of constant and fast, you don’t really get a chance to think about it all too much. Like, you go home, you think and think and think, then you pass out and your alarm goes off, and then you come and do it again.” The “SNL” cast is trying to put Tatum’s nerves at ease. “They take care of you so much, so they really set you up to succeed,” he said. “Everyone is so at the top of their game as far as writing and acting, and this is a machine like I’ve never seen before. I wish movies ran this efficient; we would make them better.” Tatum, who revealed that his favorite past “SNL” castmembers are Dan Aykroyd and Chris Kattan, got some unusual advice on what he should do Saturday night from onetime host Kelly Ripa. “She said to put Vaseline on my teeth because she said your mouth goes dry when you say your name and your lips are stuck to your teeth,” Channing said. “If I can remember it, I’ll do it, but maybe I’ll Vaseline the lips instead of the teeth.” Are you excited to see Channing Tatum host “Saturday Night Live”? ’21 Jump Street’ Trailer: Five Key Scenes

Trailer references Jonah Hill’s ‘Superbad’ and includes an appearance by a certain ‘Parks and Recreation’ star. By Eric Ditzian Jonah Hill in the “21 Jump Street” trailer Photo: Columbia Pictures The Twitter war between Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum to see who’d get to tweet the “21 Jump Street” red-band trailer didn’t exactly work out as planned. Hill won, yet for some reason didn’t send out the link, so Tatum stepped in and executed the tweetage. But the new footage is nonetheless here. The action-comedy — based on Johnny Depp ‘s ’80s TV series, of course — stars Hill and Tatum as two young cops who join a resurrected undercover unit, pose as students and infiltrate a local high school to get to the bottom of a synthetic-drug ring. Depp’s cameo , unsurprisingly, doesn’t pop up in the new footage, but what else does? Let’s go ahead and take a look at the trailer’s five key moments. A Lifetime of Being Badass Mother$#@*&%s! Yes, that’s basically the professional goal of Schmidt (Hill) and Jenko (Tatum) when they join the police force. Once in uniform, though, badassery is hardly in the job description. Just look at those poor dudes biking around a park, their helmets and shorts almost as lethal to their images as their guns would be to the bad guys. One botched drug bust later, however, and it’s on to the Jump Street squad. Fitting In, Getting High The kids at the drug-filled high school are understandably skeptical of the two new students. As Dave Franco puts it, Tatum looks like he’s 40. So the cops have to fit in, which involves them taking the synthetic drug that comes in a package with a logo that looks, well, like a red pile of dog poop with a halo above it. So what does the drug do? According to the trailer, it makes you run through hallways and be rude to teachers, plus it leaves your tongue feeling really, really weird. Do the Honors, Ron Swanson You knew it was coming, that moment when one character urges a few others to head on down to 21 Jump Street. In theory, there’s something inherently nod-to-the-TV-show cheesy about it. Luckily, the honors are bestowed on Nick Offerman, otherwise known as Ron Swanson from “Parks and Recreation.” In his hands, with that man’s-man beard of his, the line comes out as both hokey and humorous. Well done, Mr. Swanson, or whatever your name in this movie is. The “Superbad” Callbacks The trailer doesn’t just hearken back to Depp’s TV show. It also includes two moments unmistakably linked to Hill’s 2007 breakout comedy, “Superbad.” In one, Hill and Tatum exit a liquor store that looks a whole heck of a lot like the one where McLovin’ tried to score booze for a party. Later, Hill is hit by a car and flung backward, yet isn’t so banged and bruised that he can’t pop off a curse-filled one-liner. Remember how a similar car-crash-and-curse befell Hill outside McLovin’s liquor store in “Superbad”? Guns, F-Bombs and Prom For years, Hill has been promising that his “21 Jump Street” wouldn’t be a parody, some weak-sauce bastardization of the TV series. He wasn’t kidding. This is a hard-R action-comedy filled with foul language, guns galore, a few explosions and the odd sight of Hill asking Tatum to go to prom with him, a date that requires both of them to suit up with enough firepower to take on the T-1000. Now that is a brawl we’d kill to see. Check out everything we’ve got on “21 Jump Street.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

Channing Tatum And Tracy Morgan Square Off On ‘Son Of No One’ Set

‘Tracy Morgan is going to shock the world,’ Tatum tells MTV News of funnyman’s dramatic turn in Sundance movie. By Kara Warner Channing Tatum in “The Son of No One” Photo: Millennium Films The 2011 Sundance Film Festival is just getting under way, and MTV News will have you covered with all the latest and greatest news from Park City, Utah. Kicking off our coverage is a sneak peek at one of the fest’s big premieres and this year’s closing-night film, “The Son of No One.” Written and directed by Dito Montiel (“A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints,” “Fighting”), the film revolves around two men forced to relive two murders they committed as young boys. The film stars Channing Tatum, Al Pacino, Katie Holmes, Tracy Morgan, Ray Liotta and Juliette Binoche. MTV News was lucky enough to drop by the New York set of the film awhile back, on a night when Montiel and crew were filming a heated scene between Tatum and Morgan. “It’s about two kids in 1986 that get away with murder,” Montiel explained. “And how it can catch up with you in 2002 [the year in which the film is set], so we’re never in reality.” “There’s a real bond between these guys,” Morgan said of the lead characters. “One’s life went in one direction, which is very successful, and the other friend, which is my character, went in a really messed-up direction.” “Son of No One” marks Montiel and Tatum’s third pairing together, which made us wonder if Montiel wrote the part with the “G.I. Joe” star in mind. “No, I never do. I keep ending up with him. I don’t know why,” he admitted. “That sounds like I’m being nice for MTV for whatever, but he’s great and I love him and he’s killing it.” Tatum plays Jonathan White, nicknamed “Milk.” “It’s an intense movie,” Tatum said. “I think Tracy Morgan is going to shock the world. Nobody has ever seen him do drama or anything like that.” Speaking of which, Morgan said a large part of the draw for wanting to sign on to the film was to flex his dramatic acting muscles. “I feel it’s an opportunity that I want to really take advantage of. I want to grow as an artist, as a person, and I understand my limitations,” he said. “Comedy is a comfort zone for me and I don’t mind coming out of my comfort zone.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Son of No One.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
