B.o.B, Taylor Swift Salute Everyman In ‘Both Of Us’ Video

Pair examine everyday life in Nashville in new Jake Nava-directed video. By Jocelyn Vena B.o.B in his video for “Both of Us” Photo: If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if B.o.B and Taylor Swift hung out together in Nashville and hired video director Jake Nava to film it, well, wonder no more. The twosome are committing their song collaboration to celluloid in the just-released clip for the rapper’s track “Both of Us,” which features the country-pop superstar on the hook. But if you thought the video would pay homage to the glittering honky-tonks of Nashville, think again. This video instead sheds light on the grittier sides of the country music capital, following the lyrics of the track, which center on adversity and strife. Bobby Ray and Taylor are rarely seen in the same shot, as southern Americana is the twosome’s most prominent co-star. The clip opens with B.o.B hanging out in his modest home, while Swift is chilling out in the most un-Taylor Swift spot in music video history, a pool hall. There are shots of tatted locals, cowboy-boot-wearing young women, shirtless youths playing in sprinklers, teens kissing, a mobile home, and a dog that leaves Taylor awestruck with his high-flying antics. The video isn’t glamorous, but it leaves viewers appreciating the little things in life. It’s not about money, it’s about understanding that sometimes a romp through a sprinkler or a good game of billiards is enough to take you away from the mundane moments of everyday life. As the video closes out, viewers are left with a sort of fantasy, with B.o.B and Swift re-imagined as the everyman and everywoman living simple lives in rural Tennessee, much like the folks in the video. It’s like B.o.B says in the song: “Hey, but if it’s all for one and one for all/ Then maybe one day we all could ball/ Do it one time for the underdogs/ From Bobby Ray to all of y’all.” Swift shares in the sentiment when she answers on the chorus, “I wish I was strong enough to lift not one but both of us/ Someday I will be strong enough to lift not one but both of us.” The track is off B.o.B’s album Strange Clouds . Swift and the MC shot the clip in Music City, USA in mid-June, weeks prior to the official release. Related Photos Taylor Swift And B.o.B On The Set Of Their ‘Both Of Us’ Video

Hoes Gotta Eat Too: Rielle Hunter Writing Tell-All About Torrid Affair With John Edwards

Superhead ain’t got nothin’ on her! SMH… John Edwards’ baby mama is about to get that paper! Rielle Hunter, the mother of John Edwards’ love child and the woman with whom he conducted a scandalous affair, is about to publish a memoir, “What Really Happened: John Edwards, Our Daughter and Me.” (Photos: AP) The news was announced on Friday, one day after Edwards was found not guilty of funneling about $1 million from his 2008 presidential run to Hunter through Andrew Young, a loyal campaign staffer. The jury deadlocked on five other counts, and the judge ruled a mistrial. According to People magazine, which first reported on the book, Hunter’s memoir will be published in on June 26 by the boutique press BenBella Books. Said the company’s president, Glenn Yeffeth, “We are delighted to publish Rielle Hunter’s memoir. A lot has been said. But no one has heard the truth of what really happened until now.” Readers will surely be curious about how the 80′s party girl who is featured in the novels of literary Brat Packers Jay McInerney and Bret Easton Ellis tells her own tale. That tale is a long one. Hunter was born Lisa Jo Druck to a Florida lawyer who ran a horse farm. After dropping out of college in the mid-80′s, she moved to New York, where she dated McInerney. She would appear in his 1988 novel “Story of My Life,” where Alison Poole, the character obviously based on Hunter, is portrayed as “an ostensibly jaded, yayo-addled, sexually voracious 20-year-old.” Poole also appears in Ellis’ “American Psycho” and “Glamorama.” Later, Druck moved to Los Angeles, where she married the lawyer “Kip” Hunter III in 1991, changing her name to Rielle Hunter three years later. She divorced her husband in 2000. In the intervening years, she became involved in Internet videography, rising to some prominence in the field. Supposedly, she met Edwards, then a rising star in the Democratic Party, at the Regency Hotel in New York in 2006, pitching herself as a potential campaign videographer. She would become that and much, much more. rielle-hunter-300_0.jpegThe rest of it is most sordid history, and most of it already relayed in “Game Change,” the 2010 book about the 2008 presidential campaign by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin. In it, they describe Edwards’ increasing and increasingly irrational infatuation with the loopy Hunter, even as his wife Elizabeth is dying of breast cancer. It fell to the National Enquirer to first reveal their affair in 2007, leading to near-endless denials from Edwards, despite mounting evidence against him. Edwards made incomplete admissions starting in the summer of 2008, finally fessing up to fathering a child with Hunter in 2010. His wife died shortly thereafter. One of the juicer moments in Hunter’s book will probably be her response to the revelation that Edwards called her a “crazy slut” to Young in 2007 after being informed that he was the father of the child now known as Quinn. It is not clear how much the book will touch on her intriguing pre-Edwards years. SMH at this broad sloring out her story. This ish is about to be a bestseller. Will you buy it??? Source

Britney Spears, Demi Lovato Will Bring ‘Serious Wisdom’ to ‘X Factor’

MTV News talks to ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ cast about Fox’s decision to enlist the two pop stars for the reality singing show. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears, L.A. Reid, Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato Photo: Britney Spears via Facebook NEW YORK — As the fall TV season continues to make news, Fox has had the most buzz thanks to the news that Demi Lovato and Britney Spears will sit down beside Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid as female judges on “The X Factor,” replacing Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul. On Monday (May 14), as talent from many of the network’s leading shows lined up to talk to the press at the Fox event, what everyone really wanted to know was how these two artists might fit on the reality competition show. Given that both have made names for themselves thanks to their own unique charms as pop stars, some of the more seasoned network vets offered up some sage advice for the reality show newbies. MTV News chatted with the folks of “So You Think You Can Dance,” in the hours before the presentation where they were confirmed, to get their sage advice for Brit and Demi. “You know, I don’t have any advice for those ladies,” “SYTYCD” host Cat Deeley explained. “What I do like about it though is they will be able to absolutely impart some serious wisdom. I love the idea that they’ve been in the business for so long and since being kids and so quite often they’ve had successes and they’ve had failures on things. “And I think the most important thing is the mistakes we make,” she added. “You learn so much from mistakes that you make and I think they’ll be able to impart their wisdom to the new kids coming through. I think it’s a great booking.” Judge Mary Murphy seemed excited by the chance to run into the girls at Fox-related events, and even shared that she’d love to see dancer Britney make an appearance on her show as well. “So she would be a good [guest] too if she wanted to pop on over, but I think she’s going to be a busy young woman with everything she has going on,” she said. “I think we’ll tune in to find out what the heck she’s gonna say!” she said, going on to share some judging advice. “Just try to speak from the heart and you can’t go wrong.” While Murphy and Deeley focused on the positive when it comes to their highly publicized judging spots, Nigel Lythgoe wondered if the singers (Britney, 30, and Demi, 19) might be too young for a mentor-type position. “Well they’ve got to look on it as a brand-new show, to be frank. I don’t think they need to look at the first season. I think they’ve got to be honest as they can be,” he said of coming in for season two. “They’re both artists and artists will always couch any criticism because they know that they’ve been criticized, so they’ve got to ignore that. “They’ve got to be as honest as they can be with their contestants and just inspire them to be better,” he said, before sharing his one hesitation about them. “My only reservation is they’re both young and I do think that mentors should be of an age,” he added, joking he fears it might put older experts, like him, out of a job. “I do think mentors have had so much experience before they mentor. At the same time, both of these young ladies have had incredible personal experience and been through so much in their own lives that hopefully they can bring that to the party too. But at the end of the day, they are going to take newcomers and literally push them through a reality television competition. It’s tough.” Do you think Demi Lovato and Britney Spears will make good judges on “The X Factor”? Leave your comment below! Related Artists Britney Spears Demi Lovato

Kanye West Signs Teyana Taylor To G.O.O.D. Music

The 21-year-old Harlem rapper and singer is officially added to the roster at West’s Def Jam imprint. By Nadeska Alexis Teyana Taylor Photo: Amanda Edwards/Getty Images Well, this was a long time coming. Kanye West has been closely affiliated with Harlem rapper/singer Teyana Taylor for some time now, but this week it was confirmed that Taylor has officially been signed to ‘Ye’s G.O.O.D. Music label. The 21-year-old singer-songwriter and actress, who worked with West on his fifth album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, will reveal details about her first G.O.O.D. Music LP and forthcoming singles in the next few weeks. In April she debuted a new mixtape, The Misunderstanding of Teyana Taylor, which pays tribute to Lauryn Hill and her other early influences, including Mary J. Blige and Janet Jackson. Taylor got her start in the industry when she was signed to Pharrell William’s Star Trak record label at the age of 15, and some fans might remember her over-the-top episode of MTV’s “My Super Sweet 16.” Her debut album, 2008’s From a Planet Called Harlem, featured the breakout single “Google Me,” and Taylor has since earned plenty of co-writing credits on recent songs like Nicki Minaj’s “Right By My Side,” which appeared on Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. Taylor worked closely with West on MBDTF ‘s “Hell of a Life,” “Runaway,” “Dark Fantasy” and the collaboration track “Christmas in Harlem,” which also featured G.O.O.D. Music’s CyHi the Prynce. Her recent onscreen endeavors include roles in 2010’s “Stomp the Yard 2” and Tyler Perry’s 2011 film “Madea’s Big Happy Family.” Last summer, the 21-year-old also grabbed attention with her remix of Drake’s hit single “Marvin’s Room.” “Her Room” found Taylor sampling lyrics from Lauryn Hill’s “X Factor,” as she came to terms with a cheating ex. The G.O.O.D. news just keeps coming from Kanye West’s camp. Last month the super producer/rapper signed veteran Q-Tip to his Def Jam imprint. What do you think of Kanye of signing Teyana to G.O.O.D. Music? Tell us in the comments! Related Artists Teyana Taylor Kanye West

Ryan Gosling Drives Away With Three MTV Movie Award Noms

The actor’s busy 2011 could earn him a trio of Golden Popcorn statuettes. By Amy Wilkinson Ryan Gosling in “Drive” Photo: Bold Films In between brokering peace in New York’s East Village , suffering a snub at the hands of the People ‘s Sexiest Man Alive nomination committee and giggling over his own Internet meme , Ryan Gosling somehow found time to release three well-received films in 2011. So it should come as no surprise that the actor acquired a number of nods Monday when the 2012 MTV Movie Awards nominations were announced. The 31-year-old racked up three nominations: Best Male Performance and Best Gut-Wrenching Performance for the action flick “Drive” and Best Kiss (along with co-star Emma Stone) for the romantic comedy “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” Gosling’s other 2011 film, “The Ides of March,” was not nominated. Gosling is no stranger to MTV’s Golden Popcorn, having won a statuette in 2005 for Best Kiss with his “Notebook” co-star (and former girlfriend) Rachel McAdams. Their onstage re-creation of the smoldering smooch is still one of the Movie Award ceremony’s most memorable moments. This year, however, Gosling and Best Kiss co-nominee Stone face stiff competition in the form of “Twilight” lovebirds Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, who’ve won the honor three years running. Elsewhere, Gosling will face Bryce Dallas Howard (“The Help”), Channing Tatum and Rob Riggle (“21 Jump Street”), Tom Cruise (“Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol”), and the women of “Bridesmaids” for Best Gut-Wrenching Performance, while Daniel Radcliffe (“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2”), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (“50/50”), Josh Hutcherson (“The Hunger Games”) and Channing Tatum (“The Vow”) will be his competition for Best Male Performance. Find out which (if any) honors Ryan Gosling takes home by tuning in to the MTV Movie Awards on June 3 at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT. Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now!
